Does anyone have any tricks for getting rid of undereye circles? I get plenty of sleep, don't do drugs, and rarely drink! I use MAC Studiofix, but lately it seems to just be ceasing up and getting goopy before it covers them up...

I just got a lancome concealer called photogenic that I like *much* more than the MAC concealer I was previously using. it's creamier and seems to blend better, and I think the color matches my skin better. This almost bothers me, 'cause I don't like spending $20 on a little tiny pot of makeup, but it's good stuff!
Aside from makeup, I've heard cucumber slices or tea bags on the eyes can reduce puffy-ness, but I don't really get puffy unless I'm crying or something, so I haven't really tried this.

1. Get one of those blue-jelly refrigerated eye masks. The ones that look like geeky sci-fi goggles? They work nicely.
2. Estee Lauder puts out an under-eye-circle minimizing cream which I have had a small degree of success, and they also put out a very nice concealer that works great for me.
3. Sometimes it can help to get some of those pigmented reflective creams and smear a little of that on to "smooth out your skin tone". Estee Lauder has one specifically for faces, but Nivea just put a body lotion that shimmers exactly the same and is MUCH cheaper and has about the same consistency. This stuff works well for me when I am especially tired and want that illusion of awake and perky on stage. Don't ask me how, but it has somehting to do with the very light sheen / shimmer that your skin takes on with this stuff.
4. Try sleeping with yur head propped up on an extra pillow. When you sleep with your head a little higher than the rest of your body, it helps any excess fluid under your eyes to drain. Small eye massages can help with this as well.
5. Take care of your sinuses and allergies. Sinus and allergy troubles can make you look puffier around the eye area - I know this from long experience.
6. Lots of water. Lots. LOTS.
7. Good diet. Certain vitamin deficiencies can cause these problems. I haven't had as much trouble since I started taking vitamins.
I have long experience with this because people in my family almost all have naturally dark circles under their eyes, and if we are the slightest bit sick, tired, or anything else, they get much much worse. Hopefully, some of this will help.

Oh, I forgot one other hting. Never tried this, but I have known dozens of girls who swore by it, and I do know that professional models use this trick.
If your eyes are really puffy, a little Preparation H is supposed to work miracles.
A little gross-sounding if you ask me, but I guess if it were a BRAND NEW tube...

Lancome Effecernes concealer and a little Yves St. Laurant Touch Eclat will camoflage even the nastiest circles.

for a relatively permanent cure (like 2 years worth) try collagen injections. Quick and easy, no anesthesia, and a whole lot less trouble than applying concealer every day.
Oooo, how do those collagen injections work? Where do they inject them at? About how expensive are they? (Sorry, I know, 20 questions, LOL!)
All the women in my family have dark undereye circles (hereditary) - that just can't be covered with ANYTHING - it's just the bone structure I guess... Maybe this could be a solution I should look into - I'm pretty self-concious about my undereye circles! And I've never heard of collagen injections as a solution...
Anyone with any info - it would be appreciated!!!
To add to what McCain said as a pre-contest trick we body builders have been using the old Preparation-H on our abs and lower back areas while in the tanning bed for years. 7 days of P-H and my abs look like they are wrapped with saran wrap instead of skin and for those that know what I mean it is the only way to get rid of the excess water that almost always seems to stay just below the surface in your glutes.
If you want to spend a little more money for the same results you can purchase Thiomucase cream from most designer food stores. Both methods remove the thin layer of water that hides below the skin in the mid section areas.
Those circles under your eyes are caused by your blood pressure and stress levels. Using ice or creams is one way to reduce the trauma to the area but also watch your caffiene intake as well.

This may sound kind of crazy but if you want to go the inexperience route get a spoon or two for both eyes and put in it the freezer for no more than 5 minutes and press it against your circles until the coolest wears out. It worked for me I got it from a beauty magazine. I work and have kids so I'm up for quite a long time.![]()

Collagen/Alloderm is a biological "filler material". A plastic surgeon can directly inject it under the outer layer of skin which covers the "sunken" areas of your eye circles, and the collagen will fill them out - this actually REMOVES the eye circles rather than concealing them. Collagen can be gradually "digested" by your body, such that it doesn't last forever ... typically 6 months to 2 years depending on your metabolism. It's relatively cheap too - a few hundred bucks is typical. It also works to fill out thin lips!

Genetics plays a big part in undereye circles. I unfortunately inherited them from my mom. Lack of sleep, lack of proper nutrition, and allergies or sinus problems will make them worse, as was said before.
For a quick fix, it's a question of experimenting with different concealers. If your circles are bluish purple like mine, a concealer with an orange cast works best, applied with a taklon concealer brush. Pay special attention to the inside corner of eye where it meets the nose.
Thick concealers provide the best coverage but can settle into the fine lines we have underneath the eye. Make sure the undereye area is mosturized before you apply concealer.
Thanks for all the info on the collagen injections, Melonie...I'm seriously going to consider getting it done...
Do you know if the injections typically leave any sort of bruising afterwards?

