Default How much should you tip house ppl?

I'm new to dancing, and I was wondering what the appropriate amounts to tip the DJ(s), waitress(es), bouncer(s), manager (?), etc. And especially since I'm new, I'm not making a whole lot to start off with, so what kind of tipping should I be doing?

This varies widely from club to club, depending on the house rules in regard to minimum tips required, earnings potential of the club etc. It also depends on the club's pay structure in regard to DJ's waitresses and managers, who may be working strictly for tips in some clubs but who may be on the club payroll in other cases. Wild guess for an average club might be $10 to the DJ and $5 to each bouncer.

Personally, I have reservations about the "professionalism" of workers in the club being required to tip their "boss" i.e. manager. Not many clubs require this, and IMHO the ones that do are perpetrating a ripoff scheme on the dancers.

As Melonie said, much depends on rules. If there are manditory tipouts, I don't tip anything over that amount unless someone does something specific for me.

Yea, at my club, mandatory tip outs are the DJ and Owner... guess what!! We just started having a floor walker everyday and he was making a big piss about not getting tipped. He told everyone he doesn't get a paycheck, only tips... HE LIED!! He does too get a paycheck! GRRR!!!! That PISSES ME OFF! ANywaz, yea, I throw a dollar in the tip jar for the waitress everytime I get a drink and as for the bouncer(s)... anywhere from $5 -$20 depending on the day, it's usually 10 or 15.

Like Melonie said, it varies from club to club. At mine all of the other employees (bouncers, DJ, waitresses, funny money girls, etc) are salaried. Depending on what time we arrive on the floor to work, we pay a set fee.

We are still to tip the DJ 10% of what we earn. Most girls, however, never tip him more than $30/night.

My club doesn't have a ceiling on how many girls work... so, if 60 girls show up, 60 girls work. Think of his earning potential! Baseline, he earns minimum wage, which is 5.15. Then, if each girl tips him $15, he's making a killing!

    DJ shift=9 hours
    9hours x 5.15 = $46.35 (before taxes)

    60 girls x $15 = $900

That is a good night! I think I should switch my profession, lol!

My boyfriend was working as the front door bouncer at a local club as a side job. They paid him about $8 an hour, he had to wear a suit, and stand for 6 hours. He walked all of the girls to their cars but rarely got tipped.

Eventually, it was not worth it for him and he quit. So don't forget, give that guy a fiver! If he helps you get out of a troublesome situation..give him more!!!

Yes it varies widely by location and club. Best advice is to tip those who help you directly. Give at least $10 to the DJ always! Depending on your earnings, you could give the DJ $10-$20. If you make $150+, tip the DJ $15; $200+, tip him $20. After that, you can always ask a few people at the club. Since you are already tipping him, it wouldn't hurt to ask the DJ how the girls tip other staffmembers. Other girls and staffmembers who may be wanting your tip could be tempted to mislead you - don't ask them. Also ask the manager when you get hired.

When in doubt, my normal rule of thumb is:

$5 to the guy who walks me to my car
$1 to the waitress/bartender if I get my own drink
10% (roughly) of whatever I make from a staffmember's help - ie, waitress/bouncer/floorman who points me to a $$ customer and/or helps me sell. I give a little more to those who help me sell something rather than just point me to a guy with money.
Don't necessarily have to tip everybouncer every night, but tip each one who does something specific for you. Of course, if there are only a couple bouncers on shift, it wouldn't hurt one bit to throw a $5 in each of their pockets every night.

When you're with a customer, it's a good idea to make sure he tips the waitress when he orders drinks and/or signs the tab. You don't have to be obnoxious about it, just give him a sweet reminder "don't forget to tip the waitress" - if you see he's not already doing so.

Once the staffmembers see you are a tipper, they will become very friendly and helpful to you. Your pocketbook will apreciate it!

We have to tip DJ/Owner 10 % of what we earn. Plus house mom 5 $ plus 5 bouncers 4 $ each, plus pay for dances, plus pay for 2 for 1 and late house fee. If I make 900 I go home with 600. RIP OFF. !But i make money at that place so whatever!

Heh, sometimes I make less than 50% of what I actually sell in the club, but when I'm walking out with $1k+, knowing I could be working elsewhere and getting more 'commission' but walking out with less net, I don't really mind! Ex: I sell a VIP with a bottle of Dom, the bottle is $275 and $150 for me, club charges 10% on the $150 funny money for cc, plus takes 10% from me when I cash it, so I end up with $135 out of a total $440 the guy paid for half an hour. Guy buys a bottle of Cristal, it's $600 for the bottle and $300 for me, counting the cc transaction fees, the guy pays $930 and I end up with $270 of that. Club pays $100 or less for a bottle of Cristal, and gives the VIP waitress a $50 commission, so they wind up taking $510 after all that, of something I sold. Kinda sounds like a ripoff, but when I figure they have to pay for the building and staff, and utilities and other expenses, and provide me with the environment where I can make $270 for half an hour of dancing and talking, it's worth it to me!

