Default Still on the hunt

Does anyone know how hard it is to get a job at a club as a bouner, or what-not. If your not a dancer, their not interested. I'm assuming that it's all about who you know to get a job, cause honestly I wouldn't be afraid of alot of bouncers at the club I always goto. I look at them and think, what the hell could that guy do, that I couldnt do twice as fast?! I'm lookin for a job on the inside to see what else goes on, cause my real objective is to manage or own a club, and I figure starting out on the inside would help greatly.....Anyone got any advice or help?

My boyfriend was a bouncer at one of the nicer places in town, but the pay is crap and the hours are long so he just sticks with his day job now.

1) YOU are not getting hired as a bouncer at a club, call it instinct, but the posts you made in the "Customer Conversation" Forum explain, exactly, why we strippers sometimes hate men. I think you are horny, and want the job to score chicks. 100% of managers will be able to see right through that facade in <1 minute. Ok, I hope I am wrong...

2) You have to know the management from a place OUTSIDE the club. Losers come to stripclubs every day and night looking for the job. Management cannot handle much more liability than the strippers already give them, hehe...

3)Preferably, you should be from the same hometown as the G.M., and have worked as a bouncer before in a bar he is familiar with, hence, "references". Btw, it is a JOB like any other, you need experience.

Oh, the bouncers you have seen are not that "scary " looking because most SC's do not want to project a rough image. They make the bouncers wear suits, and give them nice sounding titles, like floor manager, door manager, etc...Brawn is less important.

Usually security guys and off-duty cops provide the meathead quota.

Well dont worry, you are wrong about me. I'm not some horny guy looking to score chicks, however I am a guy looking to score money. The posts I made were mer honest curious questions, and thats all, I was unaware of the hatred that you ladies had about questions like that. Like everyone else in life, money is a must. I'm very interested in the stripper world and the things that go on, and the money that it makes. I agree with the experience part, which still is a rough job to score. So, for now, it looks as though for now, I will remain an outsider, not gaining anymore knowledge than I already have. Hell, I'm not even just looking for a bouncer job, I'd take what I could get, just for the experience and knowledge.

I also believe my age is a big factor as to why they dont give me a second look, hell half the time they wont even give me a chance to even talk with a higher up person.

If you really need the money, why don't you get a job as a driver for an escort agency? Agency's hire way more frequently and are a little less picky (you don't always need to be an insider). Plus there are more agencys than there are strip clubs. You'd still be acting as a body guard and recieving a percentage of tips from the ladies. Something to consider.

dont you get excited or horny while dancing for a guy.

I've been told that I'm pretty cute, or hot, and I'm just wondering if you ever get interested or excited?

If so, would you try to make an effort for something to happen, not just at the work place
And questions like......

Honestly, and without being intentionally cruel: Naricissist,
As a bouncer, you will be the lowest man on the totem pole. Your responsibilities will be checking IDs and walking dancers to their cars. The girls will be tired, and mostly complain to you about customers and how little money they made that night, which is still more $$ than you will make in a month at the same place.
Seldomly will you get tips from any of the girls. You could be making more money as a waiter in a decent restaurant.

My boyfriend did it because he needed to work at night, since he has a full day job. He got it because:
1) He knew the GM from back home in Nu Joisey. He was already a bouncer in a bar the GM frequented.
2) He is 6'5 and 240 of muscle (ok, ok, I'm bragging here, hehehe...but he makes me proud :tongue. Thus, he looks like he could kick anyone's ass to the curb.
3) He personality is very unsleazy, he is very genteel.

STILL, STILL, STILL, he made so little $$ that he quite after less than 2 months of not getting any sleep for nuthin.....

Also, may I suggest, for new members:

1) READ the existing posts first. The questions you ask have been recently answered so many times. We are not tired of men, we are tired of the same question asked by those too lazy to actually READ!

2) If you do have a question, you can actually do a SEARCH () for keywords, and the topic may already have been addressed a long time ago.

I'm not the premier member here or anything, only been around <2 months, but please try to empathize with the girls AND boys who frequent this place, aka, the ADDICTS, hehehehehehehehe!

Bouncer/floorman job requirements are dependant upon the type of club he's working for. Such as, at a higher scale club, he may have many other responsibilities because, for the most part, they're simply putting in their time as floorguy so that they can work their way up to management level. Usually they're treated, by the girls, with the same respect and courtesy (and occasional bitchiness) that they'd give a manager. At nicer clubs you rarely see a "bouncer" beat-up an unruly customer; because what the club is looking for in their security is the mental capacity to talk their way out of physical confrontation, while still controlling the situation even if that means asking the unruly customer to "call it a night." Keep in mind, this is a business they're running, and while the occasional fight may be entertaining to some bored girls, it puts bystanders in danger, may cause legal repercussions, and leaves a poor taste in the mouth of the respectable customers, not to mention the friends of the unruly customer who may have just had a bit too much to drink that night... either way, business is lost.

