the thing that made my skin look the best was glycolic peels at the dermatologist. i havent had one in a long time, but when i was getting them for 2 months, every other week, my skin looked so good!! i was wondering, has anyone tried the glycolic peel by l'oreal?
i bought one the other day but havent used it yet b/c i was taking anti-biotics which made me sensitive to the sun, and the peel also does that, so i am waiting until anti-biotics are finished to try it.
i highly recommend glycolic peels. it takes a few of them to tell a difference, but it does not cause any redness, peeling, etc. i hope i can get similar results with this at-home kit but i dont expect it to be as good as the real thing from the dermatologist's office.

i use that juice bar-cotton candy--body spray at work. body fantasy makes one also that is a little more subtle. guys always like the cotton candy scent!

witch hazel and cetaphil are great too, although lately i have just been using cetaphil and one of those buffing sponges, no toner/astringent or moisturizer even, well sometimes in the daytime, a moisturizer with spf. my skin is looking pretty clear.

for lip plumpers- i have tried several, from cheapie to the expensive. the one i have right now is lip fusion from sephora. it is pricey _$38!! but i have really thin lips and that is one thing i dont mind spending money on if it works. you have to use it a lot and nobody else is going, "omg your lips are huge!" lol. but i can tell a difference. and if you already have decent size lips, it works better, my friends tried mine and i could tell immediately their lips looks fuller. bitches. lol

venus for blackheads you need to exfoliate regularly...with a gentle scrub or one of those buffing sponges with your cleanser. you have to be very gentle at first with the buffing sponge, then after a few days when your skin is used to it you can use more pressure. or if you have the money, glycolic peel will help that too.

Here are some of my favorites..

Baby oil for eye makeup removal... followed by oil of olay daily facials wipes, they are great and cheap, really take off makeup and gently exfoliate my skin.

Tea tree oil blemish stick from the body shop for pimples, this works like magic for me.

Tend skin (from tendskin.com and sephora.com) for ingrowns and razor bumps... this stuff is amazing, and it is the only thing that works for me, after trying what feels like a million different products.

Body Butter from the body shop (i love the passionfruit one.. it smells yummy). this is great for moisturizing knees and elbows when they are dry. just don't use it heavily right before stage time.

MAC eye paints in bare canvas. I love it. It's a nude base that I put all over my lids before I apply my eye makeup... it makes it hold ALL night. I never have to reapply my eyemakeup... just mascara. It also comes in other shades that you can work into your eyemakeup routine... I also like the cotton candy color.

Garnier Fructis Long and Strong weightless anti-split ends treatment for my hair... cheap and smells yummy. i put it on my ends and brush it through after i wash my hair.. then style. it really works and protects my hair from heat damage. it doesn't leave hair greasy at all.

Shu Uemura's eyelash curler (also sephora.com)... simply the best on the market.

Tonalin CLA... look up the threads. i'm a believer. i lost so much cellulite from this stuff and take it religously. It also makes your skin baby smooth. Also Walmart hair pills, great stuff.. my hair is getting stronger and longer. I love supplements, you gotta work from the inside out.

St. Ive's Apricot scrub in Gentle... great exfoliator.. also cheap and works great... very gentle on my sensitive skin... i even use it on my kitty sometimes before shaving to help prevent ingrowns.

Water... the greatest beauty product of all. I drink tons of it.. and it helps my skin stay clear and flushes out all of the toxins.

Keep this thread going... i love finding new products and tricks to try out.
    xoxo.

Has anyone used that Bare Minerals makeup? There's a girl at work who swears by it... I'm curious to try it.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS wash your face before you go to bed, no matter HOW tired you are...

When in doubt, use Noxema (it works, I tell you)

If you get a pimple beofre work or an important date, make it into a beauty mark (use black liquid liner)

To moisturize your skin all day (this especially works in the winter): When you get out of the shower, slather on baby oil, then towel off. Not even water will penetrate that now...soft, soft, soft (and CHEAP)

To keep your feet looking good between pedicures and to save them from the wear and tear of work, buy a pumice stone and use it in the shower to scrub your feet.

Pick up some exfoliating gloves (you can even get them at WalMart of Target) and use them when you shower. Makes a world of difference in your skin (they help prolong the mani/pedi, too).

Do light weekly peel of your face. When you're older, you'll be glad you did... I use the products from www.perfectcomplexion.net and I get compliments all day about how great my skin is...the TCA cleanser is heavenly.

NEVER LEAVE THE HOUSE WITHOUT SOME KIND OF SPF ON YOUR FACE (when you start doing the peels, this will be a definite MUST)

When you brush you teeth, brush your lips, too. It exfoliates them and plumps them a bit naturally...

Get one of those pill holders and put all your lipsticks in it...then you have all your colors in one place and you can actually use it all (Sephora has something specifically for this, but you can use a butter knife and get a pill holder from the 99 cent store)

Never underestimate the effect of an eyebrow wax on your face...

