Default Building a music library online

    Hi guys.

I am tiring of Kazaa and WinMX. I'm on a cable modem but it doesn't help when the other people are on dial-up. What makes it worse is that you finally get a song and the quality is piss poor.

I found a site yesterday that lets you download full albums and the songs are recorded at 192kps, BUT it is loaded with porn spam and it only downloaded one acutal album, all the others I tried would not work.

My question is what P2P program or website has a large library of -quality- audio files?

    Thanks for your help,

    E

Ahh, don't you miss the good ol' Napster days when the whole file sharing world was together? You could find damn near anything. (sigh)

I can't give you a specific program (I removed my WinMX back in June after the RIAA got subpeona happy), but have you ever been to zeropaid.com ?

The site gives an enormous list of P2P apps. You can sort them by OS, number of users, download speed etc., and even read and post comments.

The new thing for anyone who can read & is slightly computer literate is downloading bit torrents. I use supernova.com frequently. You can do a search on google for other bit torrent sites.

Thanks for the tip Collette, but SoulSeek seems to be like WinMX... I queue all these songs up and it takes all year to actually download them.

I am looking into this "bit torrents" stuff now. I am computer literate and it's still confusing to me ???

    Eibon,

Try this suprnova.org then go to the music tab & just click on the album that you want. Sometimes it is no longer available; just find one that is. It will ask you where you want it to download to...choose/make a folder for it & just wait for it to download. Unlike Napster, WinMX, & others that we are used to...you cannot do a search. This is how it works...people sponsor their upload on a server. Sometimes it is there, sometimes it isn't. Sometimes when you download an album it is corrupted but it doesn't matter (just delete it) because it was free anyways. I downloaded 6 eminem albums in 1 night from the same rar file. It was great. Last night, I got 12 Metalica albums. Have fun. I have found this site to be the easiest with the best selection.

Soul Seek is the shit. Everything you can think of that is NOT radio friendly is on Soul Seek.

I don't know anything about bit torrents. If it's a band, it's prob on slsk.,

lol. No, bit torrent is not a band. It is a way to share files without having to download one song at a time. It is much faster than kazaa, napster, winmx, or soulseek. However, you cannot download just one song, most are full albums & you are limited to what is available, but you can get software, movies, games, music, etc.

Thanks. I went to the site and clicked on a couple albums. At that point SHAREAZA (which I downloaded yesterday) starts up and it says "Tracker Down" in the "Status" column, so it doesn't do anything.

    ???????

I wish there was a cheap service I could subscribe to where I could download full albums. This is all a colossal pain in my ass.

OK ONE MORE question about bit torrents.

I downloaded this big dance music collection, and all the songs are connected in one big MP3 file.

How do I split these all up into individual MP3's?!

    Thanks,

    E

Thanks a mil for this bit torrent info, it is great.

The only problem is that a lot of torrents I click on either bring me error pages or Shareaza tells me "Tracker Down". When it says "Tracker Down" I've OCCASIONALLY been successful when I pause the download, then resume it, but it only works sometimes.

Are there any other quality sites you know of besides Suprnova.org?

    Thanks!
