    Default Hi, I'm new--problem w/ bitchy strippers

Hi everyone - I'm new to dancing, and I have never posted but I've been lurking around the boards for a while now...thanks to everyone for putting all this helpful info out there- it really is priceless to girls like me who don't know the first thing about dancing but want to get started!

I made $335 my first night, and now i'm hooked-no schedule, no real boss, amazing $$, cute clothes & shoes, and getting paid to dance- this is the perfect job!

Anyway--I was expecting to make barely any money for the 1st few months being brand new...but I have been doing suprisingly well, making over 300, up to 800 every night (I have only worked 5 nights so far). Last night i had my first $1000+ night, which was awesome!!!!! But now i am extremely worried about the other girls. This is a small club where all the girls seem to be old friends. They have all been so nice to me so far, but whenever i check out and have a good night, the manager waves my receipts around and tells them all to "take a lesson from her" etc, etc. After last night, I was getting some pretty bitchy looks from alot of the girls--im worried that they will all hate me bc i'm new and "taking away their business." But these girls don't hustle--they're all about big tips and VIPS. What should i do to keep the girls from trying to sabotoage me? One girl told me that now they know i make a lot they are gonna tell customers lies about me to take my buisness away. I don't know what to do.

Also, could someone send me 2 IMs, with just "hi" or something, because I can't access my IM box unless i have 5 in there, and i only have 3-and i want to read them. thanks girls

Ok here's the deal....you gotta get the manager pissed at you so all the "bad girls" dont think you're miss goody goody. To do this get really drunk befor a shift, walk up to the main stage, start dancing...then just pass out up there. When the floor guys come to scoop you up kick one of them in the nuts and slap the other guy...

OK so i'm just joking. Most clubs have that one "group" of girls that are either lazy and want people just to throw money there way or have chips on there shoulders because other people make more money than them.

Try your best to ignore them, dont play there games and be the better person. It's important to get along with the peers you work with but not at the cost of your ethics or dignity. Remember when in a club it all boils down to one thing somtimes......MONEY That's the reason everyone is there. Good luck

Aphrodite, what IM are you using that won't let you access it without 5 messages? The PM for these boards? Never happened to me... that sounds weird to me.

Hun, you should talk to the manager about waving your receipts around. He should know better than to do something like that - of course it will make the other girls jealous of you. Ask him not to make a thing about what you're making and tell him what's been happening with the other girls now that they know you're making money.

There are always those girls who are lazy and expect to have money basically thrown at them, and they always are jealous of the girls who really work and make $$. Your only real option is to ignore them and do your thing. Most of the time they won't affect you much if you just go about your business either ignoring them or being polite only but not saying anything more to them than greeting hello or goodbye. But if someone messes with you, since your manager is obviously impressed with your ability to make money, he should be easy to get on your side if any girls cause any real trouble.

Congrats on your $1K night. At the very least, it should confirm to you that you have things pretty much down and a good system worked out.

What your manager did wasn't all bad, but wasn't too bright either. In all reality, it likely did more good than harm as it establishes yourself on the favored list of the person with hire/fire power. From what I've seen, the heavy rollers in the club that don't get management recognition are more likely to get real sabotage. The ones that do get recognition- they always receive idle threats, as you've seen. In any case, now that he's done it once, it needs to stop. If it becomes a regular thing, it'll just build animosity. I'd just tell him in the interest of coexistence with the others, you'd prefer if he kept your accomplishments less public.

And I would scoff at the girls threatening to tell customers lies. This might effect a cheap tourist, which you want nothing to do with anyways. You also know a hustle NEVER involves the mentioning other dancer's. If someone was stupid enough to try this, it would pique the guy's interest since the dancer the other dancer's talk about is impossible to resist.
It doesn't matter if you're somebody in this world, it rather matters you mean the whole world to somebody.

Welcome to the boards! I think you should pull your manager to the side and tell him that you appreciate how much he praises you, but that It's causing problems with the other girls. More than likely, he'll want to know who is involved, but dont let it come to that. That would really make you look like a goodie-goodie.

    Hi,

i am so happy your are making good money! But the manager seems to be using you as an example to motivate the others, and that can very well cause problems for you, as it seems it is starting to. You say the others don't hustle, that is probably why the manager is waving reciepts around at the end of your night, to make a statement to them saying "get off your ass, and you can make this kinda money to." Which is wrong, and good managers will know this will create problems for you. I would speak with the manager, i would hope he would stop, you have a good thing going.

Upon that, keep your earnings to yourself if others start asking now, count in private, and NEVER leave money at work out of your hands. Also be nice to the dancers, but don't fall into the "friend" trap if they are starting to give you looks.

This job sounds great for you, don't let the dancers ruin it. By keeping a distance, you can't be pushed out the door. Getting involved with what seems like simple chit chat can hurt your earnings, as they may go after customers and spread nasty rumors for one.

Be careful, and speak with management.

Lotsa luck, have another $1000 night!!!

Unless you are in a rinky dinky strip club ... I manager who does that will not last long ... don't just pull him a side ... He is oblivious he is new to managing... that is bullshit ..... you are never and I MEAN NEVER suppose to talk about how much you make ... hell at the club i am at ...(I am the DJ) i get paid 10% of what the girls make yet I am not suppose to know what they make.... I am suppose to TRUST them ... which is laughable... I know how much they make.

anywho... hopefully the manager will get fired soon

That's just the nature of the business. Unfortunately in hard times things become very competitive just as people see immigrants as threatening their jobs so will your coworkers. Being that you are independent contractors and are not just in one big production company I wouldn't count on support from my coworkers.

Those lazy girls will also probably be too lazy to make an organized, serious attempt to bash you enough to ruin your business. At worst, they will sit at the bar together and talk crap about you for an hour while you are making $$. Which guys are gonna hear that? The ones that also hang out by the bar and NEVER buy dances anyway..meow!

I agree, you are making so much money I don't think they could do anything to put that much of a dent in it, it's prob not even worth the effort to them. The manager is a complete idiot and prob wants to cause problems just so the other girls will compete... bigger cut for him. If he quits doing that, the problem should die down. If it doesn't, who cares, you have the best job in the world, rememeber?

Don't worry about. Just make your money and go home. The girls that are being lazy...will stay lazy (and broke). There is really nothing that they can do to "make" customers not spend money on you.

In the whole scheme of things...they probably knew that you were already making some big dough...only in-as-much that they sit around and look for the light of God to shine down on the customers with money...they would have plenty of time to see you working your butt off. I don't think that they are upset that you are making money as much as they are feeling threatened that you are new and already the manager's "favorite".
