Default For Dancers: On Disliking Customers

I recently read on another forum where a dancer told a customer that ALL dancers pretty much dislike ALL customers. The dancer claimed this wasn't just her opinion. She said this view is backed up by all the dressing room chatter about customers she ever hears. Thought I'd create a poll on the subject.

21-40% for me. Thats not high considering i danced many years. Plus i knew alot of my regulars from another job. I told them i danced and most came. The ones i had a hard time with were the younger crowd. Wanting more for the money, and just too damn rowdy for my taste. But i liked many many customers.

I said 0-20%. I usually get along with my customers. The ones I don't get along with, well we don't dance together. I do sometimes dance for guys I don't like but usually I either like them or just don't care about them. It takes a lot for me to really not like someone.

Hmm tough call this one - LIKE? I think about it in work terms and they are part of the work element. LIKE doesnt really come into play.

Nor does DISLIKE for that matter -

Its similar to a regular work situation - it really doesnt pull into a like/dislike situation - its just a work situation.

I wonder - its kinda weird to lay a call such as LIKE on that.

Sort of ambivalent on this one.

Never explain yourself to anyone, because the person who likes you doesn't need it and the person that dislikes you won't believe it.

I just wanted to say, thanks for including the "view the results without voting" option. I always want to see the results but don't want to mess up the dancers poll by voting and I appreciate the thoughfulness of that.

I work with the public and I would say that I get along with or like 95% of my customers. The Aholes are a very small % but they sometimes tend to overshadow the good ones, know what I mean?

ALways remember this though. I was having a bad day and a wise person once told me, "If everyone you meet all day long is an asshole, you have to start to wonder who the asshole really is".
Anyone with a memory should be very humble.

One of the best perks, that comes along with being a dancer, is that we do not have to live up to the customer is always right creed. If I dislike a customer for whatever reason (happens from time to time) I simply don't sit with or dance for him.

Pretending to like someone I dislike has always been a problem for me. I'm simply not strong willed enough to fake it so it's a good thing that I don't have to.

I put 21-40%. It's not really that I dislike that many customers, it's that about that many are annoying. For example, all the young guys who buy one dance and then get pouty because I don't want to go meet them at the hot-tub after work. Or the percentage of guys who want to just talk and talk. So up to 40% in a night can be annoying in some way. Only about 5% are truly creepy.

I can get along to some degree with almost anyone, but I had to say about 21-40% of customers I don't like or don't enjoy being around. I hate to say I don't 'like' them, but I certainly don't enjoy their company or attitude or whatever. I always try to find something positive, but sometimes the poor behviour/attitude overrides anything positive I might spot.
