When you start at a club they will help you out, but you should spend a lot of time watching the other girls to figure out what style of dancing you want to do. I have never worked someplace where they told me how to dance. You just do what you feel like.![]()

Yeah, you pretty much just watch what the other girls do to get ideas. It takes a little bit of time to get the hang of it, I see a lot of girls who have never danced in a strip club before and when they first start, they dance like they are in a regular club. It is kind of cute, really. I was probably the same way when I first started.![]()

The basic requirements are a degree of attractiveness, natural rhythm, good instincts, and an ability to learn quickly. Everything else you have to figure out on your own. There ARE schools, but you'll pay big bucks right out the nose. Not necessarily worth it unless you plan to feature, and even then I question it.

You learn by doing, like baseball, piano, touch typing, neurosurgery or any other physical skill. Watch people who dance well and you'll see what's possible if you want to put forth the same effort. Watching people who don't dance at all is boring and pointless--just ask your customers.
I worked 2 clubs so far so i'm pretty new at this too.....what I found helpful is watching a few of the girls dance first until I start getting into it myself~I can't hold still when music is playing lol......I'm usually dancing even b4 I get up on the stage~But I like to see the other girls style first to get any new little tricks or whatever first~then I tell them i'm ready n go!!

The thing that helped me most when I started was taking a few good deep breaths, and keeping my eyes closed for the first few moments of a song, until I got the feel for it's rhythm. Just be careful doing that - I've accidentally beaned myself on the pole a few times using this tactic.

when i first started dancing i would practice in front of the mirror for hours pretending like i was really working to get my muscles and flexibility up to par, then i went in watched a few girls techniques, i usually picked on thing from each girl that i liked and incorperated it myself. the main thing is to move slow, especially if your not used to your heals. learning floor work was great too because its a great time waster and is pretty easy to pull off. good luck hope this helps.
I learned on my own. Pamela

When I first started dancing i had the shittiest show going.....
but then i started going in early before the bar opened a practised pole tricks and moves i'd seen girls do
and now i actually work up a sweat up there and get into it
everyones comfort level is different
some girls never like doing shows, some hate v.i.ps..i guess it's what u get out of it that works for 'you'
good luck sweetie![]()
blessed be
When I first started I just walked around a lot and tried to look sexy. I also crawled on all 4's and licked my lips, and swung around the pole a lot (with one foot still on the ground). That was the extent of it! The guys never seem to mind what you do, and soon you'll have many different moves in your repertoire.

Hi all, learning floor work was great too because its a great time waster and is pretty easy to pull off. good luck hope this helps.
Maybe I'm just crazy (and I very well could be), but I am having some trouble with floorwork. I can get down to my knees easily, but I cannot get my knees from up under me (you know, to hold them high in the air, etc...) gracefully.

When you are "working the floor" (asking for PDs) take a moment every so often to just sit and watch the other dancers on stage. Then when it is your turn.. try the moves until you find your style.
Mine will never be slow and seductive as I have too much energy however it isn't like I'm bouncing around mad on stage. I now alternate between fast and slow moves to keep it flowing.
Also remember.. LISTEN TO THE RHYTHM! It is horrible watching a dancer dance slow to an obviously fast beat... just doesn't look right.
Practice is the key.. take every moment you can to practice even if you are in front of an audience.. try out new moves.![]()

Amethyst,
Just sort of lean to the side, but don't actually lean.. just shift your weight so that your feet are out from under you.
Okay, I just did it and it goes like this... drop to your knees, with your knees slightly apart... raise up like your going to do a body wave, so that all your weight is on your knees, and just turn your calves both to one side (say the right) so that when you sit back down your left shoe is under your right thigh and your right shoe is next to your but. From there, you can lean back on your hands and take your right leg and sort of artisticly arch it across and up and to the left, and your left leg will be folded at the knee with your left foot covering your crotch.
I hope that makes sense...
Lena

Oh, and don't forget to point your toes!
I learned mostly from watching. Not that I didnt know HOW to dance we all know how in some way shape or form but to learn the DANCER'S dance is another thing altogether.
Many girls go up there (newbies) and dance in spot, like they would in a bar with a partner NO no no!
Try to incorporate as much of the stage as you can, put a good strut to it, throw in some confidence, a few back steps YAH THATS IT, okay couple hip circles yah yah yah! LOL, it just COMES to you, shoulder shifting, toss the hair , smile smile smile.
ALWAYS pick music you absolutely love to dance to - it SO helps you out up there, sometimes it comes across to me that its MY song and I am in my own VIDEO performing my own damn song....hoooo weeeeee!!! I have such a good time up there - what a buzz!
Learn to love the stage, cause the customers get the vibe off you - a positive energy exchange...and they line up for you when you come down after.
juss ma two cents!![]()

Never explain yourself to anyone, because the person who likes you doesn't need it and the person that dislikes you won't believe it.

Cool - I'm a little "jaggedy" still, but I'll keep working on it
Thanks a million,
Amethyst
i used to do ballet and modern, watch other girls, moviesand listen to the music while you are dancing, that makes your slyle!!!! SMILE AND HAVE FUN!!!!

i recently started dancing as well. i learned mostly by observing the other girls, by watching them dance. everyone has a different style but the most effective thing is to move slowly and seductively. also alot of acting ability comes into play--if you think "sexy" then you will become it. alot of the job is just an act-- when i think this way it makes it much easier to work hard and make da $$$.
I have actually seen some girls just walk around the pole when they first start until they can get the hang of things. Here is a tip though; don't dance as though you are at a club instead you should dance sexy with a bit of hip swaying. Since my knees often get beat up by the stage, I only get on the floor when they go to tip me and other than that I work my stuff around the poles.![]()

pssst, you notice how this was 5 years ago - think she's learned how to dance by now
These days I like to count my money. I like to wash it delicately and iron it. Sometimes I dry it with some bounty to make it all nice and cuddly. I love my money... did I say that out loud?
