Okay, I have this white dress. It's that newish spandexy, plasticy, rubberish sorta stuff. Know what I mean? Like, I think it would melt if I held it over a candle.
Anyways, it's dirty.... can I soak it in bleach water? What should I do?

bad plan - remember that spandex is a plastic, a delicate plastic actually. I hand wash my spandex stuff in lukewarm water with dish washing detergent. I then partially dry them by rolling my spandex outfits up inside a clean dry towel, then twist the ends of the towel to wring out most of the water, then hang up my spandex outfits to air dry. I do this at home as well as on the road.

yeah, bleach will tear it up. I'd use either the delicate cycle or elbow grease.

I did that, Mel.
Unfortunately it's a rather white dress, and I wore it on a rather tan lotion sweat-y night. I'm leaving it soaking in dish soap for a couple hours, do you think that's okay? I have this awesome stain remover stuff, but I think it would just remove a hole in this lol

I've used oxy-brite (diluted) mixed with Woolite on my white spandex and it has been fine. I've also tried those Shout wipes (in the bitty packets) on the self-tanner stains and then washed gently. I would try the Shout wipes first: Try to dab on the inside seam and see how it goes.

What is its actual content? Were there any cleaning directions when you got it? How about asking the person who sold it to you. Is it actually spandex, rubber or latex? If it's rubber or latex chlorine will destroy it. Try woolite.