In the more ghetto clubs I'd imaging they'd hire male employees on the same basis they would female... take what they can get, given the lack of money made.

I don't refer to our security as "bouncers," I have more respect for the way they don't feel the need to use hostility when matters can be handled discreetly and amicably. However, I have seen them get physical when necessary, and you're a fool to believe that the size and appearance of the man has anything to do with his ability to subdue a full grown madman. Never under-estimate the little guy.

There is a 24hr club here that I occasionally go to after 2am on weekends, it's 18 and up BYOB and a bit on the ghetto side; so not to sound conceited or anything, but I really stand out there. Well, this club hired their "bouncer" based on brawn rather than brain (I hate to say this because he's a really nice guy) anyway, he looks big and scary; yet while throwing out a group of young gangster punks, last month, he got stabbed three times in the gut. He was in the hospital for a while, thank God he survived, and is already back to work. I love the poor guy and all; but his size doesn't make me feel any safer because he's not very bright... kind of on the slow side.

If you're serious about managing a strip club, than you've got the right idea as far as starting out as a floorman; however when you interview, express your brains rather than show off your fighting skills.

I think most clubs are just being way too cheap to bother trying to hire someone they have to pay right now - they're only interested in dancers because the dancers pay them. Might have better luck after the holidays - I reckon the clubs would have the bouncers they'd need at holiday time, after that, they may lose some guys who were just needing extra $$.

Size does not equal strength. Look at martial artists for example, many look quite small but are deadly. It's not how big a guy is, it's how skilled he is at self defense.

There is an old saying- it's the little guy you gotta worry about

And as Naomi pointed out, physical confrontation is a last resort. The most valuable aspect of a bouncer's ability is to be able to mentally control a situation.

Thanks alot to all the ladies that had the respect to lend some knowledge or different ideas for me, rather than just bash 2 lil questions that I asked. Quite honestly from what posts I've read, Seraya and Katrine seem to talk badly to anything posted, and never have anything polite to say, no offense to either of you, cause it is just your opinions, and I'm aware of the supposide image you two have of me, and that prolly won't change, but what can you do right?!

That's not true.... i can't speak for everybody else but i tend to use the karma for ppl who have helped me recently, in the past or post's that i like and agree with. I'm not interested in smiting ppl.

The thing is you have only joined and already made two posts regarding subject's and questions that some female member's here don't really care for.... For example you created a thread asking if dancer's get turned on or horny when giving lap's and if they would take it further, when the SAME question was asked in another thread just below your one!

I'm sure if you stick around, become a regular member and start posting legitimate questions your karma will go up! .......

Trust me it's nothing personal!

Really, the bouncers you've seen look like they can't do a thing? Well I don't know where you're at but all the bouncers around here look like WWF wrestlers. I have my suspicions that they more look the part than play the part. Clubs, businesses hire people as bouncers that just by looking at them has a deterent affect even though in reality they wouldn't know the first thing about how to handle a conflict.
A club hiring an average looking guy? Well maybe as you say they might have some connection with the owners or must possess some high degree of negotiating abilities not physically apparent. Or it could be the business simply couldn't affort a quality bouncer.
That's where your negotiating skills come into play. See if you can convince the business that you can do the job at a better price. Good luck to you.

Try applying for an intern position with the manager. It's a cross between a go-fer and an assistant; unpaid, but the bouncers won't make much more in most clubs. Bonus: you don't have to hose away vomit in the men's restroom. Being an intern will get you the industry experience you say that you want.

As to the "mean strippers picking on you", welcome to the insular world of message boards. I recommend that you lurk for a whle to get the feel of a board before jumping right in. Every message board is a semi-closed community of people who understand the community rules, said rules differing from one board to the next. Breaking the rules, even if you didn't know them, gets the newbie hazing.

It won't make you feel any better, but I can assure you that there are far tougher boards than this. On one of my old boards, the cutthroat behaviour towards newbies was so terrible that their member title was "Fresh Meat". Any post smacking of "HI! I'm new here!" was met with "No shit. Now go away." A political debate board I moderated for a while had lurkers who spent months reading before they mustered the courage to join the fray. This board is positively refined in comparison.

If what you are really interested is learning to manage and/or own a club and not DANCERS-

Get resturaunt/bar management experience elsewhere first. then go to a club looking for a job; you'll be taken much more seriously.
Even though its a stripclub you still need to know how do your orders so your always stocked, handle or get and most importantly KEEP permits/licenses and so on. Learn to deal with irrate/drunk/cheap customers, flaky employees etc. as well as how to treat your staff so you get the very best out of them, how to smooze your good customers to the bar/clubs best interest..... you need to know these things BEFORE investing in or running a bar or nightclub, particularly a stripclub.

Its not for everybody.

Much of this can be ( imho should be) learned/practiced outside adult entertainment venues because everthing in a SC is magnified- the good the bad and the ugly. Owners and managers shouldn't be green.
