Default any of you have endometriosis?

i've suffered from this disease for years - had 4 surgeries all ready, etc.....just curious if any of my fellow dancers here suffer from it also and how you deal with it...has it made going in for your shifts impossible?? have you ever had problems with management due to calling in a lot from the pain?? and do you take any narcotics for the pain??

i luv this board so much since i found it awhile back and i'd really like to find someone who can comprehend what i go through with this endo hell!!

have a good night everyone and here's some money making sleep dust!!!

Hi Unfortunately I share your pain. I've had it since puberty. I have declined the surgery (at least for now)-for exactly the reason you stated, most times it does not work, and any form of surgery makes me nervous. (I am very sorry it didn't work for you) I was told by my mother that her's ended after having her first child. I really hope that is the case for me-and it's what I'm "holding out" for before really considering surgery.

When it comes to work, I'm usually down for the count at least the first couple of days. I have been on the pill to try to ease the cramps, which makes my cycle pretty regular-so I try to schedule myself around it. Every once in a while it will change on me, and I'll have to call in (if they have a problem with it, I'd show them a Dr.'s note or give them a copy of my prescription-I had to do this when I was in school... tended to miss quite a few days there...

As for pain medication, I've been on Tylenol 3 w/ Codeine since forever... It's a double edged sword... while it does help with the cramps, I'm often too tired or out of it to do anything else but stay in bed anyways.

I suspect that I may have it. Up until recently I've had normal periods. Then last month I had it for 7 days and spotted on the 8th. I had sharplower back pain and cramps. It stopped for 3days(pain was still there). Then I got another full period again for another 7days!! That also stopped, went t gyno got an exam, said everyting looked fine, and did a pap smear and some blood work, and said it was probobly my nerves. So it stoppedfor 5 days. Got the really sharp back and cramping again and realized I had my period again!!( I was actually do 4 days later than that from the 1st time I got it).It was actually 5 more days of spotting.. It stopped again 2 days ago, but I'm having the sharp back pains again and cramping, and spotted a little today..

Does this sound like endometriosis?? Would anyone that has this know?? I'm actually going to go to a better doctor and get a 2nd opinion next week. And I'm not pregnant cause thats the first test had done!!

I too have endometrious, it is nice to share info and remedies because so many people dont even know what it is.

I've had 2 surgeries and been on lupron shots once for 3 mths. I'll never do the lupron again, it was awful! Just like menopause, yuk!!!

My symptoms generally include painful sex, sharp pains at anytime in my abdomen, painful bowel movements, really bad painful attacks which demand serious pain relievers such as percacet(sp?) T3's, or if it's really bad a trip to emergency for a shot of their happy drug.

My endometrious showed up after my first baby, has come back after both surgeries, usually within 6mths. The effects of the lupron lasted longer, almost a year pain free!

I recently had my second baby (he's 7mths. old) I have heard pregnancy can put endo into remission, as well I am still breast feeding and haven't had a period yet, but the other week I had a twinge of pain during sex, scared me, the doctor sent me for an ultrasound but nothing showed up. I'm off to see the specialist again in the next month.

Anyway, I find it very depressing every time I feel the pain, more than cramps, to me it feels like a knife in my pelvis.
I've heard that eating tofu is supposed to be good for you as well as any medications that stop you from bleeding. When you dont bleed the growths actually shrink and relieves pain. Depo shot or continuos birth control pills can do this.

Hot water bottles always made me feel a little bit better, as well as a heated vibrating massager, kinda distracted me from the pain.

Good luck and let me know if you have any suggestions for me!
    Katie
