    Default A Question or two....

The financial year for Australia (where I am) ended 30 June this year (2003). So I'm wanting to get my taxes done pretty soon so I can find out if I owe anything.

Now.. I got my taxes for the previous financial year done by one accountant and they have all my details on file. The only problem is.. they are slightly expensive and I don't want to pay such a high fee for getting my taxes done. I want to change to a different accountant.

My question is.. Do I need to tell the new accountant about my current account or can I easily do my taxes at the new accountant without telling them about my current one? ???

Does my current accountant need to transfer my details to the new accountant or would I be better off just staying with my current accountant (since they've my details)? ???

I'm not very familiars with the particulars of Australian taxes, but basically it boils down to an equation of your time versus your money. Whoever files your taxes is going to require a lot of basic information about yourself, your accounts, your income etc. The previous accounting firm has already assembled much of this information, where a new accounting firm would require you to give it to them from scratch. If you're not happy with your previous accounting firm, by all means don't be afraid to change horses!
