    Default Getting back in shape!

    Hi!
I've been dancing for about a year, but for the last few months i've just been working odd jobs. I've gotten about 20 lbs. out of shape. right now i'm really needing money--so i'm looking to start dancing ASAP! --like with in a week or two. I've read through all the threads here on weight loss and exercise, but i'm looking for some more advice. Sorry this is such a long entry, but ANY comments would be so helpful. This is just an outline of what i've been up to:

    SUPPLEMENTS:
I just started taking something called xtreme trim -it's the same ingredients as xenadrine (minus the ephedra-which is good cuz it makes me shakey and nauseous not to mention i can't drink on it) and i'm also taking whey protein. Does anyone know anything about these? Is the xtreme trim/xenadrine effective without the ephedra?? Also, how much whey protein should i be taking a day? I've been drinking 1 scoop/day (water+protein powder)? Are there any additional or maybe different supplements you could suggest?

    WORK OUT:
I've been going to the gym for about an hour a day, and today I'm going to up that to 2 hours a day. (30 min on elliptical, 30 with weights, 20 on abs, 40 min in pool---usually i do everything but the pool). I'm also thinking about taking some classes at the gym. Any other ideas? I'm really looking for muscle definition...need to tone up!

    DIET:
I can't diet forever and I know how to eat pretty healthy but what i'm really looking for is a 1 -2 week diet that will jump start my change in lifestyle. Know of anything that works well for quick weight loss, and then followed by healthy habits will keep the weight off?

Dancing's really important to me, especially now that the bills are piling up and I need to start again as soon as i can.
Any help you can give me would be APPRECIATED!
    thank you!

DON'T TRAIN YOUR ABS RIGHT NOW-GOTO THE GYM AND LIFT BEFORE DOING CARDIO-I WOULD LIFT 5 DAYS A WEEK 1 BODY PART EACH DAY(LEGS,ARMS,BACK,CHEST,SHOULDERS)AFTER LIFTING DO 30 MIN OF CARDIO AT 125 HEART RATE 3 DAYS A WEEK AT FIRST AND BUMP IT UP TO 4 OR 5 DAYS IF YOU DON'T GET ENOUGH RESULTS-ALSO FORGET THE POOL

Know of anything that works well for quick weight loss, and then followed by healthy habits will keep the weight off?IF YOU NEED TO LOSE POUNDS QUICKLY, YOU COULD GOTO A ZERO CARB DIET FOR 1 WEEK SUCH AS ATKINS-YOU'D HAVE TO EAT HIGH FAT AND HIGH PROTEIN-THIS IS ONLY A QUICK FIX, NOT A LIFESTYLE CHANGE

YOU SHOULD EAT 6 SMALL MEALS A DAY-EVERY 2.5 HOURS TO KEEP METABOLISM FAST

Make certain you are getting the protein you need, and keep your carbs minimal and non starchy - low on the glycemic chart.

Anabolic is right - break your meals up into mini meals...

Take your vitamins, a heavy duty one-a-day with minerals if nothing else.
Increase your water intake minimum 1.5 litres MINIMUM.
Make sure you get all your sleep 8-10 hours.

All these things work hand in hand the sleep the water the exercise, the vitamins, they all interconnect.

As far as a quick start for your diet?
Increase protein - decrease carbs. Have a low cal protein shake for breakfast, salad with water packed tuna for lunch/non fat dressing, have a chicken breast with steamed broccoli for midday, another low cal protein shake, for next meal extra lean ground beef pattie, some cottage cheeze and celery and cucumber sticks....later another low cal low carb protein shake. (I use Iso-Whey by Interactive Nutrition - only 163 cals o.5 fat and 38 grams of protein per shake)

If you are working out and want definition then dont starve the muscle of its much needed protein.

You can re introduce more carbs when you drop some of your weight as you said, and begin to use whole grains for your breads, whole wheat pasta (it digests slower, has more protein, and wont spike your insulin...) you can start having a fruit with your shake in the morning - that sort of thing, but if you want to jump start? Then drop those carbs, now.

I don't understand the science behind the Atkins diet
    approach, maybe it's just me.
    ???
The people I know who are on it each sooo much food, unhealthy food too. A whole bunch of the same thing too, like 10 beef patties and such.

Anyhow great advice here! I think Leigh and Anabolic could charge people for some of the advice they give in this area.

Yup suggest no Carbs. I wear ankle weights daily around my ankles while running errands under my sweats where you can't see them, this has helped with definition big time for me.

When you do get down to your weight a hoola hoop (sounds funny I know) will help keep your waist slim and butt muscles tight.

    Good luck Loki.

I can't do a hula hoop. Are bigger ones easier than smaller ones? Is it bad for your back?

Try mixing rope jumping and weights. Like, jump rope for 200 reps, very fast, then do an upper body, then a lower body exercise, then some ab work. Repeat this cycle as many times as you can, then hit the shower.

Some hoops are made to light nowadays, if it's too light it will not work, the size doesn't matter, just try it out before you purchase one.

Tried the all fruit thing. You choose one fruit that day and eat as much of it, but nothing else. I tried pineapple all day and grapes the next....and so on, for a couple of days. I don't know if this is healthy or not but i did shed quick pounds and considered it a cleansing or fasting period. This does wonders for the skin as well.

It is always best to have a well rounded diet. I don't think it will cause any problems in the short term but I wouldn't do this for more than a few weeks. I mean your body needs protien and calcium ect, you might get tired of all that fiber too he he.

I've tried the Fat Flush diet and it really works. It detoxes your body and make cellulite less noticeable. Go to Fat Flush.com for more details.

Try like a cardio kickboxing class. It utilizes most all of your muscle groups and would most likely help you deal with the additional stress you are putting on your body and mentally.
You're attempting a lifestyle change and it's not going to come quickly. You may have to make some changes in your attitude first.
