Default OMG Chinese leg plastic surgery!

[shocked] [shocked] This was just on the news its a huge booming trend in china right now to get your legs lengthened, they hack and saw and wire up these womens legs for $15,000 dollars, and an average of an 8cm height/growth increase!
All in the name of vanity they say!

I cant believe I was ever mortified at getting my boobs done, whoa. (which btw was the easiest thing ever) [boobies]

I am totally shocked! That sent a chill right up my spine as I read it.
I have heard of women having a rib removed to accentuate their waists...a la Raquel Welch...
or perhaps thats just an urban legend...but this leg thing is too much..what sort of complications must these women face later in life!
As I have matured,I have learned "that one good turn....usually gets most of the blankets",-)

in the movie Gattaca they shorten someone's legs...

Always thought that would pretty much remain in the fantasy realm. I guess not. Is there ANYTHING money can't buy?

This is actually a pretty common thing for medical reasons too I guess. I need it done, I have a "limb length descrepency" in my legs. Drives me bugshit, but it's not really noticable. In the long run it could be super shitty for my back, but there's no way I'm wearing stupid shoes, or being out of commission for that long!

I read about this just a few weeks ago in Marie Claire, and it was so sad...the worst part was families that were saving for their daughters to get this done because it would increase their opportunities for jobs, marriages, etc. Apparently height is so important there, that people are regularily discriminated against for being too short. Even certain government positions have minimum height requirements for purely aesthetic reasons.
Yet another reason I am grateful to be living in North American, even with all our faults and problems!

Where is this story? Wow! But you know it's not much of a surprise considering limb-lengthening procedures are performed right here in North America fairly regularly for people born as midgets. I saw a story about this recently and apparently they can achieve as much as a foot in growth! They have to surgically attach special stretcher rods to your bones and turn the adjustments a quarter turn every day for months, which pulls the bone apart and forces it to heal in the new longer length. It leaves some pretty big scars, but hey, if you wanna be taller, there's a way! Then of course at the end you have to undergo another surgery to remove the appliances. They showed a man who was originally only 4'10 and they grew him to 5'10 - and a teenage girl who was under 4' and they got her to almost 5'. Damn, I guess I could get myself some surgery and grow tall enough to be a runway model!

Yes, money can't buy love, but it can definitely rent it for a while!

The bone lengthening procedure has been around for almost a decade, and was developed in Russia (for whatever reason I really don't know). The rib removal procedure is NOT urban legend - it's actually fairly easy surgery but rather expensive and very painful. Pre-molded implants are available right out of the catalog for breasts, lips, calves, noses, butt cheeks etc. and can be made to order for use in other body locations. Add in soft tissue procedures like lipo, botox, chemical peels etc, and a girl who has enough money can completely remodel herself!

This is actually starting to become a bit of an issue in some extremely upscale clubs. A few girls are starting to show up who can only be classified as '11's, who have a degree of physical perfection which is not possible by chromosomes alone. I'm hoping for the sake of younger dancers that future hiring standards will not start to 'ice out' girls who have not been so enhanced.

Maybe you'll recall the sci-fi movie 'Looker', where TV commercial actresses had their physical characteristics sampled by computer and were sent to the plastic surgeon to have their breasts made perfectly symmetrical, to have their nipples relocated and other stuff intended to achieve physical perfection. Perhaps shades of things to come for the ultra upscale clubs.

Yes the article. How sad. The purpose for the leg lengthening is to make the women taller (of course) and more attractive to men. Been around for ages.
There is a tribe in Africa that stretches a young (not fully) devevloped young girls legs everyday until she is crying and can't walk for a few hours. In hopes of making her taller.
Just like the neck ornaments, very long necks, that are actually broken at that point, and dependent on the neck rings.
The adding of rings is a tribal ritual for the woman, makes them beautiful. And another reason that i forgot. National Geographic is great reading. I do have the issue of Marie Claire too. The girls love it. All in the name of beauty, and to be taller.
Remember alot of what we read today about beauty has already been done but in another fashion of course since no tribal people don't have plastic surgeons. Piercing, hair dying, bleacing, leg extending, and remember corset training! That did not require surgery, but it worked, and messed your body up.
One country, ok , i would have to do a search, has let bees sting their lips for fatter lips in the past.
People will be people, just like bathing in sour milk for our skin, now we have Alpha Hydroxy to simply rub on.
Alot of ancient beauty rituals still going on in other more un-populated countries as well. Interesting reading. I get alot from blazing through National Geographic.
