    Default Nervousness on stage

I have been dancing over a month now and I find it easy. Well a week ago I switched clubs and I was very intrigued on how nice these girls were. Well last night while I was I got very nervous, I froze up, and had to run off stage to vomit. Why did this happen to me? I would appreciate anyone who could help me with this problem. Please! Thanks ladies!

Wow that seems like an extreme case of nervousness! I haven't had that happen, or seen it, so I don't really know what to say. But I would recommend some sort of calming exercise a few minutes before hitting the stage - breath deeply, clasp your hands tightly together, etc. Some of the other ladies here are into yoga and such, and can better explain some calming exercises for you. HTH!

Try to figure out exactly what caused the nervousness. Was it just the new club and surroundings? or was it something else? Work yourself through the incident in your mind and try to pinpoint the problem. Then give urself a pep talk. Make urself some flashcards that have encouraging phrases on them. Then try it again.

Here's a tip from my public speaking days that might help. Find a guy in the audience that is interested in you and dance just for him - shut everyone else out and ignore them. It's not a good idea to do this all the time as you should be working the floor, so if you can manage it, keep switching guys as you work through your routine.

Practice at home in front of a mirror so that you know your are good as well.

It's normal to get stage fright on occasion...

I've been perfoming in dancing for 7 years and in Theatre for 15 years.
    sometimes I still throw up.

The nice thing about dancing is you can close your eyes and hold on to the pole for dear life.

Just think to yourself... "it will be over in a minute"

I agree with Bridgette about the breathing exercises, especially if it happens alot.

Another thing is to pretend your someplace else.

maybe just don't eat alot before work. hehehehe

are you able to go on stage WITH another dancer?? i find i am compleatly at ease on stage if im up there with a ceertain dancer, we just make compleate asses of ourselfs, joking and having fun...helps me forget theres even a crowd there, and suprisingly, when we get off stage we usually have dances booked and waiting for us.
