    Default Tummy tucks and lipo

    ???
I am a former dancer who is thinking of getting back into things. I have had kids and lost most of the weight, just have a couple of pockets on my hips and loose tummy skin. Can anyone tell me anything about lipo and tummy tucks as in the costs, the scarring, and anything else you can think of? Thanks

Instead of worrying about surgical methods..why don't u consider exercise? Cardio and weight training will melt those 'pockets of fat' away. Try these websites out for more info. They even have pictures to show!

I am not so concerned about the pockets----those are going away and I am a regular exerciser---6 days a week actually. The main question is in regards to a tummy tuck. All the exercise in the world doesn't help if your skin is loose from having kids. My skin's elasticity is not good---hence I am considering a tummy tuck.

well if you are interested in a tummy tuck, then you should just go to a search engine and look up all the info you can. From what I understand tummy tucks leave alot of scarring, all the pics I have seen have a scar line almost all the way across your body in the lower abdomen area. So I dont know if tummy tuck is a way to go if you are planning on dancing. Im sure there are alternative options if you are just worried about loose skin and not fat, depending on the severity I guess. Maybe you should go to a dermatologist not a surgeon and they might have some recommendations.

I had a tummy tuck after my last baby. I'm not fat, 5'2" 115lbs, but I had loose skin on my belly. I couldn't stand looking like I had a Shar Pei on my stomach! My PS knew I was a dancer (topless), and I wore a g-string the day of surgery so he could make the incision in the right area. Dancing nude would probably not be an option since the scar is from one hip to the other. You'll need to take at least 3-4 weeks off work. Also, ask your PS to put your drains in your pubic area, they leave scars also, but not bad (1/4 inch). Mine weren't covered by my g-string and I had to use makeup on them for awhile.

April's 100% right - any surgery which actually cuts and removes skin, like tummy tucks and breast lifts, will result in major scars where the two formerly separate pieces of skin are joined together. Sometimes the scar can be "strategically positioned", like along the bikini line or in the breast fold, to minimize its obvious presence, but scars simply cannot be avoided. They look terrible for 3 months, they look bad for 6 months, and after about a year they merely look like scars.

A friend of mine had gotten lipo she was bruised from her chest down to her knee's she was in a lot of pain for about 4 weeks, She said to me if she had it to do all over again she wouldn't do it. She also said that it was 10 times worse that her breast enhancements.

With lipo you still have to diet and work out to keep it off she did not and well it don't even look like she has even had it done.

Sullen girl, the long obvious scars comes with a full tummy tuck. It is possible you only need a mini-tuck if its just a bit of loose skin that needs removing and they can tighten your abdominal muscles too. So check out some good doctors and get several opinions. A mini tuck is just a scar that can be hidden in the thong/gstring area, and your pubic hair can cover it if you dont completely shave that area. Its not the scary hip to hip scar. Tummy surgery is quite paiinful, but again, theres less pain involved in the mini tuck. Good luck!!!

What about the tuck that's done through the navel? It's suppose to be a scarless tummy tuck. Anyone heard of this?

A girl I wrok with did the same thing and you can't see her scar at work for nothing!

If you just need to remove the etra skin, ask for a mini, or a Hollywood tuck.

Basically they just cut out the extra skin, and tighten the area and re sew you back together.

That's what I want done. I had a consult, and my muscle is great, I just need to get rid of the etra skin from kids and a c-section.

Doc said I would be off work for a few weeks or so, and that it wouldn't be as bad, as a c-section or anything. So I'm pretty confident that I'll be ok after the fact.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do, I know how hard it is to deal with that skin, and no matter how hard you try you can't get rid of it.
