    Default Cleaning emergency

I got in from a hard night partying and decided to drain my aquarium. Everything in it had died due to a filter malfunction. As I was draining it, the most putrid smell in the entire world began emerging from this tank. Smelled like horrid rotten eggs. So I manage to drain all the water out (puked/gagged 3 times) and I carried the 150 pound aquarium outside. The entire house smelled like rotten eggs and my dad was getting mad at me. So I went to Walmarts and I bought $20 worth of air freshners and used them on the upstairs. But the basement (where the aquarium was) still smells gaggingly bad.

I am never keeping fish again.

    LOL,
And after this you went to the club to "share the joy"?

The smell is sulphur which anything citrus reacts well with as an odor eliminator.

Reminds me of the day i had Oscars, and had to do a partial water change every 2 weeks, my two friends decided to picked up a side of the tank, and the damn bottom fell out. Lucky you.

What's Oscars?? I'm so lost.. Hmm that is really gross David. I'm sorry but it's kinda funny in a way. Or am I just evil ? JK Hmm I'd vacume and steam clean the carpets (you mght of leaked some nasty water into your carpet keeping the smell there). I'd also spray the air with disinfectant too. Hope this helps...

Shedevil Oscars are huge fish! They eat other fish and crawfish etc. They can be quite mean! lol. They are very smart, i hand fed my two, open the lid to the tank and they would put their faces out of the water and i would drop a large worm down their mouths.

I had a red and tiger Oscar. They did get along well, which i hear most don't. But they moved huge rocks, and would hit the lid when they wanted more food, so i had to put rocks on top of the lid. Gee, constant tank cleaning, but they stayed with me for around 4 years. Then i had to take them to an aquarium store. Thank god they took them in. They are fun to watch, and learn quickly....For a large fish.

Here is some info, and pics.

I hate to say this shedevil, but Betas are notorious jumpers.

And Pamela, I meant through the glass. LOL
Considering were you live, I would have considered an outside inground pool, so long as you can keep the neighborhood cats away.

cut up a plate full of apples and leave around the room. They absorb odor, smoke, etc. good idea for smelly car too. I used them to take spoiled milk smell out of car when the milk jug burst on the way home from store in July. yechh!

The apples are good. Also spray half vinegar and half water randomly around the room (spot check it on your carpet first).

Thanks for all the advice guys. I bought alot of scented carpet powder, citrus air freshners, and odor remover sprays. The smell that was in the house probably had the same chemical composition of rotten eggs (sulfer something).

As for Oscars, in Southern Florida, you can catch them in lakes all day long.
