    Default Insulting license plate frame

I was driving the other day & was in back of a car (with a woman driver) and the license plate frame read "strippers don't dance...dancers don't strip." I'm assuming the woman driver was a ballerina or a feminist or something... Am I taking this the wrong way or is that an insult?

    Ya - common attitude...blech!
I also dance ballet and these people can be such snots, I stopped posting on a ballet dance board because I couldn't handle how disparaging the majority were toward those in the exotic dance biz.
It's like that whole are we "dancers" or "strippers" - well, I'm both, I dance on stage, but I also get naked, crawl around, and shake my ass in guys faces...get over it! LOL
Many times the haters are just jealous, they wish they had the guts to try it themselves, and they just can't stand those of us who have what it takes!

Oh you should see Florida. They put signs on the front of the car and have bumper stickers made up.

I used to have a tag made for the front that read: Fonesx1

But it was taken off when i no longer wanted to answer questions about it.

Here they allow alot of odd, insulting and very harsh words to be on your car.

I also had a bumper sticker that said: I'm not your fucking baby
And i do remember seeing a striipper sticker, but don't remember what it said, gave me a good laugh. I don't take them serious.

It could be considered insulting but I don't know to whom. All it really seems to indicate is that the two groups don't like to be identified with each other for their own reasons.
In my state ,if someone is offended by something you write on your license plate that wasn't generated by a random sequence of alpha numeric characters by the DMV like 4PLAYNE1 can be sued and the plates removed.

I have to kind of squint at that... I used to take ballet lessons at the ballet company here (and modern, lyric, jazz, middle eastern, swing) and of the people I met over *12* years of that, about 25% (at least) of them danced topless in a stripclub at one time or other.

Another funny side to that? Since Yelle saw it it was here in Reno and with the small exception of the ballet company that doesn't even have a full season, pretty much *ALL* the professional dance oppurtunities are topless (casino reviews, etc.). Maybe it should read "dancers only strip while choreographed".

hehe. What a snootie and judgemental thing to have for a license plate frame. It's kind of funny, not because of the message it yields, but due to the obvious desolate attitude needed to wield such a thing.

I just hope it will always be met with a "Proving Primadonna's wrong nightly!" gameface in return. Things based on prejudice and ignorance ARE always funny in that respect.

i agree that she is probably a dancer and is making her "statement" because when she tells people she is a dancer they probably think she is a stripper! I wouldnt let it bother you, she is just ignorant

isn't that the same with how some of the girls here gang up on those that either work in higher contact clubs, do escorting, or give extras? you're all in the "adult" entertainment industry....but oh, we're not like them, they're lower then us. perhaps you should take the lesson from this plate to unite with not only those that airdance, but even those that escort. they realy aren't all that far appart. i always thought of dancers as being liberal and enlightened. but from reading some of the posts here...one way to put it is i suppose i stereotype too much.

I lived with a woman for several years who had taken a lot of ballet, jazz, and modern dance. She danced very well, though she never did strip, except for me now and then. But it was very difficult to get her out into a dance club for some fun, as she kind of looked down on it, even though she thought I was a good dancer (for an untrained guy). I wonder what her attitude would be towards stripping?

Probably she would look down on it--as an art form as practiced by the majority of dancers. I should call her and find out, lol.

As a DJ whose motivation is to create erotic art--in spite of the derision of my skeptical friends (You would not believe how much bullshit I have to put up with when I tell them this!) and lack of cooperation from jaded, moronic, and cretinous management--I am always on the lookout for women who really are trying to be expressive and creative onstage. And they get the most from me.

Quite often they are the ones who have had formal dance lessons. I can almost always tell if that's the case, or if they've had gymnastics. But there are a lot of women who are just naturally talented, and naturally want to use that talent, even if it is "just" in a stripclub. I say more power to 'em, and to hell with anyone who turns their nose up at that.

I have gone to some excellent modern dance and ballet performances, but none of them could hold a candle to the pleasure I have had upon seeing a dancer going off onstage, feeling the flow, and not even giving a damn who was watching or not--though almost invariably everyone in the house would have their eyes glued to the stage.

True, there are a lot of strippers who can't dance... there are frankly just a lot of girls who are bad at the simple art of stripping! What it comes down to is what you make of the oppurtunity.

But here is a personal thing:
Me and a friend were in a local experimental (meaning emphasis on modern and non-Western forms like African or Middle Eastern) dance company and when it was known we were strippers they would actually change rehearsals without telling us in order to have us not know the choreography! We auditioned to be a part of this on the same terms they did and were awarded parts on the same merits. We left the group because of the negativity. So, as a professionally trained dancer AND stripper, I find it insulting.

I think I'll retaliate by starting a really well-done burlesque group in Reno, lol.

Hey Ripley--at the larger clubs in Vegas you do have to get up on stage and be evaluated by a manager in front of whoever may be sitting at the stage at that time...however, if the manager knows you or you have worked at one of the top clubs you dont have to audition. I agree that formal dancing is harder but its like comparing apples to oranges...stripping is totally different and hard in its own way...there are alot of girls that arnt as good at stripping as others...probably because there really isnt anyone teaching you what to do, they just throw you out to the wolves so to speak and you fend for yourself...

I think that woman is the other type of dancer (ballet, jazz, etc.) I know from experience that ballet dancers tend to be pretty stuck up and pretencious. So don't worry about it hon

My guess is that owner it's a religous extreemist, not a dancer -- of any sort.

I do not look down upon my sisters in sex work - although I couldn't escort personally, if a woman chooses to do so and is happy with her choice, power to her. I do however object to the streetwalker who was pimped out, or the girl who has been forced into prostitution - if it is not free choice, then I am saddened by the plight of one, who for whatever reason, had no better options.

In general I don't think professional strippers dance as well as professional ballet dancers. I mean how do strippers get hired? Did the owner actually make you dance and evaluate your dancing before he hired you? Or, did you just have to show him some pictures of yourself in a bikini?
Okay, are we surprised here? How many years of ballet experience does it take to dance Swan Lake? I would never argue that exotic dance is as challenging at ballet. But it is a form of dance and it takes a certain amount of grace, skill, and effort to do it well.
And where I am, you do have to be able to dance with some ability - I only do stage performances, and they are performances, I work through agencies and the clubs pay me to come dance there. So it's not just about how I look in a bikini. I am sure that there are many talented performers here who do put on a good show, and damn straight that's something they can be proud of.

Well, I would TOTALLY put a quote like that on my car, just for shits and giggles. I'm a stripper and proud of it, but I would sooooo get a kick out of something like that. I think alot of people take things way too seriously, and yeah Monty, I'd have flashed that chick my DDs in a second. us:

Right, and many ballet dancers are flat chested 'cause otherwise they'd have no other choice than to be strippers

I seen a chic going down the road a few years back and her plate said DICLUVR I could not believe that got threw the DMV. I thought it was funny as hell.
