Default Boob job more painful than childbirth??

I am considering a breast augmentation, and I want to know how intense the pain is during recovery. I never had a child, so I don't know what that feels like to bear a child, but I do know that childbirth is extremely painful, does a breast augmentation that goes under the muscle hurt THAT bad, or no??

I guess I'm a bit turned off the pain. When you had your BA, was the pain bearable, or was it the worst pain you've ever felt in your life? Thanks

No pain no gain! Depending on whether you get over or under the muscle implant placement, the surgery can be result in pain which can range from severe for 3 or 4 days to taking one prescription pain pill and switching to tylenol 12 hours after surgery. Every girl reacts differently.

My liposuction was 3 times more painful than my boob jobs. And none of these compares to childbirth.

While I haven't experienced the pain of either a boob job or childbirth, a dancer I used to know was talking about it and she said she would rather give birth 10 times in a row than get another boob job, that is how painful it was for her. I guess it is just part of the price you pay for a bigger chest.

I've had a boob job, childbirth, and a tummy tuck. Of the three the least painful was the boob job, followed by childbirth. To be fair, th boob job was over the muscle. And for the chilbirth I had an epidural. But by far the tummy tuck recovery was the most pain I'd ever felt in my life for the first few days.

my boob job wasn't that painful... mine was about 3 days of moderate to occasional severe discomfort if I did something strenuous, followed by a week or two of mild tenderness.
some women experience alot more pain.

but, I would say the same is probably true for child birth as well as other things in life. Everyone experience things differently.
Don't base your decisions pain... there are so many other things to base it on.
such as health or your goals... etc.etc.

    there are so many variables.

Everyone is different. I know many women that have had breast implants and each has a different story. The one common I can state is that after all is said and done, all of them would do it over again in a second (and some have).

Childbirth is different for each lady as well. No two stories are the same.

Your plastic surgeon should ask you many questions and examine you before deciding what placement, method and implant will be best for you. From what I know, the pain can be handled through medication if needed.

I have experianced natrual childbirth, but not BA. My mom however has had both and she said during her recovery, that the first thing she thought about with pain comparison was chidbirth, but it wasn't as bad. Here's how I look at it. They are both painfull, but breast implants HELP your bodys appearance, having babies usually doesn't.

I was the reverse of Melonie, my boobs were much worse than my lipo. I didn't have a ton of lipo, though, just my potbelly, but I also didn't get as much boobage as Melonie

I haven't had children, so I can't compare. Boobs were pretty damn sore for a good week, only a little bit of bleeding near one incision for about an hour. My BF gave me percoset every 4 hours, for that week, but I'm a HUGE wuss. Getting the stitches out a week later sucked, you should take a painkiller an hour before that. I wish I would've. I was able to comfortably massage them about 10 days post-op.

I have to say - the ends DEFINTELY justify the means!

I suspect those who said the boob job was the more painful, had an epidural. I vote childbirth as the most painful, hands down (and any other emphatic statements you can think of). The boob job (unders, btw) didn't even come close.

Curious, I have had 1 baby with an epidural, one baby naturally, breast implants, and liposuction.
Having natural childbirth was the most painful, but it was also the shortest period of pain, because I had already had one child, the second one comes a lot quicker! He was almost born on the side of a Georgia Highway!
The boob job was second most painful, but the pain medication made me feel so naueous and ill, which was worse than the pain. And it is very frustrating recovery, you can barely sit up or lie down without help. You cant brush your teeth, wash your face! Limited arm movement. You need a caring person with you for a couple of days. But yes it is totally worth it if you have a good doctor and get the appropriate surgery for you. BTW, I had implants partially over and partially under the muscle.
The lipsosuction was the least painful and least annoying.

