Default Would you take a check in VIP?

I know the club usually won't take a check.
When you're traveling banks won't take personal checks drawn on other banks. (They used to
if you could guarantee them with AMEX).

I don't like cash advances on credit cards at banks.
I certaInly don't like cash advances from the clubs
or ATM's on credit cards. (20%-30% 'factoring fee however called.)

My ATF and later friend had to take a 10% haircut on club funny money on top of my 20% factoring fee charged to me by the club.

Carrying $3000 in cash for 4 to 6 VIP's over
4 days isn't practical by airline these days.
Too many questions from the guys with gold badges.

Finally she gave up and started taking my check.
One Sunday the banks were closed and I needed money
so I went ot her place and cashed a check for cash.
Was a good excuse to see her anyway.

She was the only "bank" in Southtown that would take
my check without a factoring fee. Beyond that it
was the only bank that would take my check period.

As dancers do you increasingly find yourself acting as a
bank financing VIP sessions and dances given the
high fees the clubs charge you and your customers?

Saving 20 to 30% fees over a year begins to add up.

Would you take a check in VIP?

Hell no! It's too big of a risk, I'd rather move over to the next guy with cash in his pocket.

Debt card's are the next best thing, even with the average cap's you should be able to pull enough to have good time.

Never pay for anything in a club with checks or cards. Cash only.

Learned that lesson when I went to Columbus Gold in Ohio. Paid for a few VIP dances with my credit card and when I got home found out that $150 had been charged to it for spending half an hour in the VIP room.

If they have your card number, they will run you a tab automatically and hope you will be so embarrassed by the situation you won't contest the charges.

If they have your check, they have your home address and may decide to send you a Polaroid of you with a ping pong ball in your mouth rubbing it on a dancers unregulated paddle for shits and giggles or in some sort of exhortion scheme.

Nope. Unless it was a well known regular which is impossible for me in Vegas.

This particular club was charing the dancer 10% (She gets 90% of a cash deal)
and the customer has to pay 120% of the par value (100% value) of the VIP girl charge.
The effective rate of discount and interest converted to interest is about 31%.
By taking a check the dancer can take home 100% of her hourly vip room fee
(less tip out participation if any) and the customers says a 20% markup.
No wonder the funny money girl at the credit card office always snarled at me.
    I was saving 20%.
Of course the dancer has to trust the customer to accept the risk of a bad check.
Debt cards (debit cards?) run trhough the club ATM also at exorbitant rates
of "factoring" to get the cash. Alot of guys would run to the local bank drive up or
the local Walmart to use thier ATM.

I would take a check from a really good regular, infact if I was making a couple hundred more doing it that way,I would tell my regular just to bring checks from now on,it would be our little secret,so the club wouldnt get all that money, they already get enough, also I assume when you wrote she had to take a 10% haircut, you meant cut,too funy.

I have two regulars that I would take a check from. They've never offered though I'd take a check from them over the club's funny money.

I don't like checks, debit cards, credit cards, or anything else that forces me to admit having made a certain amount of money. I like a cash business. I'm sure that if I had a good paying regular, I would consider accepting a check. It couldn't be for a significant amount though. I refuse to risk getting ripped off on a $500 vip experience.

Since the house ("club") won't take a check and wants the customer to buy funny money,
(as an additional profit center from banking and factoring) the VIP room rental (however phrased or called) will either be cash or credit card.
That leaves your fee as an independent business owner. (Independent contractor.)
I'll bet your club is silent on this issue and has no rules. Must be a reason for that as clubs have rules for everything else. Think about it and dont' just dismiss it.

If the guy wants three or four hours (which may be too long to spend with a guy),
you may have to help finance the deal to make big money. I'm not saying this
happens every night but maybe once a month. Also part of your fee will have to be in
cash or you can't do the tip outs or any percentage cut ins that you owe the house.

Still this is a way to get the big money if the guy is good for it and you trust him.
It's called manufacturer or supplier provided financing and
puts you in the credit businesses like alot of small businesses. And it is not an
easy decision for you to make. But if you are running your dance business like a business
you will run into this decision sooner or later.

Your other problem is if you start showing up at the bank with alot of cash and personal checks these days. My ATF was doing alot of money orders from Walmart
to send money back to her family... but still got looks and questions from the bank.

i have two words: MONEY ORDER! only a person who's had their head amputated would take a check!!!!--this is why companies invest in those little things that check-checks!!!! what a ludicrous question!!! think of US as a business in and of ourselves, there is a reason the club would not take a check, the same reason i would NEVER, not ever, not even from my best customer...in this business one should be smarter than risk loss of personal revenue! NEVER take a check lady's, they can stop payment....ect....NEVER. please.

I take checks from ONE person... he's also the owners accountant though. I would never be so naive... I don't think I would take money orders either, the thought of a peice of paper instead of cash kinda stresses me out and I would continue to be stressed until it cashed at the bank.

money orders require cash, it then becomes a 'note' of sorts, with a number to trace it and everthing...so do be careful with them too. i personally would never take a check.
