    Default Another question... personal

OK, I feel stupid in asking this, but it's something I'm curious about since I'm still so new to this. I was wondering if any of you have heard of "labiaplasties" and if it is something most strippers have done... I know a lot of porn stars have it done to look "perfect" and completely symmetrical down there, but I'm not sure how picky strip clubs get?? Sorry if this has offended anyone. I'm trying to learn as much as I can before jumping into it. :-/

Variety is the spice of life.

While I've worked with many girls with boob jobs, I've never known anyone (who admitted to it, at least) who's had anything fixed 'down there'. In fact, I've been *complimented* more than once on my labia - which, beleive me, are nothing I've seen in porno mags. And if it hadn't been in a strip club, it would've been really weird.

Porn involves a lot of close-ups of genitals. I can understand fixing percieved flaws if the body part in question is unattractive to its owner - if people were going to examine any part of me for more than five minutes up-close, I'd want it to look as good as it could. But dancing isn't usually like that - it's moving a lot more. nobody's gonna be staring at yer labia for that long, and if they are, they're gonna love it no matter what.

    Hey.

Actually having your labia fixed does not make them look perfect. The more common proceedure is to just cut them, and then they look weird - like your labia have been cut. There is an alternative which is to cut the labia and then stitch the bottom of it back on. The end result is perfectly symmetrical labia, but they don't look really nice most of the time. Anyway very few women have had cosmetic surgery done on their labia, and most women are uneven down there. So don't worry about it.

labia are like the way testicles hang in the scrotum- asymmetry is by far the norm. labiaplasty is risky, though not as much as other genital surgeries, because the modern medical community knows remarkably little about the nerves in the genital area involved in sexual response- especially in women. this is why so many women who have had hysterectomies report vast or complete loss of sexual functioning. though the trimming of the labia, as it were, is not likely to involve deep tissue work, one method is to sever the labia from the base of the vulva, trim out the "excess" material, and reattach the labia to the vulva. this could result in nerve damage and loss of sensation- especially since the clitoris is not confined to the small part that is visible under the prepuce, but is actually a fairly large organ that extends under the labia in a sort of wishbone shape. the "legs" of the clitoris could potentially be damaged by this method of surgery, as well as nerves connecting to them. if you, like most women, experience primarily clitoral orgasms, you could actually lose your orgasmic capacity- contrary to popular belief, people cannot "learn" to experience orgasms in ways that their body was not designed to. if you have the potential for penetrative orgasms, you could use this to replace clitoral orgasms, but most women seem to lack this ability entirely. also, with nerve damage, there is always the possibility of experiencing chronic pain. for this reason, i am extremely opposed to unneccessary genital surgery, especially "cosmetic" procedures. these procedures are far too risky to justify any possible benefit, save for the obvious cases of cancer, prolapse, or to correct incontinence. women's vulvas are all different- this is the way of the world. it is only public ignorance that pereptuates the notion that women should look quite similar in the genital region, or the even more absurd notion that most women should be symmetrical. indeed, the only societies in which more than a tiny minority of women have symmetrical appearing vulvas are those in which female circumcision, or FGM is routinely practiced.

if anyone is curious, i'm a pre-med student, and an erotic model and aspiring stripper.
