    Default Sore Knees ....

I'm finding that the new club I'm working at is starting to take a toll on my knees.... just the way the private dance area is set out (and the rules we have to follow).

I can't wear boots of any kind at my club so that option is out..... my question is.... what can you recommend for me to do to look after my knees and/or to build knee strength??

All I can do right now is rub Vicks VapoRub into them before I go to bed and during the day.

    ??? ??? ???

"About bruising" is on here in this area. However, what you need to learn in addition to help your knees, is to learn dance moves. How to come down on the floor slow, and use your toes (believe it or not,) more so than your actuall knees while on stage on all fours. It takes time and practice to learn. I don't bruise much anymore, but have learned to corporate dance moves that enable me to "float" to the stage floor. And the use of my toes while stage crawling. It does help alot. Until they heal, ease up on them some, or they may callouse.
Then practice at home on carpet to start, with floor work. Then move on to tile or vinyl flooring. I know it sucks, and can never completely go away if you do alot of stage shows, but it gets better. ALOT better.

Are they just sore? sorry i re-read your post. If so, take it easy. This is excersise to them. And they are sore from your moving. They should adjust if you let them rest a day or 2 before starting up your private dances again. Use different variations on certain nights. Give them TLC at home. If they swell, cold packs will help. Swelling may not be good though. So watch for that. Warm soaks before bed will help them. I never had the problem with sore knees, but friends have. Just change routines alot. Thats important, it gives them a rest.

I don't need help with the bruising... my knees grew hard to that a long time ago. Brusising is not the problem....

I work 4 nights in a row ... 7.30pm until 5am. I can't work any other nights in the week due to other commitments I have.... that is why I'm asking about what I can do to make sure I don't do any damage to "inside" my knees :-)

    Thanks for the info...

Glucosomine is awesome for joint pain if taken regularly. For an old, arthritic bag like me it's a necessity.

Glucosomine supplements... which company supplies them? Would I find them in a "health food" shop or other such business? or would my best bet be a chemist?

Pamela is right about not being on your knees themselves - use your toes and arms to support you on the floor instead of putting your weight on your knees. I wish I had some pictures to demonstrate! I've been dealing with this too - at my last club we didn't do floorwork on stage and the new one I'm at I do a lot of it, so I'm getting adjusted, too.

Any type of vitamin or natural food store would have glucosamine supplements. I get mine at GNC, but I'm not sure if you have those stores in Australia. Also, you might want to pick up some Arnica gel while you are there. It's a homeopathic gel for soreness and bruising. It works well and makes bruises go away amazingly fast.
