    Default Pilates

    Hi all,

Just wanted to ask, does anyone own a Pilates machine? I can get ahold of a JP Pilates performer for a good price, and wondered if anyone who owns it, loves it. (my apt is tiny so anything that takes up space, better have a good reason for being there!)

    thank you!!!

I personally think obtaining the machine is a little unnecessary, especially if you aren't trained to some level. I myself would just stick to videos and books. But if you're insistant on getting this machine, then get a personal trainer to assist you the first few times.

I agree - I'm doing just fine without a Pilates machine. I also don't have alot of space to work with so it makes it not viable for me. I just work with the Winsor Pilates videos.. I love the little "sheet" she also includes with the videos so I don't have to pop a video in each and every time.

I don't use a machine and I still get good results.

I have a Pilates machine. I do love it, even though it does take up a big space. As the others have noted, it isn't necessary; I just decided to treat myself to it and it came with a video. Also, I read some books and found out all I could about the different exercises, and have really enjoyed it.

A good alternative to the Pilates machine are pilates work out tapes I have a few and I love them for $20 dollars or so I'd have to say they do the trick.

Thank you all for your advice! I'll try the windsor tapes first, it seems like it really is popular for its strenthening properties. Yay, more space!!!!

I have a Pilates machine (well it hasn't actually gotten here yet but I ordered it.) IF you can get trained properly to use it, it's the best thing in the world. I trained with an instructer who has trained movie stars in LA and has been teaching for 30 years. I am blessed to have trained with her because there is NO ONE in my area nearly as good.
