    Default Crying Music

I rented this movie called 24 Hour Party People. It is about the life of Ian Curtis, lead singer of Joy Division. Moving Stuff!

I can't stop listening to Love Will Tear Us Apart Again. It's making me cry. He hung himself 3 weeks after it was releaded in America.

I'm such a bummer. But I love this guy!

What songs make you go a big rubbery one?

Thats easy, Fiona Apple's first album.

Listening to that whole thing might have you sobbing in a corner by the end if you are already feeling low.
    But I still love it!

Great thread sounds funny; but songs that bring me to tears are my fav. Here are some of the top of my head:

    Sade, King of Sorrow

    Sarah mcLachlan, Elsewhere

Angie Stone, Wish I didn't miss you

    Sawyer Brown, All these years

Babyface, When can I see you again

Bonnie Raitt, I can't make you love me

    Bonnie Raitt, Guilty

    Whitney Houston, All at once

    Phill Collins, Against all odds

    Fleetwood Mac, Silver Springs

Etta James, All I could do was cry

Jamie Oneil, All by my self

    Paul Davis, I go crazy

Oh and 'Hurt' by NIN; although I prefer Jonny Cash's version you can feel his pain in his voice more, IMO

The Scottish band Del Amitri have made a lot of wistful, sad songs that aren't schmaltzy.

"Might As Well Be You" and "Driving With The Breaks On" from their "Twisted" cd always gets me.

Thank you so much for this thread Juliette [cheers]

I knew New Order used to be called Joy Division; but didn't know whole story. Found some of their lyrics, am now in love with JD

    Naomi!

Ya know how cheesy salesmen say stuff like "If you liked X, then you'll looooooove Y!"

I will do the same thing now....If you liked Joy Division, you might want to check out Peter Murphy. "Cuts you up" is his most well-known single, and I think you might like it.

We should all put on white makeup now, and red lipstick. I think it's time the eighties came back, so we could all get away with looking like Robert Smith of the Cure.

Don't be embarassed. I liked Less than Jake and Skankin' Pickle too! I still use Goldfinger from time to time.

Two off the top of my head, I don't usually get misty easy but there's some stuff out there that just really hit home or that I can relate to to some degree.

Eminem ; Ceaning Out My Closet

Puff Daddy ; I'll Be Missing You

I remember hearing Ani diFranco performing Fire Door live and it hit so close to home!

    Oh! how I miss
substituting the conclusion of confrontation with a kiss.
    And OH! how is miss
looking over the edge and jumping in
how I could feel the future in your hands.....

And then she sang Amazing Grace. Ani diFranco is the shit if you wanna ponder old meaningful relationships and cry cry cry.

That's a great film about the Manchester Music scene

As for what gets my eyes full ? Not sure if I've cried over a song but there is a few that put a lump in my throat. One is "Flower of Scotland" (Scottish Nat Anthem) another is Crag David ft Sting "Rise and Fall" it was played directly after one of the worse days of my life, great song but still gets me thinking about that day and how devastated I felt.

    Great Thread, Juliette!

For me: Pink Floyd's "Wish You were here" (I was once obsessed with Syd Barrett...) -and-
Nick Cave's "The Ship Song". I never was so shmaltzy 'til I fell in love.

    I'm a dope... what can I say

not really stripping music but I love this song.
"Stay, stay, stay" by Coal, off of the Chasing Amy soundtrack. I think you can feel the blood run from her heart when she says "you can use my body to do what you have to, but stay a little longer, stay with me."

Tommorow Wendy by Concrete Blonde. Ben's Song by Sarah Mclachlan. Wild horses - stones cover by The Sundays. Girls voices are always beautifully sad.

There are not really songs that make me cry but there are certan songs that make me depressed. Not like a intolarable depressed but a good, reflective depressed. I know I'm werid

    "Facination Street," by the Cure.
    "Topaz," by B-52's
"Hungry," by Temple of the Dog
"I stay away," by Alice in Chains
Anything on the Sid and Nance soundtrack

"Oh Yeah (On the Radio)" Roxy Music. "There's a band playing on the radio/ and it's drowning the sound of my tears"
"Dance Away" Roxy Music "Loneliness is a crowded room/ full of open hearts turned to stone/ all together all alone...Out of reach/ is out of touch/ all the way/ is far enough..."
"Nobody's Hero" by Rush "When I heard that you were gone/ I felt a shadow cross my heart"
The whole album "Ugly" by Life of Agony will make you sweat tears out of your eyes. Involuntarily.

Sour Times by Portishead does it for me, Tomorrow Wendy by Concrete Blond too...

Saw Fiona listed, Never is a Promise is a good tear jerker....

Also Bother from Stone Sour, Crawling by Linkin Park (The version by Aaron Lewis of Staind on the Reanimation disk), Mouthful of Cavities by Blind Melon...

And I know this one is a litle unorthodox but The Hurricane by Bob Dylan gets me weepy too....

That's a great movie. I have a factory tattoo on my arm. Did you know they're making a movie about Ian Curtis with jude Law? You should read Touching from a Distance. It's about Ian Curtis and Joy Division by Deborah Curtis if you are as huge a fan as I am. That was a truly tragic death. Another is Jeff Buckly - anything by him especially Grace and Last Goodbye.

With Arms Wide Open by Creed :'( Its nice when one can relate, and sad when you cant, or could have. :'(

Baby Mine by Allison Kraus :'(

The Reason by Hoobstank (reminds me of something)

The Living Years by Mike and the Mechanics (they played this song at my friend's father's funeral) :'( :'(

Through the Years by Kenny Rogers (this song reminds me of my grandparents Retirement Party. It was there song. He died of cancer a year later) :'( :'(

Theres more, but Im getting sad right now...

That's the song from Dumbo! AWWWWWWW!!!!!

Dumbo has always reminded me of my little brother who when he was just a wee little tot I started to pinch, squeeze, and tug on his little earlobes (I got a lobe fetish, k?) so he's always had these ginormous earlobes.

To this day when I see him I still tug and nibble on the chewy goodness of his earlobes......

I miss my widdle Boo-Boo boy..........

    Can someone pass the kleenex?
