Default Breast Implants Cost, Location, and Recommendations

I am looking to get breast implants and a lift. I live in South Dakota and in Sioux Falls, I was quoted a price of $5500 for implants and a lift. I thought it might be cheaper in a big city, so I called up a few places in Chicago and was told $8000-$1000 for implants plus lift. Of the Chicago websites I viewed, I didn't really like the look of their boob jobs. Anyone know of a good plastic surgeon in the Sioux Falls/Sioux City region? Are the prices I was quoted common prices for this surgery? Or does anyone have a better suggestion of where to go?

I wouldn't go bargain hunting on cosmetic surgery. You get what you pay for. The ones with more expertise charge more, and they are worth it.

I don't have implants, but I've read a lot about them and had other stuff done, but those quotes seem about right.

That doesn't seem true to me about getting what you pay for. The pictures I've seen on websites of cheaper BA's look better then the one's of more expensive BA's. So, from what I saw, I could still end up getting crap quality for a high price. I'm just kind of curious what prices others paid for their implants, where they got them done, and how happy they were with the results.

Well I am in San Diego so the price might be different but that seems very cheap. I was quoted a lift and BA 7 years ago and it was $8,500. I have no idea what he charges now. I ended up just getting the BA because I was afraid of the scars. I love mine and they were well worth it...I paid $5,000 for the BA, the doctor was going to give me a discount if I got the BA and lift.

You are paying for doctor expertise. A doctor that knows more about implants will charge more than one that doesn't, because he can. Some may charge more without the expertise because they are in a location that they can get away with it. There is not a direct correlation between price and quality, but it's not time to bargain hunt. Not only is this surgery, but it's also an investment on your business. Your number one factor should be the quality of the surgeon, not how much it costs.

I totally agree with Emily, this is your body and someone is going to cut it open and put stuff in it, I would look for quality and never mind the price, if I am dead happy with someone's work I'll pay whatever so that they'll look good. I don't know any good surgeons in that area but I would check out Texas, California, and Florida, I like some of the surgeons from these parts. Just a suggestion there are other surgeons probably closer to you that I haven't looked at yet.

I don't live in that area but I paid $3100 for my implants and I love them. I wouldn't recommend a lift to anyone because it causes nipple puckering and the scars are huge for about a year. You can get tons of information on They have tons of information on doctors and the women on there are fantastic!

Your Dr. can tell you if you really need a lift or not. If you get your BA big enough you might not need a lift. I had a lift and a BA. There is no nipple puckering and the scars are minimal, but it did take a year for the scars to fade quite a bit. I paid $4200 for my BA in Wichita, KS, and my doc said we will watch how they do and if I need a lift he will do it at no additional cost. I got the lift 11 months later and I'm glad I did. He didn't put me under though, it would've cost if he did. I couldn't feel anything though because of the 2 pills he prescribed and the shot he gave me. I think cost of BAs have a direct correlation to the area.

I paid $5200 in Sacramento CA, my surgeon is awesome. The only thing I regret is not getting them bigger, but he (Dr. Osborn - www.anuyu.com) didn't want to go any bigger than would look natural or obvious. They look a little too real to me, I fool 95% of the people who ask me if they are real/fake, even my fellow dancers & the owner of the club who auditioned me. I went from an A cup to a C. I'd post a pic if I had one...

I don't know if I'd agree with what someone said above, above how you shouldn't go "bargain hunting for cosmetic surgery" or whatever it was, that's the only thing I regretted, not looking around at other surgeons & seeing their "work," not the price. You do get what you pay for though so if you want to shop around for price, I don't think it's a good idea. If you see a surgeon in Beverly Hills who has done all of Hollywood's boobs, you are going to pay A LOT of money versus going to a small town surgeon in Idaho, and the quality of their work might now be the same either. I'd advise going to a surgeon with a lot of experience in a bigger city.

hippie, when you say that the cheaper ba's look better than the expensive ba's, I'm curious as to what you consider a good job? Do you want a natural look? Pam Anderson look? How healed are the boob jobs that you're looking at? I think that basing your decision on price is a bad idea but from what I hear, you can get an inexpensive job in Utah.

As far as implant forums go, I highly recommend implantforum over implantinfo. I haven't been on the boob job forums for a few years now, but for god's sake if you go to implantinfo don't tell them you're a stripper unless you want the housewives to rip you a new butt-hole with their freshly manicured nails.

Another good one for your research is

I think Kobi hit the nail on the head with price directly correlating to location. And then within those locations the price will vary somewhat according to skill/experience.

When browsing pics online, find a girl with stats nearly identical to yours.

I've been posting on the cosmetic dentistry forum too. I'm thrilled to see that their resident expert dentist is the one I went to for my veneers, so I had to post to show off my beautiful teeth.

