Drinking a lot of water can help, but I haven't found anything (other than coverup!) that fixes them.
If anyone else knows how to get rid of them, I'd also be really interested in the answer.

Look in your area for a treatment called ipl (intensed pulsed light tratment)you usually can get 3-5 treatments for 1200,this helps tremendously, though you will have to go back probably every three or four months for a touch up treatment. It also helps with any fine wrinkles or reddness you may get. Also use a creme for under eye cirlcles, something you can get at a drug store, twice a day at home, that should help alot.
Sleep is the key. But we don't get as much as we should at times. I have had this problem for some time as well. I have learned to focus on another part of my face when i have dark circles, say my lips or cheeks. Or a nice sexy hair style.
Also a good high lighter will work wonders if you put it under your bottom eye lids high up on the cheek bone, but not directly on the eye skin itself, as that can give the look of racoon eyes.
Good luck,
Pamela
michele- does the IPL treatment help with the darkness though? or just wrinkles?

Carmen,it actually works better on the dark circles than it does fine lines because the machine was designed to get rid of pigmentation, which dark circles are.It takes my circles away completley, but you must do follow up treatments to keep them away and also wear sunscreen, otherwise they come back quicker.

I suffer from chronic under-eye circles, and have tried literally very product on the market -- Caudalie eye treatment is absolutely miraculous! A 2-3 month supply costs roughly $50, and can be purchased at upscale department stores, suchas Barneys or Saks. It diminishes under-eye circles, wrinkles,a dn puffiness virtually overnight.
Caudalie? im gonna run out & get that. my under-eye circles can get really bad- especially if i'm hungover or didnt get much sleep.
but even if i get sleep they're still there, but lighter, i dont think sleep will fix it, i'ts a pigmentation problem.
The main cause behind circles is lack of oxagen in your blood.
Sometimes you see children and babies with circles. These young ones often have breathing problems.
I have used eye treatment and nothing seemed to help enough.I started useing supplments to improve blood flow , and together with the treatments it worked wonders.
You say psycho like it's a bad thing

Drink alot of water. It flushes out all those toxins. Also it wouldn't help to keep the circulation going in your face. Exercising keeps the blood flowing. You may also try steaming your face.

Miss Eliza,
What supplements are you using? I have the dark circles too. I think mine may be related to that. Good info.
Since bright colors are in this season, rim your eyes (at least for work) with a color, it should lighten everything up. If it's pretty chronic... have you tried going to a dermatologist if everything else these ladies have mentioned aren't working? I think they've covered it all... there are massage techniques for puffiness and those lil ice masks![]()
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.
I know it sounds like it may not work very well, but I have friends that swear by cucumbers.

I was on the Discovery Health website and found this article with some good skin care advice.

The doctor cited in the article promises "The dark circles will be gone, and you'll look amazing," if you eat fish 2x's a day for a few days.
I've found a great highlighter - Estee Lauder's Touche Eclait (sp?) A little pricey- $35.00, but lasts awhile, comes in a handy pen-style applicator, and works reallyreallyreally well.........

This suggestion may sound odd, and a bit off base, but a few years ago, my physician determined that I was severely lactose intolerant. When the the dairy consumption (mostly milk) stopped, the under-eye circles were gone!

YES, francesca is right. Some dark skinned people and people with olive skin will have dark around their eyes all the time no matter what...
However, if you feel you are having dark circles because of your health/immune system challenges there are a few things I can suggest that WILL help. One, let's look into FATTY ACIDS. Yes, we can get fatty acids from fish, but with fish so high in mercury these days, you will be doing yourself more harm than good. You can get ultra-high quality LONG-CHAIN-FATTY-ACIDS (the best kind) from FLAX SEEDS, FLAX SEED OIL, HEMP SEEDS AND HEMPSEED OIL. These will also provide you with ALA (alpha linolenic acid) which is great for the immuns system and the liver (which is the cause of the circles).
Now, you may not want to do all raw fruits and vegetables, but increasing you consumption of raw fruits and vegetables (10 servings a day) will greatly benefit your condition.
Also COLONICS works wonder for circles under eyes. The real cause of your problem is most likely colon/liver toxicity. Your face/eyes are a mirror of your GI tract. Try increasing your fiber intake, decreasing your hydrogenated oil intake, take in a lot of high quality RAW fats (avocado, nuts, seeds, olives, cold pressed olive oil) and getting a lot of water and sleep. Eat your friut and veggies, don't eat processed foods and get exercise.
RAW fat, RAW protien and RAW carbohydrates MUST be a large part of the diet to obtain optimum health.
Try to eat AT LEAST one BIG salad per day. I like Romaine lettuce, or Mescalun Mix with tomatoes, avocado, cucumbers, olives, sweet peppers, and my homemade dressing:
4 Oz. Cold Pressed Olive Oil
2 Oz. RAW apple cidar vinegar
8 Dates
1 Oz. water
1 inch piece of ginger
1 piece garlic
juice of 1 lemon
1 tablespoon italian herbs (oregano, basil, cilantro, ect..)
Mix in Blender to desired consistency.
Good luck.
PS. Go look at my picture in the guest gallery and see how healthy and glowing my skin looks, and I have zero discoloration under my eyes. it is listed as RYAN.
Oh, one more thing --- COCONUT OIL ! Apply to the face everynight AND after going in the sun (prevents wrinkles) AND use it in smoothies. My favorite smoothie is frozen strawberries, fresh squeezed orange juice, a banana and a tablespoon of coconut oil. Blend it up, YUM !