Go to your hairdresser blow out your hair/do an updo/anything else you do on a regular basis-then when you're there, learn how to do it yourself (ask questions and watch). It saves you money and time...
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Do unto others as you would have them do to you...it's less work to be nice than it is to be evil!

    Bella,

    Bare Minerals - Freakin' awesome!

I hardly ever wear foundation or concealer or anything because no matter what I try, it always looks cakey. I just hate when you get up close to a person and you can just see the makeup slathered on.

Anyway, went to one of Victoria's Secret store openings and got a makeover and the lady (whose makeup I actually did like, btw) told me go to Bare Escentuals, lol.

So I did. And it is expensive! But I'm hooked. It goes on so nicely, can't really see it at all, stays on pretty well with the 'mineral veil', looks natural, gives me near-perfect skin, and has SPF15! It's a little 'cultish' because of all the crap you 'have' to buy, but I do really like it. Oh, and they hype up the importance of their special brushes (to the tune of $22 for one). Although I did try my usual ones and they sucked, so I'm gradually buying theirs. LOL, I'll let you know my new BE cult name when it's assigned to me.

The ppl at the stores really listen to what you want, too. I'm a 'fair-skinned', lol, blue-eyed brunette, so they always slap purple and blue crap on me and I hate it but they always try to tell me how great it looks. We're talking Malibu Barbie down to the purple mascara, here... Anyway, I told the BE lady that I abhor unnatural colors, so she let me try a few pinkish-tan, glimmery colors and I loved them! I look totally natural... and a little bit pretty You can see that the makeup is there, but it's not like 'Hello, MAC!' (Not that MAC doesn't have good stuff, but you get the point...)

That was long. I'm just buzzing on this whole Bare Escentuals thing!

(Oh, and I found the greatest lip gloss color ever - Matches my lips perfectly!)

They have a useless website and a mail-order club (better site). Ironically enough, Sephora's website seems to be the most helpful.

I use ProActive every now and then, but I wash my face with Noxzema every night before I go to sleep and when I wake up. It works wonders. I get a avocado mask every week, it gives your skin moisture, and once a week I steam my face with chamomile tea, it cleans out your pores like crazy...

I use Avon products...They're good and cheap, I use everything from chapstick to mascara, except foundation. I use Covergirl for foundation and powder because it's easier to find a shade that matches your skin tone.

Avon also got some great lotions, Care Deeply with cocoa butter is the best, even though I'm not a big fan of cocoa butter, I like this one. I like Dove deodorant and I use Love Spell body spray by Voctoria's Secrets. It smells good and stays on for a long time.

My hair is always a hot mess, so I have to use Body Silk...Last time I went to the hair salon they told me not to wash my hair everyday because it's so damaged from all the hair products, curling irons, straightening irons...They told me to wash my hair twice a week but working at the club it's hard because of all the smoke and stuff, the smell just get's in your hair, so I wash it every other day.

Oh you just boil some water, you can use chamomile tea or just the dried herb that you can buy at any grocery store...leave it covered in the water for 5 minutes or so until the water is yellow...take a towel and cover your head with it...make sure you don't cover your head all the way, otherwise you won't be able to breath with all that steam..steam your face for a few minutes and then wipe your face with a clean towel or cotton pads and continue doing so until you feel your pores are open and clean..wash your face and put a moisturizer on your face...a friend of mine has a lot of blackheads on her nose, chin, and forehead...after she steams her face, she takes a clean ring (yeah, a ring, just a regular ring that goes on your finger) and she presses it up her skin...since the steam opens up your pores and makes your skin really soft, it makes the blackheads come out easy, without leaving red marks or scars...I love steaming my face..I do it at least once a week..you should definately try it...

Sally Hansen's "Airbrush Legs" is a great product to cover strech marks and slight imperfections. I recently had a baby, and use it to even out my skin tone. It also gives a slimming effect. I personally use Deep Glow.

Except you can't wear this at work. It'll wear off on customers' clothing.

That is true. We have 3-foot laws in this club, so, I haven't really had a problem with it getting on anyone's clothes.

Nice tips! I need a lil help with something in particular tho- I'm still newish and just now running out of my trusty old Clinique 'complete coverage' or similar concealer/base, it's real heavy stuff, what I use for zits and covering anything else on my bod and works well. It's been seriously a long time since I bought it though, I dunno if they even still make it, and anyway I'm just wondrin if anyone has any concealer recs I could look at too, thx!

P.S. I also used to use and love a certain brand of heavy concealer/base made for people with dark scars or burns- it was so thick you could build volume to some extent. Don't recall what it was called now except that it wasn't dermablend, and I found it thru an infomercial, and the kit came with like 3 shades you mixed to taste per use... sound familiar to anyone?