The area has alot to do with the cost. I would say it's probably way cheaper in general in a place like South Dakota, than in others. I got a BA, no lift, in Florida for $4000, and that is relatively cheap. I think $5500 for a BA-lift is cheap. I've never heard of those procedures being that cheap. But outside of regional cost differences, no, it is NOT a good idea to go bargain-shopping for cosmetic surgery, or any surgery for that matter. This is an investment that will change your body forever, so you want to find the best doctor you can get to and afford, not the cheapest.

Also, a note about comparing pics: It's best to compare pics of jobs that are similar to what you are going to get, on women with bodies similar to yours. An under-the-muscle implant is always going to look different than over, and the same exact job on two different women will have two different appearances.

I agree that the major factor in cost differences of BA and other plastic surgeries is regional markets. Manhattan or L.A. prices can routinely be almost double the prices for the same procedure performed by an equally skilled doctor in the South or Southwest. Also, Canadian surgery costs are significantly lower that costs in neighboring US states because of the currency exchange rate.

Another factor in cost difference is whether or not a particular plastic surgeon has invested the time and effort to become ASPRS "board certified". This credential apparently gives "board certified" surgeons the right to charge an extra $1000+. IMHO, this credential does not assure that the surgeon's skills or the cosmetic end result will be any better, but it does seem to make a big impression with housewives.

In my own case, the primary tool I use to evaluate plastic surgeons is the real live implanted breasts of fellow dancers who have used particular doctors, as well as the real live comments these dancers will share about their BA experiences.

Also, keep in mind that the pre and post-op pics you see posted on doctor's websites and implant websites may be hand-picked examples of the top 1% of a particular doctor's end results, and that your own results may be significantly different. Another thing to consider about the content you see on implant websites is that the particular plastic surgeons you see listed there are PAID SPONSORS of those websites, generally meaning that any seriously negative comments posted about a sponsoring plastic surgeon have a mysterious tendency to disappear immediately! This is basically the same principle explaining why you'll never hear a negative comment about SCORES from a guest on the Howard Stern show !

I'm not advocating that anybody should select a plastic surgeon based simply on the lowest price. However, do keep in mind that a plastic surgeon charging high prices is also no guarantee of greater surgical skill or a superior cosmetic end result.

Sometimes a lift isn't necessary and implants often look better if the breast sags a bit. I had my boobs done by Dr. Feagin in Dothan, AL and the cost was $2,900. This included the implants, and all hospital and surgical fees including anesthesia. I went to him after seeing 3 other girls he's done that I'd worked with in places as disparate at DC and New Orleans and they all looked fantastic. However, Dr. Feagin goes in through the nipple. He'll freely admit they don't look as good if he goes in through the armpit. His colleague, Dr. Owen, goes in through the armpit and I saw one of his BA's on a girl who had kids (and some sagging) and she looked very good.
I was a bit concerned because of the whole "you get what you pay for" idea. Mine were dirt-cheap by implant standards and I received the best of care in an excellent hospital, but I've seen girls pay $7000+ and get butchered. Keep in mind that in big cities you're often paying the doctor's overhead: fancy (expensive) office space in an exclusive area and staff salaries in an area with high cost of living. These weren't issues in Dothan, so I had the savings passed on.
Whoever you go to, do your research, and don't go through with the BA unless you feel truly comfortable with your surgeon.

yup- it's definitely not a case of you get what you paid for- mine were dirt cheap as well, 2900 everything included, but my surgery was in a very small town (pop. 3000- I swear, the dancers coming in from SEattle to get BA's was that towns principle industry!!) so the surgeon was able to have lower rates. I went to him because 5 other girls in my club went to him and I saw them from before their jobs and at least 2 years after before I made my decision.
Oh, and for the post about the Utah docs.- pay attention to who you go to. I almost went to Dr. Harline because several girls at the Men's Club in Reno when I danced there had theirs done by him and they looked great, but when I called the Utah state medical board and made inquiries, I found his license was under probation for 5 years, and he had 5 lawsuits pending against him. Good thing I was looking into more than 1 doctor so I had another plan!

yeah, that was his name, Dr. Harline. I've met several girls with BIG implants that got theirs done in Utah. (not sure what exact doc tho) It seemed that Utah was the place to go for inexpensive BIG boobs. Although I did hear there wwere some complaints about Dr. Harline. But as you said Mermaid, you saw several girls who had gone to him and "they looked great." It makes you kinda wonder what exactly were the complaints and lawsuits about? If some girl was complaining because her breasts turned out too big I'd pee my pants laughing!

AMEN! To what Emily said about getting what you pay for. I have seen thousands of boob jobs while dancing and can pretty much count on my fingers the number of GREAT ones in the bunch. Personally, I didn't want my boobs to be good, I wanted them to be GREAT. I went to Dr. Thomas Taylor in Pasadena, CA and paid $6,000. He is fantastic and I got to have surgury in a hospital, not his office. Personally, if I am going to be under general, I want an emergency room on premesis incase of problems. Anyway, I LOVE my boobs and have had so many compliments. (Picture to the left)
