    Default SWEATING-Gross!

Does anyone else have this problem at work? Every night during my first set I sweat like a pig. I think it's so gross. I always take a shower right before work, so I am very clean, but still, the sweat just POURS. I think customers probably think I am on drugs or something. What drug makes you sweat profusely? Thats probably what they think I am on. Anyhow, I think the sweating might be related to the fact that I apply this self-tanner ("Sun") that might be making me sweat this badly. Also, it's a (naughty) "tradition" for many of the dancers to have a shot of vodka to kick off our night. We know it's bad, but it had become a habit. Does anyone else experience such sweating when drinking or after applying self tanner? Also, if you have just taken a shower, and have used deoderant, does sweat still smell bad? Or it a fresh, clean smell? Does anyone have any advice on what to use to blot the sweat after coming offstage? Are there any good makeup products that will help keep the sweat under control? I am so afraid I am repulsing the guys with this. I look like someone threw a bucket of water on me when I come offstage. Ugh

Are you sure you aren't getting hot flashes? I'd check to see with my doctor. I knew this one girl who would pour out sweat once she got a hot flash. There's nothing you can do about it.
Other things that might contribute to it could be nervousness. You can overcome that by simply practicing more. Hot (spicy)food will make me sweat. Avoid them before a performance.
How hot is it where you work? How hard are you working your body? Most of the time your body sweats to regulate it's temperature. I don't know how you can train your body to lower it's temperature.
Some people say you can train yourself to hold your breath longer. I don't know. It's never worked for me.
Outside of that ,there is really nothing you can do about it besides just try to mask the odor. Antipersperants just wash off after a while and it's bad to clog your pores anyway.

    Hey Kaiyla,

I use to work in a club where our owner never heard of the invention of the air conditioner

Our stage was average sized and I put energy into my stage work, so the same thing would happen to me.

The club where I work now is pretty well insulated and sometimes I will pull 1/2 hour stage sets and not sweat too much.

Anyway, MAC or Clean&Clear blotters are great for your face so you won't smear any of your make-up. Make sure you have plenty of baby wipes on hand.

I use self-tanner as well. I usually put it on around two hours before I go to work, so it is pretty much set by then.

I don't know your hair type, but if it is curly, using a pomade that is light and fruity can make your hair still smell great and not ruin the style.

    Hope this helps,

    Corey

All I can do is sympathize, Kaiyla. I get really sweaty up on stage since I don't just stand there and pose, I instead move, dance, do floorwork, utilize the pole... I have mini-workouts up there! I try to go to the bathroom to "freshen up" after my set. All that really means is I take paper towels and wipe the sweat off my lower back and blot my face with those blotting papers, reapply powder and redo lipstick. If a customer flags me down to sit with him as soon as I get off stage, I usually blame my sweating on the hot lights. Many guys think it's a turn-on to see me kinda "glowing." I dunno, whatever works.

i like to do my fake tan an hour before bed(if sleeping alone)or in the morning so its already tan and showered off before work cuz i think they do make me sticky, and i swear i can always smell it, no matter what brand.i love to babywipe after every set to feel fresh, dont forget your next under your hair, and use cheap body sprays like Bath and Body Works,Coty or whatever..cuz they cool you down and you can babywipe and then spray all nite and they just wear off...blotting papers are great.wish i could get the hang of fake lashes, because i think they look great and then you dont have to worry about mascara running..a nice peppermint foot spray is refreshing when you change costumes..if you have a healthy diet and good health and hygiene your sweat shouldnt smell, you will just glisten.if you eat spices,curries,garlic,etc...that might come out in your sweat..good luck!!

The vodka might be contributing to it as well. I know that I can sometimes break out in a sweat just sitting and drinking.

I use Certain-Dri....it is MIRACULOUS.....virtually no sweat whatsoever. Definitly worth the 6.00 at Walgreens. I only use it on my armpits but it probably would work elsewhere. The only downfall it that it will irritate you skin if you put it on right after shaving.

There is water proof makeup. I would sweat alot. It's sexy. but after being on the body for sometime bacteria will breed.

I would wipe off between dances with (believe it or not) baby wipes. Antibacterial. They smelled slightly of lemon. Under my arms with more deodorant, and a spritz of water on my face to freshen what makeup i was wearing. (keep the nozzle of the spray bottle over head and let the spray fall over your face. Hair would not hurt either for a slight mist.

But going to the change room and freshening up is a must. Quick and easy too!

Do you ever notice how some people sweat more then other's. They can all be in relatively the same shape physically but some sweat more. I used to run, alot , like 5 to 12 mile's a day. I started when I was going through airborne school in the service. It was very therapeutic mentally. Well the first say 1.5 - 2 mile's I would sweat profusely, then all of a sudden it would stop and I would be kinda in-stoke so to say. I find that diet has alot to do with it, your body sweat's out toxin's mostly from sugar's and carb's. I drank alot of beer back then so mine mostly came from that. Your body also sweat's to regulate it's temperature. When you begin a workout session your body temperature rise's and your bodies natural reaction is to sweat to help cool it down. I would say that if you are sweating more then the other girl's and in about the same shape as them then I would look at your diet as a possible source of the excessive sweating.

I have botox under my arms to stop sweating there but I really wish I could get it all over my face to stop me looking like I just stepped out the shower!!

The fitter you get the less you sweat less too no?

It is almost all cornstarch.. instantly pulls moisture to the surface were it evaporates, And it tastes great.. LOL it was designed as a owder your lover puts on you with feathers then licks off.. LOL again.. My oregnant friend got me hooked now all the girls like it after a set.. The berry smells delicious and so will you.. dry dry dry..

If you are nice and clean when you start dancing it may be that your "sweat" is not that offensive smelling to the guys anyway. A sheen is sexy for sure.

My wife smells so good that she cannot smell bad no matter how much she sweats, no kidding, she just smells better and better. (Maybe I am just in love, spose?)

And besides, Ladys don't sweat, they perspire. (My, I do declare, I just hope you don't get the vapors)
Anyone with a memory should be very humble.
