Ladies I just had a copper IUD put in. I only need it for a year and half to two years but after forking over 220 Euros and having this thing put in my doctor informs me that I cannot use tampons, finger myself and that it might stab my husband in the penis when he is having sex with me! She said no sex for the first week and after a month come back in and she can trim it shorter if we need to.

Im a webcammer, pornstar and occasional escort so now Im worried. Can I use a dildo with this thing in?? Google says yes but Im wondering if any of you have used done it? Have any of you had it "stab" a penis? This is so crazy. I dont care about heavier flow or cramping cause its a short term thing for me so I can deal but I dont want to hurt a client or accidentally pull this thing out so any shared experience is appreciated!

Wow. I have an IUD also but I specifically asked for Mirena (which isn't copper). I can feel the string if i reach far enough but my boyfriend has a big one and never complains about being able to feel it. I want to assume that the wire or "string" for yours wouldn't be much different.

And, jesus christ, no fingering or tampons?? With that logic you can't have sex either. I know that it's birth control but making it impossible for you to have enjoyable sex wasn't a part of their marketing material. So I'm lost on what she was even going on about

^^ Ah sorry I realize I have not been very clear

So it was put in while Im on my period because the doctor said it would be easier. Now I have to wait a week before sex and no fingering or tampons for one month because the "string" that hangs out is also copper. The reason no tampon is because it could get stuck on the copper and when you pull it out you could also pull out the IUD. After one month the copper softens with your body and the doctor will recheck its position in the vagina and will trim it or curl it around the cervix if its in the way or hanging to low. Once this has been done then I will be able to once again do fingering and use tampons. In the meantime I do not have to wait one month to have sex because its rare that it will stab the penis but the doctor did say to my husband to "be careful". We are still joking about that because how the fuck is one going to be careful?!?!?! The process is pretty straight forward, no real precautions that could be implemented before or during! Maybe he needs to wear a helmet??? In the meantime I did find some other threads on IUDs and it sounds like no one has had a sex problem with them just the classic heavy period and cramping issues are stated so I think its going to be okay!

So I have some insights on this, first if all your dr is way too old school. You shouldn’t mess with it internally for a couple days then you are good to go. The strings will be at the top of your cervix very hard for most men to reach and def not where a tampon or fingers reach. Second I did have a very large partner displace my iud after rough sex LOTS of blood and pain. No doctor believed me till 2 years later they found it was about to come out. It was displaced after having it in for 3 years. My well endowed partner thinks he is feeling my new iud but after doing an ultrasound he is just feeling my cervix. So yeah it can be felt and moved by a large dick but the stars need to align

^^Thank you! I keep feeling like the doctors here are really old skool! Its a Spanish thing. If you dont live in a country where you have free and paid healthcare its hard to understand but I feel like every doctor I go to is using old info and plays it really really really REALLY fucking safe! This makes me feel a lot better about the IUD cause now my period is almost stopped so Im hoping I can get on cam tomorrow and fuck the hell out of some wallets Gotta make up the rest of the week!

I got my copper IUD more than 10 years ago. I've had it for the duration of both of my two long-term relationships. I have not been in a long-term relationship since being in this line of work and living in LA for the majority of it's duration, so the IUD hasn't really served me past it's initial five years in use. I've been told to change the IUD as it's past the 10 year mark, but I'm thinking I might just leave it alone. I've read accounts where ladies have had their IUDs in for 40-50+ years. It's a foreign device. Foreign devices can stay in bodies for decades, without doing any harm.

Also, when I got it, health professionals were anti-IUD unless you've already had a child. The stance was that your uterus is not big enough to hold an iud, hormones are good for you, blah blah blah. I got all sorts of reasons, and got the IUD anyways. I'm not sure if health professionals are as anti-IUD as they were ten years ago when I got mine. It worked out for me though and I recommend it if you have easy, cramp-free periods as to be able to afford an increase in your monthly cramps, which is a small price to pay if you do not want any unplanned pregnancies in your life.
I had the copper IUD in for a short time many years ago. I went from having painless periods to super intense cramps, from medium/heavy bleeding to very heavy, long periods, and i remember my uterus just feeling... irritated constantly. I took my own IUD out after maybe 6 months. Ugh.

Every form of BC has downsides. I'm lucky my current partner got a vasectomy, because i never found a form of BC that was acceptable to me. I haven't taken hormonal birth control or used an IUD in a long time!

FWIW I got the copper IUD back in 2011 and all they told me was nothing in the vagina for 24 hours.

same here! I had the copper IUD for 10 years, no issues with camming or sex with my partner. as far as occasional escort, my doc did say that you can get infections more easily if you have more than one partner while you have the IUD bc of the strings and different guys can have different bacteria on their dingalings. i only had one partner the entire time on my IUD and cammed. my only 2 complaints with the IUD are that I had yeast infections more often than before and my period went from a light 1 day to a heavy 7 day.
