    Default Schedule C deductions

Does anyone file a Schedule C with their tax returns? Do you deduct your cell phone and internet connections and if so under what category? "Other expenses?"

Too cheap to pay an accountant,

yes and depending on the type of business on the schedule C put under 'office expense' - video/cam/internet companies would put it up under cost of goods sold, most other businesses are probably an office expense

I deduct my 2nd phone line and my cable modem under 'utilities'. I write off my computer and digital camera over a 5 year period via the "asset depreciation schedule" and also my breast implants over a 3 year period. My web hosting bills get written off under "professional services".

I'm assuming that you two know this, but for any girls who don't ... these sort of deductions are considered business expenses and are ONLY available to girls who are legally considered to be Independent Contractors. If you work in a club where you receive an employee paycheck, or even if you don't get a paycheck if you are considered a statutory employee (like every dancer working in California or any dancer that received a 1099 form with the statutory employee box checked) you CANNOT take these sort of deductions and are basically limited to 'employee business expenses' consisting of just costumes and shoes. In exchange, dancers who are considered Independent Contractors have to pay an extra 'self-employment tax' of about an extra 7 1/2% while statutory employee dancers do not.

I am classified as an independent contractor - but thanks for the heads up regardless. 'Utilities' it will be, then.
