    Default Ugh! What a night-& I didn't even work!

I took the weekend off of work because I was feeling a bit stressed-lots of cheap/teeny bopper customers, drama with the girls at work, tired of being asked out..etc...etc....

So tonight I decided I was going to have some "me" time-grab a book, some popcorn and relax.

So on the way to the store-I first get a call from the club manager wanting to know why I wasn't there (ummm... I asked for it off two weeks ago...) after getting bitched at for a bit, he finally gets that I'm not coming in.

Then I'm pulled over. No biggie, my headlight just went out and I even had the new bulbs in the car with me-no tickets, just a delay.

    Now to the scarey part.

I'm at the checkout with my book and popcorn (btw-Orville came out with a new flavor "Cinnabon"-yummy!!!) and up walks one of my customers. Thankfully I wasn't with anyone-so no one would find it odd me being addressed as "Tia". After exchanging hellos and other niceities-he continues to wait for me to cash out-and even grabs my bags. Hmmm.
So as we exit the store I thank him and go to retrieve my bags to leave- he won't let me have them, insisting that he be a gentleman and walk me to my car. The parking lot was very crowded with everyone trying to be prepared with the storm NY is supposed to be hit with, so while I'm feeling extremely uncomfortable, I wasn't feeling unsafe-yet.
We get to my car and I unlock it with the remote (which unlocks all the doors), he puts bags in the back (hatchback type thing). So again I thank him and wished him a Merry Xmas if I didn't see him in the club first. So I begin to get into my car and he jumps in the passenger side!!!! OMG... now I'm more than uncomfortable. I looked longingly at my cell phone which was on the dash between us-thanks to NYS "hands-free" cell law. I asked him to leave and he insisted I just talk to him for a couple minutes. I finally said "look, I'll talk to you at the club later, or at the police station now-I'm very uncomfortable please leave." After what seemed like an eternity and several more pleadings on his part (everything from talking to him, giving him a kiss, going someplace w/ him etc..) he finally got out of the car. I left shaking.

Looking at it now, I realize I made several mistakes in attempting to be nice. Very stupid on my part. Luckily I made it home to enjoy my popcorn.

    Be careful ladies! :o

That's so scary! I'm so sorry that it happened to you. I'm always really cautious walking to the parking lot from the club, but I never thought about being followed by a customer when I'm not at work.

    Thanks for warning us!

You have to ask to have a nite off? Are a lot of clubs like this? At my club, we don't have to have a schedule, but if they're short on girls, they'll try ot call us in.

I'm so glad to know that your safe and ok. At least you learned a little from your mistakes. Sometimes it's hard to deal with situations like that. Only later do you realize what you "should" have done. I wouldn't let this man be a customer of mine ever again. He has some very scary behaviours that I would watch out for. Continue to be a little extra alert for awhile. Again, it's good to hear that you're ok.

Tia, keep a very careful watch for the next few days. This guy now knows your car's license number and what it looks like. If he had no reservations about jumping into your car, he may not have any reservations about doing something more extreme.

If this ever happens again, you can always resort to the ploy that "I need to do more shopping" and head towards an adjacent store with your bags rather than to your car.

If this joker comes back in the club (ever), I would have a big beefy bouncer have a polite conversation with him. Not touch him, mind you, but intimidate the cr*p out of him.

i'm glad you're ok Tia...i've had a similar situation happen to me...but this guy lives in the same complex as i do...he had the nerve to ask me what gym i work out at (for some odd reason he thinks i like him...just because i was nice to him when i first moved here)...as if i was going to tell his tired ass...and he started to follow me to my car...'til i turned around and looked at him like 'what the fuck are you doing'...

so as a result...i'm no longer nice to guys who are complete strangers...the harassment isn't worth the conversation...
Why do some people still have to fight...to get the same opportunities...that are given to others??...

Where do these guys get their nerve. When someone is nice to me, I don't assume they want me. Tia you are very lucky. I used to go everywhere by myself, nowadays noway! It does suck that sometimes I sit here and do nothing because nobody wants to do anything. Do you have a panic button on your key thing? If so just set it off next time. Take care .

You poor thing! I advise you ask for mace/pepper spray for x-mas.

What a clueless dipshit ASSHOLE that guy is! I would not only (in the safety of the club) tell him that his behavior was unbelievably innapropriate, but I'd have the bouncer give him a little scare too, the way Monty said, and then NEVER talk to the creep again. It pisses me off the way some men don't understand that most of them are bigger and stronger than we are and that it's intimidating in itself . He put you in an awful position and he had no right. Let the fucker know it.

I got both pepper spray/mace and a stun gun when I started dancing! Luckily I haven't had to use them but they're nice to have. I found a website that sells self defense items for wholesale price, I got both for $33 including shipping. I'm pretty sure the site is www.ultraselfdefense.com.

Thank you all for your advice and support-it's definitely something I don't want to go through again!! I really appreciate the support

I used to have pepper spray in the car-but I recently went to Canada and had to get rid of it I had forgotten to replace it-this was a blinding reminder. I definitely plan on replacing it-and letting the club know about him too.

I just didn't think on my feet-something I'm definitely going to have to work on! I was totally unprepared both mentally and physically (spray etc)

Yelle- as for requesting a night off: I work the same schedule every week, so I don't bother putting in a schedule-I'm just automatically marked down. Since I usually work both Fri/Sat nights, before I was entered onto the schedule I asked for the weekend off. Apparently the manager forgot this.

    Thanks again

Hope those of you that are getting snow are staying warm! I can't even see my car in the driveway! I guess I can view it as a good source of camoflage in light of things *g*

good to know it turned out ok....what makes me angry is that there is pushy guys like this out there that make having a simple conversation with somone "uncomfortable" plus you probably lost a regular. Would have to agree w/ the pepper spray coment though....I've been sprayed befor (for training purposes) and the stuff sucks. OH and one time a bouncer left his can (unmarked) in my booth....I thaught it was air freshner....the night went down hill from there.
