Default Would "dance appointments" make sense?

...or would the added stress of running an appointment schedule be more trouble than its worth.

Have any of you gals ever considered using an appointment system to set up times for dances. Not VIP room sessions but just plain old dances! I don’t just mean using this for your high dollar regulars who can afford VIP or to buy out your shift, but even for your more casual regulars who might see you once a month and only drop about $60-100 a visit on you. Ever thought of starting an e-mail list where they could contact you to set up an exclusive block of time that would be theirs (even one as short as 20 minutes). Such a thing sounds kind of tacky, but if you hate to hustle, think about all the trouble an appointment schedule might save you.

Ever had those nights where you had multiple regulars in attendance? Where the first guy there was preoccupying a lot of your time and you were worried that by giving all that time to him that you might be making the other guys mad. Don’t you wish that you could set up an appointment list on your slower nights to make those shifts more profitable? It might also help free up your busier shifts when hustling dances is a lot easier proposition (you could use them as an opportunity to add more guys to the list).

Perhaps in an slumping economy where you’d like to ensure every sale that you possibly can, it would be an inexpensible business tool, although for some gals who might not be so organized, such an idea might only serve to drive them batty.

I have some suggestions on how something might work because I think that for the right kind of dancer I think that it would be a great idea. I kind of wanted the ladies input first on the advantages or drawbacks of setting up appointments and your experience with such a system if you’ve ever tried it.

now that would be great at times! i sometimes like sitting and talking with the customers, really getting to know them. sometimes this works in my favor, and they don't feel pressured. but last sunday i had four regulars at once, and was trying to figure out what to do. dance for them in order of arrival? or by who will likely spend the most money? appointments would have been great. i told them, "You're second, and you, you're third, and you are number four." last minute appointments i guess. your system sounds efficient....interesting...

yeah, but how many times did a regular promise you he'd come in on a certain night and mysteriously not show up? It sucks!

But it also sucks to juggle regulars because you feel like you're not giving them the attention they deserve.

Dr_catfish that is how i work now, only. I am out of the clubs. I did have a toll free when i worked the club, and guys would call to see if i was working that night. I would go in, if it was close to onmy shift.

NOw i get calls from friends of friends and others that heard of me through god knows who at times, and go dancing. I meet at their home, have a friend (guy) who does not mind, and when i don't have him i have gone with a gf.

This is all i do now for dancing. I love it. It actualy helps me work around my hospital job and phone work.

That actually happened this week with my ATF. I come in every 2 weeks without fail to see her, but this week had to miss due to lack of transportation. The first time in about 9 months.

I was going to go in the next nite, called her, found out from her that another regular was coming in around the same time on that nite and we agreed that it would be easier to skip the nite. I wasn't going to invade in on another regular's time.

The next nite was snow and she called me on the way home in the snowstorm!

I guess what I'm saying is communication is better than disappointment on either side. We had a good conversation and decided that it would be best to come back in on the usual day this week.

I don't know if she only has enough regulars to warrant a schedule, she says she only has a couple. But for dancers who have a lot it might be useful and better than the way some girls handle it, trying to do both guys and not tell one about the other.

I do this all the time. I will email my regs and see if they want to come in one night and then I get 3 or 4 of em and literally schedule out hour or two hour blocks. I'll tell one to come in at 7, knowing he will be out of the club by 8/8:15 and I'll tell the second one to come in at 8:30 and so on. It has always worked well for me!

At my club we usually don't get many out of towners, and I usually have time to fit in a few dances with other people while I am waiting for my regulars. If a regular cancels I either go home and have an early night(yay) or stick around and make some money out on the floor. For a few months I wasn't working at my club normally, I would just come in for a few regulars and make some quick cash and go home. But I was getting sick of seeing the same guys all the time so I am back to working regular shifts.

It works if you make sure to schedule them far enough apart. Give an extra hour between because sure enough one of them will be early, late, or want to stay with you longer than usual.

That's pretty much how I did things too after a few years of learning the ropes and I kept a blog so my customers could see what time slots I had available.

I have an email address that i give out to guys, we keep in contact that way. set up times to come in and visit and so on. i'm gonna have my own site set up in the next few months and a business card, so then customers can see pics of me, buy pics, calenders, etc, email me and know when i'm working and so on. i'm cautious about giving out my # though. a select few have that.
Communication is a big key too. Its irritaing when a regular says they're coming in for you and then not show. that happens to anyone here and there.
as much as i enjoy the big money regulars, i enjoy the regulars that spend the $40-100 also. cause they may not have the greast job in the world with tons of $$$, yet if nice guys its refreshing and worth. nost of the time those small $$$ guys bring friends too, so ya end up makin the cash still and meeting NEW regulars......

I've been to a number of clubs where you have to buy dance tickets in advance, then the girl takes each customer in turn. Personally I don't like it because you never know how long you have to wait. But at least every guy gets his turn.