How much does everyone tip the housemom? My club just put out a notice that we are going to get a housemom, and that we have to tip her $10 bucks a night. With 40-90 girls working the night shift, it sounds to me like she'll making an awful lot for handing out freakin tampons. I can see tipping if I use something or if she mends an outfit for me, but I always bring all my own supplies so I doubt I'll ever use her services. Does this sound ridiculous to anyone else but me?

Yes, that does sound ridiculous. I think some clubs don't make you tip her if you don't use her. But, every club is different.

I know the bottle doesn't cost them anymore than $100 because if we sell a bottle and don't drink it, don't open it, and the customer lets the girl have it, we can sell it back to the club for $100. Happens more than you'd think. I also talked to the manager once, and he commented that he could get it for even less than that! Remember the clubs are not paying regular retail prices. Yes they sell it for $600. You'd be surprised how many guys pay it....

I don't normally tip a housemom much unless she does something for me. We don't have one where I am now. They're different in all clubs. In some clubs the housemom brings food for the girls, clean up the dressing room, wash towels from showers/sauna, aside from keeping all the necessities we might need and helping with makeup, hair, clothes, mending rips, etc etc. In the case where she cleans up the dressing room, I always gave her $5 because she's cleaning up (I don't leave a mess, but if I did I'd give her more than $5) after our mess, rather than being a regular cleaner paid by the club. I would tip extra for eating her food or using her stuff, or if she helped me with something. Soemtimes I would tip her just because I had a good night and was feeling generous. Just see what she does and go accordingly. She may be hearing from the club management that all the girls are going to tip her $10 per night, but we all know that just isn't realistic.

what some people fail to realize is that house moms buy items like refills of wipes, (it's a fact, men do happen to cum on the girls, it just happens) tampons, menstrual pills, ibuprophen, pins, curling irons, clothing irons, hair clips and ribbons, hairspray refills, deoderant spray refills..etc, the list goes on, not to mention the fact that the house mom often brings in food and caters to your needs. she services you and watches over your things, holds money for you, nurses you when you get too drunk and can't handle yourself. It happens. house mom's also look out for the girls, like if an off duty bouncer comes into the bar, mom's make sure the girls are not bieng taken advantage of. also the use of mom's phone when available. it may seem a lot for you to tip out, but in return you will learn to appreciate mom.

p.s. house mom relies on tips. She is there for you in case you need and that is her time. also, mom has to pay for these things out of her own pocket....tips from you included. cleaning up after you dancers may seem easy from your point of view but look at moms job, she supplies your needs. alcahol when these men have accidents and it's a known fact, these things happen. plus, mom should get your food for you, because you don't want girls who are a little more tricky with men (you know what I mean) touching your goods without cleaning after wiping crothes or hands from jerking off men, some girls do it. Mom's also don't judge you for your job, they support you and encourage you. MOm's help you make money.

At my club $10 is taken out of our housefee when we walk in the door for the DJ, who splits that with the floorwalkers...since there is atleast 300 girls a night. I dont feel the need to tip more. I will tip a manager or whomever if they hook me up but only in that situation. The managers all make a percentage of the tables they sell so they make way more than the girls do since they also get a salary. Always Always Always encourage the customer to take care of the waitress. The waitress can hook you up with high rollers and knows what girls encourage the customers to tip. Give the housemom a couple of bucks unless you use something of hers, then tip more accordingly. The guys who walk you to your car give $5 or more if they do something extra for you i.e. have your car up front give you a good parking space, etc.

oh yeah, and though you think there are 90 girls , there are usually two mom's one during day time, and one during night time, so it isn't as though all 90 are paying one mom.

IF you use her stuff, well, if you walk into the dressing room, you are using her stuff. that is mom's room. the mirror is moms, the changing room is mom's. that is what mom gets paid for too. the business works like this...you give and you get. tipping is a huge part of making your money. try getting ready in your car...then you will see how useful mom is. I can't stress enough that mom puts up with a lot of crap too. That dressing room belongs to mom, and she does not have to allow you to use it if you aren't tipping, but mom is usually patient and in the long run a very valuable person.
