    Default Birth control Patch

I just started using the b/c patch yesterday. It can be put on your butt, hip, stomach, upper arms or back. I dance nude so my butt, stomach, and hips are out. I have it on my arm right now and you change it every week to a new location. At work tonite 3 people (staff, dancers) asked me if I was gonna smoke the cigarette I just put in my mouth. I explained it's not a nicotine patch but a b/c patch. No prob. it was cool. I don't plan on telling customers though. What if they smell smoke on me? Should I say it's a bandaid? Next week I'm gonna put it on my back so my hair will usually hide it.

Any advice? Have any ladies here used this? Any problems or side effects? I've heard too many horror stories from the Depo injection (randoming bleeding for up to 3 months) to take my chances with that.

Yes, i have a friend right now who wears one. She is a Go-Go dancer at a club down the street. Even though she is in a cage, and not nude, the patch stays on the foot, not sure about the bottom, and her back of neck. She wears it very high on the back of the neck, you know shaves away those little hairs. And wears a closed foot heel for dancing.

So far she says never been noticed.
Don't know how effective this is, but she has also cut them down smaller.

My doctor who prescribed it for me says it's been used in the UK for years. ??? Or maybe it's the sales pitch.....

Yeah alot of docs like to use that line to make us feel comfortable using something new or questionable. "Oh they've been using it in Europe for eons!" Doesn't mean it's dangerous, but I'd recommend doing your research first.

I wanted to try the patch but they were all out and instead of waiting I chose to go with the Nuvaring instead. What a weird form of birth control it is. If you're not familiar with it, it looks like a large condom ring but without the condom. Does that make sense? It's a big flexible ring that you place inside your vagina for 3 weeks. The problem is it keeps coming out when I have sex. Now that's not a problem per se as far as birth control goes...but it's like some kind of cock ring toss...if you get my drift. I'll definately be checking out the patch.

Pamela, you may want to tell your friend NOT to put it on her foot. I'm no Doc, but my nurse and the pamphlet were VERY specific on wear it should be placed. I can't imgine cutting it is a good idea either, as it contains medicine. I would think she is taking a risk. I acttually talked to a new girl at work last night who said she had used it and din't like it. She showed me a square patch mark on her butt that had very slightly discolored her skin. I'll let you know if I have any more problems.
