    Default The hair down there....

This is like a mystery to me. I've been reading on here, and it seems like everyone shaves. How do you get the perfect hairless look? Everytime I shave (and I've tried it many ways.... hot, cold, new blade, different razors, different shaving creams) it turns out badly over-all... unless I shave against the hair, and then I get BAD bumps and it itches like a whore for a few days. Do you just put up with it and keep shaving and eventually it works? Argg I'm so frustrated. I was just going to go get it waxed, but is that all its really made up to be? I don't mind pain, so that's not a factor... which is the best method?

    Shan is correct,
i use the Mach 3, and a mans sensitve shaving cream while in a warm tub. Never shave opposite the hair growth. After shaving i have a smooth look, that lasts a couple days stubble free. I rub hypoallergenic lotion on the area after the shave. My Ob, also told me vitmain E capsules will also help the skin stay soft after shaving and very smooth.

Ps i had a waxing, and it hurts some. Keeps hair away a little longer, but cost more money in the long run with same results if you shave correctly.

I've never been able to get all the hair down to the skin (there's always a little stubble) unless I shave against it. It's driving me insane. ???

I can't get smooth either unless I shave "against the grain" at least once. As long as you don't do it repeatedly you shouldn't get razor burn. Also, Bikini Zone works wonders for keeping away irritation if applied right after shaving.

WAX< WAX<WAX<WAX<WAX. I have been waxing for seven years now, basically ever since I've had pubic hair b/c of sports and stuff. I still have skin discolorations and marks from the first time I shaved. Shaving in any shape, form or fashion is bad business for me. So I wax.
It hurt like hell the first time. Now its just a little annoying, but my waxer and I yak away while she snatches the hair off my snatch and I only say ouch when she goes deep into the pubic curve. I do totally bare and the pubic curve hurts the most, but its tolerable. I've gone from getting just the sides when I was 13 for cheerleading and track, basic french (landing strip) when I was 15, to cuban (landing strip about postage stamp size) at around 16, and then totally bare when I was 18.
I used to use bikini zone and it is fabulous for all who shave or use depilatories. My skin kinda got used to it so now I use tend skin and it works wonders as well.

I think it might be just a matter of your skin getting used to it. I know every time I stop shaving for a few months it takes a little while for my skin to calm down when I start again.

Go to Sally Beauty and get TendSkin (or a similar product if they don't have it, but TendSkin works the best). Shave with the hair and apply TendSkin for a couple days, then go against the hair and apply TendSkin, then go with it for a couple days again. It'll get used to it.

I agree with Lena on this one - when I first started shaving, there was a little irritation and discomfort - but as time went on and my skin got used to it, the irritation just stopped - now I can shave everyother day (sometimes everyday if I work 2 nights in a row), with no irritation. All I use is Dermalogica shaving emollient(it's a water soluble oil) and a Mach 3 razor.

I also tried waxing, and while the end result is great, I simply have no patience to deal with the "grow-back" stage, to get the hair long enough to wax again!

I agree with Jax... i hate to wait for the hair to grow back, so I dont bother at all. I shave every other day as well. At first it got red and bumpy, and now its rare, unless I work and do grinding lap dances. Either way your skin will get used to it.

I prefer waxing to shaving myself. What I'd really like to do is the laser hair removal. How do you find someone who waxes it all the way? Does this include front and back or just your front pubic area? I'll try the shaving methods above though, I haven't tried it that way. Perhaps I'll like it better than waxing. But since I like it hairless ultimately I think waxing or laser will work best because it grows back SOO fast when I shave and you'd think I'm a master yogi if you saw the positions I have to get into to shave it bare!

Oh, also, I got my lower back and my arms waxed once and they broke out in red bumps! Was it because I'm not used to it? Is there some way I can prevent it?

I have been shaving down there since I was about 14. I could never stand there being hair there. (It made me feel real gross) I make sure that the water is hot and then I too use the mach 3 razor. I put conditioner on it while i am washing my hair so it has time to soak into the hair to make the hair much softer. Then I use mans sensitive shaving gel. I shave downward first and then I will go upward once to get the stubble off. When I get out of the shower I apply a hypoallergenic lotion to the area. And it is real smooth. Good luck and have fun!

Sylph-a Brazillian usually will include both the front and the back (sometimes the tech will even have you get on all fours. A thing to keep in mind however (this may not factor in depending on what type of dancer you are (nude/topless) but in order to wax, you need to let the hair grow in each time (which is why I finally gave up on waxing) I think hair needed to be at least 3/4 of an inch long. As for red bumps... waxing can (and did for me) cause ingrown hairs.. For "after care" after waxing I was told to use Witch Hazel, which cooled the skin and kept it clean.