I had very slight bruising for a few days after my last set of eye circle injections. I took one week off from performing, and was good to go the next week, although I could have used concealer successfully the day after the injections.
Vitamin K is used to diminish the appearance of bruises and you can also use that under your eyes...
Keep color, consistency & technique in mind...(color - no more than 2 shades lighter...yellow based to off-set the blue undertones of the circles. consistency - creamy, not too thick that will pull at that delicate area. technique - your ring finger gives the lightest touch, and when applied correctly, you shouldn't have as much of a creasing problem) I deal with this all the time, when doing makeup for 9-14 hour photoshoots, and these three elements make a huge difference. Top it all off with a light dusting of translucent loose powder to set.
good luck!

NYCjacqueline is so right. I battle under eye circles alot. And i just bought St. Ives vitamin K for my eyes. I have been using it for 3 months now, and wow what a difference, this is for dark circles under my eyes, in combination with a highlighter under my eyes, since light reflects, and dark colours draw in. Alot cheaper than surgery. However it does not work well for my GF, so she is thinking about surgery. She has to go for an allergy test first, just to make sure you don't have an allergic reaction to the collagen. Alloderm is human tissue, so the allergic factor does not apply. Both are mainly used to fill in the lips, i.e the Pamela Anderson look. However... If your eyes are puffy the plastic surgeon can give you a local, meaning you are in a twilight sleep, and a small incision is made on the outer rim of your bottom lid and any unwanted fat is then taken out through the tiny incision. Or you can be put under. Cost a lot more money however to be under. These procedures can be quite expensive. Since adding fat to fill your eyes in, will have to be done again sooner or later. And to have blepharoplasty, eye fat taken out, can last up to 10 years or more if done by an excellent surgeon. You can probably walk into any plastic surgeons office and get free brochures all about the surgeries. Go get some read them, then go for a consultation if you want eye surgery. Lotsa luck on any path you take. Pamela![]()

I too get the grief of genetics and under eye circles, I have deep set eyes and a large eye orbit....one time I went to a plastic surgeon for a particular concern I had, and he didnt even want to hear it!
He said before he would do anything he would be clearing up the under eye circles, & bagging. I was only 22!!! While I sat there mouth agape, I mean I KNEW I had circles but...! HAHHA!
SO I listened during his consultation and then I spent time on my own researching it and 2 other consultations with other doctors who ALL agreed this was a viable route for me - long lasting and I did it.
What it was - very similar to a lower blepheroplasty EXCEPT it has another name which escapes me...any way the pull the lower lid open and make the smallest of incisions (yes, asleep!) and apparently PLUCK out these little fatty deposits that free float in this space! Some people have bigger fatty thingamajiggies than others, and depending on yes again genetics and lifestyle, (late hours, salt intake caffeine we know them all) ANYWAY - plucks them out does NOT stitch your inside eye - it heals in like a day!
And the results were IMMEDIATE, it was one of the best things I ever did for myself and reccomend it highly.
Just thought I would toss this info into the pile!![]()

Never explain yourself to anyone, because the person who likes you doesn't need it and the person that dislikes you won't believe it.
I'd say tried, tested and true...Preparation H is always been a godsend...LOL![]()

Aside from genetics playing a huge role in undereye circles. Yea, I've read that you can use Preparation H. Models use it during photo shoots to keep their eyes open and bright. But, make sure you use this in moderation. Also try chamomile tea bags or anything cold. But make sure you dont' leave something to cold on for to long. If you do that, then ur capillaries will break, thus resulting in a bluish sorta bruising. Which i know you dont' desire. Hope that helps

Excuse the forum necromancy, please. When these posters are talking about this undereye surgery, are they talking about bags or dark circles? I have dark circles, but no bags or puffiness.
It seems like the two kinds of eye problems were getting mixed up in this thread. Can someone help me sort out what surgical options might be available for dark circles?
ST IVES cucumber eye stress gel.... it works, use it daily before you apply makeup. Blot it lightly right under eyes, let it dry and apply makeup. You will probably notice it helps after the 1st use, but it gets better every day you use it.

I am going to buy the St Ives Vitamin K for undereye circles and the cucumber eye stress gel and yellow conceller... Thanks ladies..
I don't chase money. Money chases me.
I love Benefit Eye Bright and Boi-ing. I work long hours in crappy dry hospital air with my contacts drying out. These two products make me look like I just finished my vacation.
