    Default Sick of being sick!

I am always getting sick from the other girls in the club. They let their bodies get run down from overworking themselves, then get sick and bring it to work. Right now I am fighting a nasty case of bronchitis and coughing up a lung! The dressing room sounds like a turbucolosis ward! When I first came down with this, I asked the dancer who I caught it from how long she was sick, she said for a month! I have already missed a lot of my shifts because I am in no condition to dance, but I can't keep going to work and getting sick from girls who don't have the sense to stay home and get better. This is always happening to me. I take a multi one a day vitamin, but is that enough? Can anyone recommend something that will help me from catching bugs off the other girls? I am about ready to start dancing in a damn plastic bubble!

ICK! Ok lets be creative. If you can do your makeup at home so nothing that you put on your face is exposed to the yuckiness at work. Bring Clorox wipes with you and wipe down any counter space you might touch. Using antibacterial hand gel might help.
Eating well and getting enough sleep as well as controlling stress are probably the best things to do but if they fail the immune system you might try Echinacea. (it's a herbal supplement that can be found at any pharmacy or GNC type store) I tend to get sick a lot during the winter. I had a great paying job with terrible hrs, 14 hr days with only one day off in 2 months away from home during the winter. I survived without getting sick and I credit this to Echinacea.

No matter what you do, if someone is contagious, you are being exposed. If she just sneezed and you walk past her your exposed. When it comes to a virus, the best you can do is
    1) flush the toilet with your foot (i know)
2)after touching anything back stage, never touch your face, and carry a damp paper towel while back there with a small amount of soap on it.
Believe it or not...nothing works better than soap and water for germs!

It's inside these smaller closed areas we are more likely to get a virus.

And if you are using antibacterial anything STOP. we need to be exposed to a certain amount of germs to build antibodies so we can fight off these little pests.

Cover your mouth when walking past this person/s.
And keep your hands off anything you know they touch. Sounds crazy, i know, thats where the wet paper towel with a small amount of soap comes in. Toss it before you hit the stage, and grab a new one once you hit the back again.

Just stay out of sneezing, and touch contact. Also the cold, flu etc. is a cross contamination germ, so use the wet paper towel often, and on alot of items touched. It gets easy, like carrying a cig. around before you know it!!

    This should help.

I survived living in my friend's home daycare and working in a hospital without many illnesses by washing my hands with good 'ol soap and warm water often. This is a tip I got from a nurse friend and I swear by it. She told me that most infections come from us touching our eyes or noses with our hands. Think of all those icky surfaces and dirty money and then... well.. ICK! And I'm a contact lens wearer so think how much that makes a person unconsiously touch the eye area.

I'd follow the advice of not being in the confined dressing room much too.

Oh, and sublingual B-12 helps too without the needle issue . You can pick that up at any health food or good grocery store.

B-12 injection from a doctor will give you energy. It is mainly used for people who are "run down".
You may get a 'rush' shortly after the shot, and will be watched by a nurse or doc. untill you feel calm.
Then they let you go home. It is not a shot used just for pep, however, there has to be a medical reason for getting it. Common for an alcholic, or someone who has eating disorders. As well as many other medical problems.

Thank you all for the great advice! I do wash my hands with soap after using the ladies room, and I do put on my make up at home. I caught this particular virus from a girl who was using my big gulp as a 'chaser" all day for her nips in the back, I didn't know she was drinking from my straw till I walked in the dressing room and there she was, sipping away... I was not pleased, to put it politly. No more food or drink in the dressing room for me! I am on H-C Tussive syrup and a Flovent puffer, plus antibiotics. This one is NASTY!! Thankfully, I don't think my daughter has caught it, but I have been taking extra precautions with her.

Drinking Echinacea tea (yes it's nasty) and hot lemonade with honey will help you recover faster.

My high immunity don't get sick routine goes like this: One clove of garlic and one real, digestable vitamin C supplement and one cup of echinacea per day, combined with good eating and sleeping habits and outdoor excercise every day.

At work, try to wash your hands constantly, and take a shower as soon as you get home from work.

Oh, yeah, and do not mess with the B12. It is injectable, IM so it doesn't matter where you put it (just pull the thingy back and make sure there's no blood). It won't hurt you to do it once but if you do it on a regular basis and don't know what your doing you can wind up with heart problems.
