    Default toothache

My tooth is killing me. Arrggghhh!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure I need a filling. Any clue how much this costs? I think I need to head to the Dentist tomorrow morning. The entire right side of my face and head is killing me. Right now I'm using Orajel, but it stops working after 10 minutes.

it sounds like you might have waited too long for a simple filling to work. You're probably going to need a "root canal", which can cost several hundred bucks.

Melonie may be right, it may need a root canal. I think the last one I had was $400. My sympathies to you, I sure hope it gets better quick. Having had several root canals I can honestly say, "I feel your pain".

Yup, 3 root canals and a filling and later a crown. I walked out this morning crying. Crying b/c I know it's gonna hurt and it's gonna cost around $1000. I don't have the money. I don't really understand because I take care of my teeth. Maybe just not enough, but I always thought I did OK, and I was at the dentist just last September. Last night I was up half the night. When I went today they gave me some Codeine (which I'm on now).

How does the codeine affect you? I'm sleepy and slow-moving. Should I avoid this at work?

My dentist said I don't need to pay everything right away. I go Monday morning for 1/2 a root canal and they said if I give them $200 that would be OK, come back a week later with another $200 and they'll finish it.

I have heard so many horror stories of the pain of this. I'm not normally afriad of the dentist, don't mind the shots, drilling, pulling of wisdom teeth, etc, but this terrifies me!!!

Anyone please tell how you felt afterwards. I going to work on Monday after I see the dentist. I'm scheduled and have someone coming in to see me.

I split a tooth a couple of years ago. The root canal was painless after the numbing. Once the first half of the root canal was done, I felt so much better!!!!!! No pain after at all. The second half was no biggie at all.

Thanks for making me feel a little better. I go in on Monday morning to get this done. The codeine makes me tired, but isn't really taking my pain away. Hopefully they can prescribe soemthing a little stronger for me when I go in tomorrow.

I've had several root canals. While you can sort of tell what the dentist is doing, there is no pain in the procedure and once it's done, the pain is gone. It's important to go ahead and get this taken care of and get it over with. While the pain might go away on it's own, it's sure to come back worse.

Thanks again everyone! Last night I went in to work even though I didn't feel great and took some of the medicine. I felt a little woozy especially on stage, but I was OK driving. I know not to mix w/ alcohol and i only drink maybe once a week at work. I'll let everyone know tomorrow night how this went. [sick]

Well, got it taken care of today. At least half way. Got 2 novocaine shots which barely hurt and the rest was totally painless. Even after the shots wore off, I've been fine ever since. I got them to prescribe me some Vicodin, and I got a prescription for some penicillin. I have another appt. in a week and a half to get it completely done. Today I paid $200, and next time the other $200.
Now they say this may be the only root canal I need. I think I'm gonna need a crown on it though 'cause it looks like half of my tooth was drilled down, and now there's cement in it. At least my head and the right side of my face isn't throbbing anymore.

Jesus Christ this may sound absolutely nuts but here goes anyways. It's like 3:30 AM and i can't sleep. I took 2 Vicodin's around 11:30 so I'd sleep better and without pain, and I tahink now I have insomnia b/c of it. I just took 2 of my Codeine's hoping they'll knock me out. I looked on the web, and found out that Vicodin can have reverse effects on some people causing them to be wide awake...........guess I'm one of them. If I'm still on this board at 6AM someone please come over and shoot me!

Stay away from refined sugars and you won't have to worry about tooth decay. Check out a book called the Health Hazards of White Sugar by Lynne Melcombe. It's made a huge difference in my life. I spent a fortune on dentists before I started eating food made with non refined sugars.

the vicoden can defintely keep you awake!! Are they the strongest ones, the 7.5s? I've had teeth probles and I've taken vicoden for the,the strongest! You really shouldnt mix them with the codeine either.. they can cause and adverse effect..
