    Default About that pole?

O.K. To make a long story short I have been dancing about 4 years and I'm good at what I do but the club I work at does not have a pole. So now I have decided to travel to Vegas and all the clubs have poles! What do I do?! ???

Not all of the clubs have poles. Club Paradise and Olympic Garden doesn't have poles. From what I hear, Treasures has one but its not made for spinning. I wouldn't stress to much about it. You don't really dance that much in Vegas and there is not that much imphasis on the stage. All of your money is made from lapdances. If you do work at a club with a pole you don't have to do tricks. Most of the time its not going to make you more money if you do. I just use the pole to hang on to and rarely do any pole tricks though I know how. I've thought about it and there are too many risks for injury. You can seriously hurt yourself on a poletrick gone bad and it's not worth it to me. If you really want to learn pole tricks there are people who give lessons out here.

If there's one there, go play on it. See if you can incorporate it into your routine. Just don't try anything you can't handle. If it's too tough, at least you tried.

Well at my club the stage is in center of room. It is shaped like a clover leaf with three sides and on each side there is a set of stairs with rails. There are seats around the whole stage and its a big stage. Then there is the people who walk up to the stairs. It just involves a lot of floor work! But you can make money on stage and as they say good advertisment!

Well I've seen quite a few girls who never even touch the pole. It's not necessary I dont think.

I find dancing without a pole to be ackward, but I'm used to them. I also love doing the tricks Just keep safety in mind and it can be a very useful tool.

we had a new dancer once who got really drunk on shift....she was on stage climed the pole than slid down into the splits.....well that's what was supposed to happen, what she really had was a controled fall from a 12' pole into the splits....long story short she F'd up her knee REALLY BAD, the bouncers had to carry her off stage. I was still kinda new as a DJ and had NO CLUE what to say over the mic while they were treating her

I don't think you could really say anything appropriate in a situation like that.

Mason - I rarely do any spins on the pole. A lot of dancers in Vegas try to avoid going up on stage like the plague because it's a waste of time financially. If you are working in a major club there will probably be anywhere from 200-250 dancers working. Chances are you won't get called up to stage anyways.
In Vegas the way to make money on stage is personal contact. What I do is grab a guy and stick his face in between my boobs. They love it. I also take their dollar bills and stick it in the top of their pants and pull it out with my teeth. Super basic, dumb things like that will make you more money than pole tricks. If a guy wants to see a choreographed, no contact, Vegas showgirl style routine, they would be at one of the big casino shows.
As my old boss at Crazy Girls in LA said "Sweetie this isn't a broadway production; it's a strip club. Just show up with your costume and we'll see how you do."
Most of the clubs in Vegas won't even ask you to do a stage audition. At Crazy Horse they will even ask you if you do stage or not. Vegas is all about selling lap dances - the stage is nothing.

MasonDixon The club you described sounds like one in Indianapolis. Babes I think? I wonder how many are like that. It was weird to work with. I don't favor a pole. I'm to envolved with the floor.

You don't need a pole. If you are allowed to do a "floor show" just crawl around a lot and get up every now and then, according to your music. Use the back drop of the stage, mirrored or otherwise to utilize as well. If you're really brazen, use the guys in front row as "props" and wrap your legs around someone's head. That's a crowd pleaser. I understand the pole thing - it's a security issue of my own but there are ways to improvise and after a few shows there, you'll have it licked!

While I don't work at a club, that having my own pole is great fun.

I get up on the pole when I am alone in the house and just twirl around. I can do some simple lifts, and boy does that give me a work out....

I guess as someone with a pole in her play room, and enjoy watching pole work, I say just give it a try...

    Sweetheart....

You just have to hold onto that pole and dance your sexy ass around it using it as a part of the stage rather than a centerpiece.....

    Because baby.....you are the centerpiece.

Doing pole tricks is a different lure. Prancing around the pole is enticing in itself.....

I agree with this. It's a great workout to have your own pole. And when I have been in clubs I already knew how to do a couple of things on it.
