When I start I plan on just looking it as a different "persona" an alter ego if you will. Someone totally different to myself. It's not me up there it's [insert stage name]. Kind of like acting, playing a different part.

Also I'll be thinking of the money and how much I won't be in debt after a while.

Drinking is never recommended...ESPECIALLY if your new...try walking in those heels when you cant see very straight!I got a bit too drunk on my last shift and I have never been so embarassed...it is truly an awful feeling cause in this situation YES everyone IS looking at you and you will make a fool of yourself...im lucky i learned my lesson without any major mishaps..just some lost dignity and respect of friends

Shyness for me really depends on the situation, at times I feel reserved. Some people I click with instantly and I do not come across as shy or reserved.
Sometimes my natural shyness will kick in if I am approaching a large group. But other times I feel at ease with the people I am about to interact with and everything works out, without feeling weirded out. I hate if I am not in a conversation and someone points out that I haven't said anything. Because I speak when I have something to say, I never speak because I "have" to say something!
I do seem more innocent because I do not ramble or incessantly talk about nothing. Just nonsense is all it sounds like.
For me it works perfectly just being myself and not doubting my intuition. Some customers send off strange or uncomfortable energy and I might not have much to say to them. I find that if the customer is warm and welcoming I just "know" and everything works out fine.
