    Default Fine straight hair HELP!!!

Ok, I have probably the straightest finest hair imaginable. It is past my shoulders and just lays there. I don't know what to do with it. I can't curl it, won't hold. I don't know what to do. I don't dance anymore and it never really bothered me when I did. But my hubby is taking me on a cruise next week and I have to wear a nice dress for the Captains dinner. I don't want to look stupid with my hair lying there all flat. If anyone has any ideas that can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

    Andromeda,

Oh I think we definitely did something not too good, (or really too damn good LOL ) in a past life to deserve the fine straight hair. I know exactly how you feel. Have you ever dyed your hair? I went for long layers too. The combo was exactly what did it. The chemical kind of bulked up my hair, which took to the layers better. I have the longer layers now, I first dyed it when the Jennifer "Rachel" Aniston haircut became the latest fad. (Sad isn't it, we looked like we stepped off a production line in NYC, all the girls with same damn flip at the ends haha).

Anyhow, it does seem to provide more body now, than it EVER had before.

    hope this helps,

    -Lara

Lara is correct, Go for laying or feathering all around the head, that does not mean you have to lose length, just short layers along with longer layers...great for fine hair. Also colouring or bleaching, even streaking will bulk up the hair shaft, means adding more volume as well. And a good shampoo for thin hair has ingredients to make hair look fuller (temperary.) And if you blow dry do so with your head up side down untill almost dry, then rub mouse or another product like a spritz of hairspray underneath. Flip your head up and use a light amount of mouse on top for more volume. If you have time big curlers are great for volume. The key here is not to damage with bleaching or dying and using heat alot. I would just have a consult. with a stylist. Good luck....Pamela

Since u're gonna be on a cruise of course u wash ur hair with ship water which is like super super purified well...for me that in combination with volumizer worked good.I also used finishing spray and curling irons to get my straight hair holding shirley temple type curls in mexico's heat.
The thing is really curl it a little and experiment with putting or pinning it up since captain's dinner is formal. By the way, captain's dinners are fabulous so have fun. The things is u really only need great hair for that nite cuz by the next day it'll be too damn hot at the next port of call for nething but a ponytail. I left my hair in those damn ringlets and had a shitty mess on my hands when i went snorkeling the next day.

As everyone else has suggested, try layering throughout the head. You may also try some voluminizing shampoo and conditioner. Try to steer clear of "heavy" products on your hair. That'll just weigh it down even more.

Oh i just got another idea. I dont know how well you'd liek this idea, but have you had anythoughts on getting your hair braided. That'll keep you free from having to fuss with it.

I would blow dry upside down like Pamela said and also maybe use a root volumizer. TIGI makes a great one. Just spray directly at roots, maybe massage it in a little, blowdry and voila....big, fluffly, pretty hair.
