Gosh TiNi i know how you feel. I have learned to be light while on the floor. Kinda like walking light footed. I would come home and shower, rub Alpha Hydroxy lotion all over my knees. They got it bad. But certain tricks actually keep you off your knees. like when coming down the pole to floor, kinda float. And the albows..on stage i am usually on my back doing legs!
Another good way to lessen floor bruising is to rotate certain stage shows every few days. Never work on your knees 3 days in a row..yep they will bruise. Try to be lighter, almost like the tips of your shoes do the work more when you are down. And elbows are easy to keep off the floor, use your forearm and palms alot more. I know it can be tough at first. But it works. TiNi, the bruising will go away itself, if you don't keep using the area over. Meantime use cover stick in you skin tone colour to hide the bruising.

Vitamin K. For years I thought the brusies were because of the stage, pole, or just because. My whole life I've bruised very easily. For me it was a vitamin K deficiency and I just found out a few months ago. It can't hurt to take supplements for a few days just to see. My bruises started clearing up immediately and now my body is much more resilient

I also get mad crazy bruises on my knees from all the floor work I do!

I use somthing called Arnica gel (this is the topical application method, you can also take it in pill form by mouth). It is a homeopathic medicine that works by reducing the pain and swelling of muscle aches and bruises, and makes them go away more quickly.

You can buy the gel at your local natural pharmacy or organic/natural foods store. You use the gel as soon as you feel the pain or see the bruises. It really works great! For added effectiveness, you could also use the tablets as well.

Icing the area down with ice packs (or bags of frozen veggies!) also helps reduce swelling and discoloration of bruises if used right away.

    hope this helps!

I use Arnica gel too and it will really help! Also make sure that you take vitamins, especially vitamin B and C which help for bruising. The best way to absorb these vitamins is by eating fruits, like banana's which are good for your muscles too

Arnica can be found at any health food store.

I forgot to mention that I had been taking an assortment of pills for a few years before finding vitamin K. Every day I would take 4-8 arnica tablets, 1000mg bioflavinoids with rutin, 2000mg vitamin C with bioflavinoids, 200mg vitamin E, 500mg Omega-3, and 500mg calcium/250mg phosphorus/500mg magnesium, 99mg potassium ALL to prevent bruising. I would still bruise and would treat the bruises with arnica gel. ???

About 2 months ago someone at the health food store suggested vitamin K. At the time my legs were so severely bruised they were actually scarring. I was willing to try anything new. My scars haven't went away yet but it did get rid of all the bruises in less than a week! Just one 100mcg vitamin K pill a day!

For me this is a wonder drug. Why didn't anyone suggest this years ago? Maybe so that I would buy all those other pills. I know I already mentioned vitamin K in my previous post but I forgot to give a breakdown of everything else I had tried first. When they first suggested it, I didn't believe it would work. Wow! WOW!! W-O-W!!!!! The results have been amazing and almost immediate. No more thigh high stockings unless I'm in the mood to wear them. What a refreshing freedom.

Holly, try a glucosamine and chondrotin supplement. I have posted about this before and what a lifesaver it was for me. My knees got so bad that I could not squat down in the grocery store with out being near tears. After taking this supplement for about a month, I no longer have any trouble. That was over 3 years ago.

Hi TiNi, all these remedies are great, and i am sure they help. I am heavy on my legs and elbows at times too from stage work. I still bruise. Just remember, if you hit heavy at times you may very well still bruise. That is normal. These vitamins and minerals will help alot as the ladies said it helps them! While taking them also try different moves...get off the knees as much as you can, just to help along with keeping the bruises at bay! Pamela

Holly, you can get it any health store or GNC. I got mine at Walmart tho, cause it was cheaper there and I compaired ingredients and found one very similar. Good Luck! If you want I can post the ingredients from my bottle so you can look for something like that.

Certain vitamins will change the colour of your urine. Ask at the pharmacy, to be safe. Pamela

i was 165 when i first began dancing. so it was really hard not to bruise. however i went to school for holistic medicine and found just what the other girls did it is much worse when you are mineral defeciant. the truth is with the quality (or rather the lack there of) of foods these days warrents that you supplement your diet. everyone has to find what is right for them but i find taking in superfoods is much more efficient then taking vit c here and vit k there. in super foods you get such a balance of nutrients that you also see other noticable changes(like no more headaches increased energy etc)and remember scientifically speaking any supplement is esier to digest with proper enzyme activity. i know this is alot to swallow so if you want to get the facts try celltech.com this is my favorite source of whole foods. good luck and be well

i forgot to add that the reson for green or dense yellow pee is your bodys inabbility to digest highly proscessed matter hence it runs right through you as waste. i have tried in my lifetime so many different sups and even health food stores. health food stores carry many enzmes and probiotics(for digestion) but celltech.com has what i like to call the cadillacs of the lot and if you dont like to eat a bunch of weird tasting green things u r in luck because almost every product is in pill form(ps yes i do have my own bussiness through them but dont worry that is their main site i gave you i really enjoy helping people learn what makes their bodies tick so read on.

I agree with the girls recommending health supplements, and I have to add that keeping alcohol intake to a minimum helps too. When you drink, it thins your blood and makes it easier for you to bruise.

I have had knee trouble also, and the glucosamine/chondroitin helps me as well. I also take vitamin E, C, calcium and a high-potency multi.

Be sure to read the packages when using supplements, to get the best benefits. For example, most of us should be taking at least 1000 mg of calcium (1500 is good for women), and you should take 1500 mg of the glucosamine/chondroitin for 60 days, then lower it to 500-1000 daily after that. Read, read, read!

If you do not want to take anything internally my topical favorite is dit da jow it is a herbal bruise linament that I have used in all my years of martial arts training(sholin formulas are my personal favorites) when you come home rub into your bruise with definate pressure not too hard but even if it hurts a little you have to disperse the stagnant blood(and energy) thats what a bruise is. also since linament have an alcohal base the liqid is usually pretty thin so I like to mix it with my favorite herbal analgesic in my hand for easier applicatin and a double whammy effect. remember to not just apply but to actually rub with even medium pressure. this secret was my best freind even before dancing so dont be suprized if your bruises totally dissapear overnight thats the beauty of ancient medicine!!!
