Default Should I say I'm single???

Hi, more likely than not the question of am I single always comes up from a customer. I of course do not lead them on to think there will be any kind of relationship or meeting outside the club, but I almost feel like if I tell them I am in a relationship it will decrease the amount of money they will spend on me. My experience has been that most of my regulars are the men I have told I'm single. How does everyone else handle this subject???

Even when I have dated people while working, I have always told 99% of my customers that I was single. If they ask me why, I tell them that I categorically refuse to be involved with anybody while I am stripping on the grounds that it can cause way too many problems. Most of them quit trying to seriously pursuing anything after this.

I either told them I was single, or had a girlfriend. When I said I had a girlfriend, it always opened up a new line of conversation.

Have to be honest here, i am single. I believe it helps me out. When i had my BF, they kinda had reservations with me it seemed, and moved on to a girl who was single. I never lied however. I think a guy likes a girl single in the clubs, he is more open to her conversations. (fantasy goes wild in his head, some now. The what ifs.) BF/ husband seems like it can be a bad word in the clubs...LOL Pamela

I try to read the customer and see what he wants. There are lot of big fantasies out there that involve married sluts, and I can use this to my advantage IF I can read what the customer wants. It is usually easy enough to recognize this kind of customer by mentioning swinging or chatting about a couple in the club or something like that.

So sometimes being "married" can work to your advantage with your customer. The tough part is finding out the guy's feelings before you reveal anything.

I say I have a girlfreind. I say I like to play with men sometimes, but not to be serious with them. Sometimes I say that me and my girlfreind like to pick up men together when we go clubbing. Sometimes I say that me and my girlfreind are having problems and ask them for advice. It just depends on what the guy wants.

I tell customers that I am taking a break from guys b/c it is too hard to be involved with a guy while working as a dancer. Most of the time the customers are like, "So what does your boyfriend think of this." and I reply, "Well, I now have an EX-boyfriend who didn't like it too much..." I then jokingly say "Guys are trouble anyway" and most of the time they get the hint.

    Default From a customer's perspective

Tell the truth. Most of your better tipping customers are married or involved anyway.

Lies catch up and nothing you ever say after tends to be believed.

My wife made more money after I put an engagement ring on her finger than before.

Women involved with other men present less risk of involvement to married customers. You don't tend to bother us at work or call at inoportune times.

The best reply I've heard when asking was. Sure I have a boyfriend. But if he was taking care of me the way I deserve to be taken care of I wouldn't be here now would I?

She got a lot of my money.

Wow, what a great, interesting line. Better than the usual yes or no. I like it!

I believe it was Mark Twain who said, "If you tell the truth, you don't need a good memory."

The odds are that the guy is committed. If he's "looking" for a certain type, the odds are 50-50 that he'd prefer a single woman with no commitments, or a committed woman who would have to be as secretive as he is.

I don't think there's any odds favoring one over the other. If you tell the truth, then you don't have to think about what line to use. You just have to think about how little to tell about yourself.

    Default From a customer perspective

Reading this site has made me much more sensitive to “Strip Club Etiquette†and I thank you all for being so forthright with your comments and opinions. One of the many things I have learned is not ask about BF’s, GF’s or anything about what a lady does outside of the club. If she volunteers the information then I go with it, but I never ask.
On the blue site, otherwise known as the "stripper bashing site" to quote some of you ladies, there is thread titled "All dancers are manipulative liars" I have posted several times trying to defend dancers, but reading some of the posts on this thread makes me wonder.
Now I know that most of your customers are not as easily trained as I am and you have to deal with those stupid questions. But come on ladies, how about a line that’s non committal and truthful like “When I’m in here I don’t have a boyfriendâ€.
Telling the truth gets you in less trouble when the lies start to catch up with you.

I wear my wedding ring and and answer honestly if asked about being single. 99% of the time, it hasn't hurt me. The couple of customers that don't want dances from married women do not bother me. I think many guys appreciate the honesty factor. I'm not trying to lead them on. If they want me to get naked and dance for them, I'll do a good job. If they're looking for anything else, they're in the wrong place. I don't think badly of other girls who personify themselves as single at work. This is a job of providing fantasies. But I'm more comfortable being the married me and have found that enough guys are fascinated by that/ and or just respect that, that it is not even a dilemma for me.

Part of the fantasy that keeps him buying dance after dance is thinking that he has a chance. It's a turn off for a guy to think he just spent 100 bucks on you and you're taking it home to another man. IMO a customer would rather not hear about your bf, husband or kids.

Customers always assume I have a bf, no matter what I say, and ultimately it doesn't matter what I say because they're never going to hook up with me outside the club or really know the truth anyway. I usually tell the truth to guys I get to know a bit better, and the rest hear whatever I feel like they want to hear. It's all about the fantasy, and if most customers really wanted the truth at that time, I don't think they'd be in a strip club. Some of the guys put way too much importance on whether or not a dancer lies to them - but in reality it doesn't matter because it's all fantasy. Besides, guys lie to us constantly, trying to say anything that might increase their chances of getting us in the sack.

Ladies, one of the fringe benefits of your job is that you get to put on a different persona and play with it. It doesn't matter what you're marital status in real life is. You're job is to be a fantasy girl. That sex goddess you portray on stage is ALWAYS single and available! I say have fun with it.

That point taken, I run into a lot of dancers who tell me they're "divorced" (not being sarcastic, because some of them probably are). I suppose they think by saying that I'll consider them "single" enough to buy dances from, but "married" enough to not ask for their phone number.

Whatever brings in the dead presidents I guess.

I am, of course, in the minority of those who don't incur in said practice.

At the beginning I lied... I didn't like it. Too much trouble and I respect my customers. They have feelings too, and if they really belive that they have a chance - I am sure it hurts them more when they find out that I won't date them... And when I go home I want to sleep well not thinking about the lies I said that day.
And guys are not that stupid.. They will find out that you must have somebody. And even if they know that I have a boyfriend, I always tell them that "but I am yours now" They like it, and I have lots of regulars. If you are honest you can keep your regulars.
Experience is one thing you can't get for nothing.

I always say I am single, always. Or sometimes that I prefer women. Men go to strip clubs for the fantasy, and as an entertainer, I feel it's my job to provide that for my customers. By saying I am single, younger guys feel they have a chance at dating me, and older guys feel like they can take care of you. I just think being single would only perpetuate the sex fantasy for men.

I also say that I am single or that I have a girlfriend. Like the saying goes "appear availiable, never be availiable"
