    Default surgery scars

first i would like to thank all of you, i decided last month that i wanted to be a dancer after visiting a few topless/ nude clubs, and everything that i have read here has given me much confidence and insight that i otherwise could've only gained through experience. (experience may be the best teacher, but a headstart is also beneficial). my question is this: i have recently had hernia surgery which left two 3/4 inch scars on each side of my abdomen, mostly covered by a low slung thong. In three weeks i have to go back and have surgery for endometriosis which will leave a scar in my bellybutton and 2 more scars, one on either side of my stomach. If they are anything like my hernia scars they will be bright purple on my otherwise pale skin. are there any makeup tricks or special products you ladies could reccomend to cover these up while they fade? I apologize if this has beenasked/ answered before, i have read a good deal of these posts but i don't recall finding anything about very drastic scars.

While I have never used any of these products, I hear that Dermablend cosmetics are good for hiding scars and such, you can go to their website at www.dermablend.com. I wouldn't worry too much though, as the clubs are pretty dark and your scars won't be as noticable. You say you have pale skin and your scars are easily visible...maybe you could try tanning as well to hide the appearance of scars? (sorry, I am just obsessed with being tan ). Or, I know of a couple girls who have had kids and have bad stretch marks on their stomach and while they are on stage, they leave their dress on, just pull down the top and pull up the bottom. In the VIP rooms they take it all off but it is definitely darker back there than on stage.

    Hope these suggestions help

If you do decide to tan , be careful. Red scars tend to darken under tannning lights. The tanning bed can also prevent red scars from fading. Maybe a self tanner is a better option for you.

My doctor gave me some samples of a product called "Scarfade" to use on my surgical scars. I don't know what it costs or what the ingredients are, but I have the phone number for you to get more information:

    1-800-771-2215

It's a gel that you apply twice a day to help scars heal, lighten and flatten out. I've only been using it for 2 days since I just got my surgery tapes taken off yesterday, but I've heard great reports from people who have used this product. Another good one is Scarguard. Do a search engine lookup on it and you should find some info.

    Hope this helps!

I believe there was another thread that dealt with scarring as well. You may wish to search for it within this thread, as it would provide you with further good advice.

Is the endometriosis surgery going to be laparoscopic? If it is, the scarring should be so minimal as to be essentially unnoticeable. My daughter had laparoscopic surgery for pyloric stenosis, with one incision through the belly button and two others near it. The only reason I even know where those incisions were is because the doctor told me, and she has the absolutely tiniest scar on her belly button from a single stitch.

The only other way I can imagine them doing it is through either a D&C style procedure, which does not leave external scarring, or through a bikini-cut c-section, like they would for some tubal ligartions and hysterectomies.

Do you know yet what kind of incisions will be made? Because that would be a critical factor in determining what, if any, scar minimization and coverage would be needed.

I had my surgery on monday morning. They took a fibroid out from between my uterine lining and uterine muscle wall, gave me a D&C, made the three incisions on my abdomen and lasered the endometriosis tissues in my abdominal cavity. While the doctor was in ther she found that my appendix was enlarged (very enlarged) so the mad another incision slightly lager than the rest, cut up my appendix and basicly "sucked it out with a staw". I am very swollen an sore, but the cuts a tiny and one is even in my navel, so hopefully I can start dancing in 3-4 weeks, when my doctor releases me back to work

Just make sure not to push yourself too quickly! I had a similar surgery a few years ago (laparoscopic assisted hysterectomy), and although the external scars healed quickly I was sore and tired for quite some time. I wasn't able to return to work for 5 weeks, and I was working a desk job. Even then I was wiped at the end of the day. Give your body as much time to heal as you can.

I would avoid makeup at all cost's, it's messy and hard to keep coverage especially in an area as active as your abdomen. My girl's have scar's, stretch mark's and pre-period pimple's, not to mention rasor burn and various other skin imperfection's.
If at all possable have your DJ ( if he can ) use only red and black light's on you, they hide most if not all your sin's. It's a little hard to get used to but it work's. I have only red and black light's in my club and my girl's look perfect on stage, even the one with a 5 inch hernia scar in the crease of her leg ( bikini line ) and we are a nude club.

if i were u i wouldnt tan... it only makes my scars darker... one thing i recommend that i use on my scars and friend's bruises would b a simple concealer stick... a yellow one. there are two base color concealers women used to use before we had the fancy color matched ones of today... green (which works great on redness on pink toned skin...) and yellow (which covers on yellow toned or olive toned)... my mom introduced these to me and they really do blend away most anything scary such as bruises and scars.

crazybob, can you elaborate more on the lights, and what colors help hide what imperfections? I remember reading a post about stretch marks in which someone said you should use blue, purple, and white lights. I'm confused. Thanks.

Anais, I really think the black light's help with that, about half of the girl's in the club have stretch mark's to some degree. My wife gave birth to 3 children and although you couldn't tell it to look at her ( she is one of the blessed one's ), she didn't get out of it unscathed she has the minimal amount of stretch mark's on her breast's and butt. She tan's although I don't notice it helping or hurting her skin on stage. With the mixture of red and black light's we can't notice any scar's, stretch mark's or blemishes from like 3 feet away. Some people's scar's and stretch mark's are more obvious then other's and the contrast in color is harder to hide but the light's really do help. The down side is make up, you will need more of it and of coarse color's that contrast with red or it won't show. I had a blonde haired girl running late one night and to avoid a late fine she got on stage without makeup, she had no lip's or eye brow's and well to be quite frank looked kinda scary. She never show's up late anymore. The easiest way to see the result's of these light's is to go to walmart and buy a 50 watt black light and a coupla red one's, get in a dark room with a mirror and kick them on in the dark and see what happen's to your complexion ( just remember you know where you weak spot's are so your eye will be more critical than a customer's ) . My girl's have so much confidence with them that they refuse to work under any other light's at all.

My surgeon instructed me to NOT TAN MY SCARS for at least a year or they WILL get darker. If you want to tan you need to cover up the scar. I used a high SPF on my scars and covered them up with band-aids.

I had an appendectomy years ago. Most scars from that particular surgery are small, about 2 inches long or so. However, mine begins right under my belly button and ends just above my hip. It's very difficult to hide, though God knows I try. The club I work at is really more just a bikini club so it's out there whether I like it or not. If you act like it isn't there, the men won't give it a second glance. No worries.

go to a big city plastic surgeon to be sure of getting the best possible minimization of scarring-NYC or LA would be best
    guess who's back? back again
