I use a homeopathic allergy remedy (yes I know I know, I'm always on about the homeopathics... but only when they work). It is made by A. Vogel labs and should be available at any health food store or Trader Joe's market. Another thing that is good for the scratchy throat is this type of lozenges made with propolis. They are soft and taste like anise and contain no menthol (can't remember the brand name, but they come in a paper box). Anything made for singers that doesn't contain menthol should work, though. None of these things have side effects.

The one caveat with the A. Vogel stuff is that it takes a few days to start working but is worth it when it does start working.

    I had miserable allergies.

Lots pf people at the hospital say Claritin in good, and non-drowsey. However one nures said to have regular check ups, well like every 6 months for your liver. As some of us know all drugs go to our liver , and some can be more nasty then ever. Tylenol is another biggie for "messing with the liver", and alot of people take 3 a day! Lots of over the counter nasal sprays were once by script. only. But stay away from addictive properties in them, ask at the pharmacy, they know the drugs pretty well, and what may suit your body fine.
I pop a Benadryl, only HALF however. And do not get drowsey. But it takes my symptoms away. And will dry up a runny nose. But watch for a sinus infection, because you don't want to keep your nose dry all the time, let it run at times to clear out *you know yuk*.
Also drink lots of water for your throat, and suck on lifesavers. keeps the juices flowing! Saltwater rinses will be good for an allergic throat before bed. Warm water of course.
    Good luck..Pamela
