    Default Flat feet

Do any of you girls have flat feet?

I used to have to wear a cookie inside my shoes when I was a child for an arch.

When I work out on the treadmill I notice that when i walk, my left leg does not hit the ground when it's supposed to and it feels like my left leg is 'slightly' shorter than my right leg. What happens is my left hip doesn't swing as high as my right hip when i walk.
I also lose my balance slightly doing lunges when I do the left leg.

The double whammy is that i also broke my left leg, both the tibia and fibia bones back in grade school jumping over a horse in gymnastics without a spotter. The surgeon had to place a metal rod inside my left leg for a while and then removed it. I think my left leg is 'slightly' shorter than my right. My left calf is slightly fattier than my right calf.

I'm upset because i once went to some E-model agency a while back and when I went for the interview the lady asked me to walk. So I walked for her and I usually lead with my right foot. Then she asked me walk again this time leading with my left foot. That's when she asked if I have flat feet or a slight limp! She said it was very slight and it was her job to notice.

Does having flat feet affect walking in heels or just regular shoes? I can walk and dance in my 7.5 inches just fine but i don't want anyone to notice this problem, or think I don't know how to walk.

Is there something that I can put in the shoes to support the foot's arch in a dancer's shoe? I am not sure this problem is stemming from flat feet, the injury or both! [cuss]

No one has flat feet? No one ever had to wear cookies in shoes as a child? I was born with my feet turned in. My mother had to massage them out daily because I walked with my feet turned in early on. (such a submissive position!)

Had to wear cookies in my school shoes to help the arch.
I don't turn them in anymore, but not having a proper arch affects my walking very slightly. Didn't know if anyone here could relate....or if I'm the only gimpy here!!

Hi sweetie. Don't eva wanna hear you claling yoself gimpy again lol.

You are not alone alot of girls have a very small arch - no arch at all.

I would recommend to you WalkFit. These things are incredible. My homegirl had terrible plantar fascitis and was getting cortisol injections in her heel about every week or so. I bought these for her and she practically claimed a miracle and said the pain was completely gone!

They work by stabalizing the arch which essentially is the center of your foot. In demonstrations they show people pushing on a guy with his regular shoes & he tipped ova. With the Walkfit, he was able to resist their force with minimal effort in counterpressure and they were unable to push him ova.

Check it out and let me know if it worked for you. I left a link below that will direct you.

    *Hope this helps!*

Poor Neptune! No, you are definitely not alone girl!

I have horribly flat feet too. I also had to wear arch supports as a child. I remember my mom called my condition "mush foot". Even now, I walk on the insides of my feet if I am wearing flat shoes, like sneakers. My hubby noticed it recently and said, "God, I never realized you walked like that." lol

Anyway, I am curious about the Walk Fit. Thanks for the info and link, Hot2Trot! I am definitely going to check it out!

Have you been to a Podiatrist lately? my son goes for his flat feet and has had noticable improvement. I would also suggest being checked out by a Chiropractor - if you think there are differencies in the lengths of your legs it could be a curve in your spine which can be corrected. A Chiropractor can also help with posture, The Alexander tequnique is also great for that.
Have you ever done a deportment class? I did one a long time ago (20 years, Jesus!) and I have often be so glad I did!!!!!

I would suggest consulting an orthopedist. I find it strange that you had metal rods inserted in your leg while you were still growing. That may have prevented your legs from growing at the same rate. If your legs are correct, you may be reffered to a physical therapist to correct the limp.

I also have flat feet, and I don't have a problem walking in heels, just in regular shoes. I also would suggest going to a chiropractor. One of my legs was about 1/2 inch shorter that the other because I have mild scoliosis in my back, but after going to the chiropractor, he gave my back better alignment, so I don't have the problem as much anymore.

Funny I didn't notice this thread when it was posted in 2003. LOL

Because I have flat feet and it's always been a bit of a problem - not that I walk funny but that my feet hurt more and in weird places when I have to be walking/standing alot.

I do find walking lunges a bit difficult as well, and always had a little balance problem. Perhaps it's the flat feet.

People say I run funny. Flat feet? Who knows?

But I don't have any trouble in my stripper shoes and I seriously doubt anyone's ever thought I walk funny at work. If you have a slight limp that some model agent noticed, most likely the average person would never notice or think nothing of it - especially in the strip club. Customers aren't looking for a slight limp - they're too busy looking at the T&A.
