    Default Just started waitressing..

I work at a pretty nice club in houston, the Colorado...I have never worked in this type of environment before, so its all pretty new to me. I've wanted to dance before, but I've always chickened out, so I thought the first step to me overcoming my fears and insecurities was to at least wait tables at a strip club and see how everything works at least so I'm not totally clueless as to what dancers do, and how things work. On my first night I filled out paperwork and watched a video and got a brief overview of how things worked and toured the club. It was a little confusing at first, like how to open credit card tabs, etc. It didn't take me long to learn it all i guess, and i followed one girl around for about 20 minutes until I felt comfortable. I know people who make really good money waitressing, but i know they have their own secrets and ways of doing things that make them successful. I know i have the looks, and I can take orders easily, and stuff like that...but I really do not know how to hustle people...I'm kinda clueless...it's hard for me because I'm a really sweet, generous person, and I don't like feeling like I'm taking advantage of someone...but I know there's certain things ya gotta do to make money. My first night, one of the dancers really connected with me,a nd she bought me some drinks (or the guy who was paying for hers did), and just hung out with me...I made $4 the first couple hours i worked, but from midnight to 2am I made $65...so i think that's pretty good...but I dunno I just need to learn how to work it i guess...things to say to make people buy things...i just got lucky the first night...and its a lot easier after a few shots of Rumple Minze Oh yeah, and I haven't sold any dances, nor do I really understand how to go about doing it...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! i really dont know how this business works!

If a guy forgets his manners and doesn't offer the dancer on his lap a drink, after you take his order say, " and for the lady.." Or something like that. I like when waitresses do this, it gives the hint that the guy is expected to open his wallet. 90% of the time the cad will now buy the dancer a drink.
And to make more sales, offer drinks instead of just asking if they need another beer. Say "How about a round of shots(Buttery nipples, kamikazees, etc)?" If there's a drink special always offer that. Be flirty, guys will tip you more and if you are their favorite they will only order from you. Oh yeah and if a guy offers you a drink always get one, but it doesn't have to be alcohol.

Oh yeah, and ALWAYS ask every customer if he'd like to start a tab. That's when you make the real money.

    Raven,
I'm getting back into DJing clubs again (been away from it for awhile) but have waited tables for a few years and my roommate waitresses at a topless club here in Austin, and I can tell you that Mariah's advice is dead-on. Those are the kind of details (tricks) you need to learn but in general remember that the guys are there to have fun, so you need to seem like you're having fun.

Talk to them, flirt, sit at the table with them when you take their order, ask about their day, tell them they picked a great night to come because there are some really hot dancers working (if they think you're turned on by the dancers alittle too it helps) Tell them that if they see a dancer they like you'll get her for them for a private dance. OR tell them if they want a private dance you know a georgeous dancer who gives THE BEST dances -- be their friend and make it ALL about them having a good time. that, along with the other little tricks, will make you a lot more monay AND repeat customers (be sure to tell the good tippers to ask for you next time)