As someone who has been waxing my pubic area for about 5 years, I can truely say that it gets less and less painful the more times you do it. Tend Skin is absolutely a must for sensitive skin! As for letting it grow in b4 waxing again: I work in Canada so it's all nude all the time here, and I simply tweeze the noticeable hairs up front and no one has any idea there's a little fuzz there. It's not like shaving when it all grows in at the same time...it's practicly invisible unless you are in very bright light. It's soft, not coarse like a man's face. I founfd it far to irritating to have that "prickly pear pussy", even when it came to simply wearing panties! As a trained esthetician as well, I noticed that since I finished school and was taught the proper ways to wax my results were much better with less ingrowns, irritation etc. You must also be pretty creative with a hand held mirror in order to get everywhere smooth and hairfree, but once you figure out wheat's best for you, it's the only way to go in my books.

Something about a smooth, soft ,(even peachfuzzy at worst) bikini area is more appealing to me.

Go to a professional at first and learn a couple tricks from her. Also, it's well worth the extra money to get your hands on professional wax. It's professional for a reason, drugstore can't compare, and is much messier. I also find that "Nads" stuff to be crap. Just my opinion...

    Happy hair removal!

    Mach 3 Turbo razor.
Skintimate shave gel for Bikini / Underarm (yellow cap bottle, or - my new favorite - a small amount of ID Millenium lube. (Keeps the razor sharp as well as providing a damned smooth shave).
Lots and LOTS of hot water.
Cool (not cold) rinse after the fact.
Bikini Zone - but wait until your skin is thoroughly dry. If you put it on while your skin is still damp, it will sting like a bitch's tongue.
An occasional light scrub of the pubic mound with a very mild exfoliant - I like the Freeman Apricot Scrub, because it is a lot finer-grained than most things on the market. Might seem initially irritating, but it helps prevent ingrown hairs.
Moisturizer for sensitive skin - avoid AHAs and such unless your hide is the unflinching variety. Try to avoid the perfumed stuff, too.
Wash in between with an antibacterial feminine wash for sensitive skin, to prevent soap irritation of follicles or nicks. Huggies Ultra unscented baby wipes are good too, if you need to freshen up while working.
Stay far away from drugstore home-electrolysis kits.
It may also work well to first go over everything with an electric razor - to get most of the "dirty work" out of the way quickly and irritation-free, and then finish the job with your regular razor. I found that can save on some skin irritation.

Someone (was it Lena? or Alanna?) previously mentioned an electric razor that they thought was really good - something they found online, I think. Might be something to look into.

i must b a fluke of nature... when i started shaving ages ago i encountered those problems... itching... bumps, etc. but i am a smooth freak when it comes to my body... so i shave daily... this action actually desensitized me i think, like how plucking your eyebrows does if u do it often. i just shave with soap and my venus front to back then back to front on both sides, then hop outa the shower. i find strange shaving creams if anything irriate my skin and cause more bumps. just a bar of gentle ivory soap works wonders. i also found when i use bikini zone i almost become dependant upon it... and so i just continue my simple routine for now, and im smooth and razor burn free.

    Waxing for me :-)

I've been waxing since my mother first got me "done" when I was 12... I'm now 24. Due to having waxed for so damn long.. well.. what hair?

I used to get the normal bikini wax in that time so I don't get much "outside" pubic hair these days. I've only recently decided to remove more of my hair "down there" so that it is a patch.

Waxing really works if you've done it as long as I have. I would never have believed that I have gotten to a stage with my leg hair where I get my lower leg down once a month and leave the upper leg for once every 3 months (as the hair is so smooth, soft and fine it isn't noticeable and okay to feel).

The same with my under-arms.. it will never be a "bush" again. It is only slight growth and looks like a "shaving shadow" when its at its most grown out :-)

so I guess it is true that the more you wax the less hair grows? I've always had a lot of hair to take care of and I HATE it!!!

Mach 3 is my favorite choice. Another dancer gave me some good advice ~to help prevent the ingrown hairs or red bumps use some neosporin antibiotic ointment
    a little will do
right after you get out of the shower, just dab a little on the sensitive shaved area and smooth it in, it kinda keeps everything smooth and any little nicks or irritations dont have a chance to get more irritated or flare up.
I use it a few times until the sensitive areas get used to being shaved. Worked for me and I was a full nude dancer. (Especially for those damn hard to shave places! ouch)

I've been shaving it all for a really long time, my first BF asked me to and I've never gone back
I occasionally get razor burn, but it goes away in a few hours. I use Skintimate gel with Vitamin E. I have problems with shaving creams, and products for sensitive skin, they don't irritate, but they also don't get a close as I'd like, so I shave more often, so it causes bumps. I usually start running warm water into the bathtub and sit in it to shave my legs. I sit on the side of the tub to shave the bikini area, back to front. Aways shave using long, slow strokes...try to avoid having to go over the same area twice. Trust your eyes, sometimes, if it still feel rough it's because it's already becoming irritated, you'll make it worst by going over it again.
When your done, rinse off with cool water and pat the skin dry.
I usually use a cocoabutter lotion on my legs, but I use neosporin (I like the kind with pain relief) on any area that gets irritated.
I use the Gillette for Women, I like it because it's wide and easier to hold onto than the Mach 3. The blades are almost the same.

I've never tried waxing, but I've used all the creams and stuff....they're crap, I don't recommend it.