I have never had a baby .. but I have unders. I also had an internal lift so my recovery was a bit worse than some of the other girls. They did alot of stuff with my muscles so it was rough. I lived in my recliner for about a week .. only got up to shit shower and shave. I ate there, slept there .. my hubby loves me and did everything for me. I took a demerol pill once every two hours or two every four hours. I slept a lot because of the meds. WHen I went to my first post op appointment they told me to try to get up and around more. I went to walmart and was EXHAUSTED by the time I got home. I couldnt bend over or pick anything up heavy. It was still rough for a while, i just had to be careful. I only took pain meds for the first week then tylonal. It took a long time before i was able to sleep in the bed or lie flat, even on my back or side. It just hurt to lay like that so i continued sleeping min my recliner. It was about 4-5 weeks post op that i really started feeling like they were my boobs and not water baloons in my bra. It also started to get comfy to bend over without holding them and sleep in the bed.
Good luck it was deffinitly worth it.

    EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT!

When I got my implants (May, 2002), I went under the muscle and when I awoke, I was in mild-severe pain. Mostly just shocked after being out and in the recovery room...recovering! I'll tell you what was worse was the ammnesia...it totally fucked me mentally. Six months I was a headcase! NEVER AGAIN. Well...I hope I don't have the same reaction.
As far as the recovery time...I went out Saturday night (with the help of some pain medication and my boyfriend-at-the-time) and my surgery was Thursday morning.

I've heard of some women taking much longer than 2 1/2 days to recover. I like to say it's all in your head....but, then again...I am not in any other woman's head after especially after they've woken up with brand new boobs!!

Just go for it and don't let your mind think too much.

its a way different kind of pain.

Because a BA is a pain that goes on for a few days. Labor isn't that long without some sorta help usually.

I've had 2 kids. One at 10 4 and the other at 11 lbs 8 oz. Neither were a c-section. The first was a HORRIBLE painful birth.

I can say the pain is seperate. But yes the boobs were horrible. Not sure if it was because it was my first surgery and it was more fear then anything else, added in with I couldnt take any pain meds because they made me throw up ..

    to each his own.

My issue was I couldnt sleep on my belly, so rest didnt come easy. And the charley horses in my breasts from the implants.

Knowing what I know now, I'd get a script of Ambien, anti nausea pills and loratabs ..also something like vioxx ( to take down the swelling quicker. )

I've never had children but am now nearly 1 week post-op, still in pain and not able to do much. I got 360 ccs under, cut on the crease, which is where it is really sore, especially the right one for some reason. I have to wear this special sports bra 24-7, which really sucks. I tried not wearing it and woke up in worse pain than usual. The pain still interrupts my sleep and I have to get up and eat something with the pills. I stopped the pain meds for a couple of days b/c of the nausea, but now am taking half doses of vicodin. I'm a little frustrated b/c I thought I was healing exceptionally well. The doctor says I'm in good shape, though. He's very pleased with himself.

It's too early for me to say whether it's worth it or not. My dog and I are miserable to be cooped up in the house, unable to take our daily runs ... especially with the weather so nice here.

If I could pig out that would help, but trying to keep my weight down (since can't exercise) and I've had to quit smoking (which is good ... needed to do that anyhow). But it really sucks right now.

I agree with Tart about the anti-nausia pills. I didn't get them and regretted it.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand how many dancers(at my work, mostly) said that their boob jobs were more painful than childbirth. Maybe they weren't prescribed the right meds, or maybe they went to a shady doctor, I don't know...aside from the extreme grogginess and the feeling of a headache on my chest for the first few days, I don't think the pain from a boob job was that unbearable. If you want to get your boobs done, I think it makes the pain more bearable and less intense.

And when I said this at work, I was met with much opposition from girls who said "but you don't have any kids, how can you say it's not more painful than childbirth?!" Well I don't have kids and I didn't tell my coworkers the next part but I did have a miscarriage about 3months into pregnancy with no meds at all...I can say it was more painful than a boob job.

I had a Ba and I must say it was nothing compare to natural child birth. A Ba is was quick and easy, Child birth was the most horrible pain I have ever experience.
