Has anyone ever had their eyebrows, eyes, lips, etc. tattooed? How were your results?

I work with a waitress who waxes her eyebrows totally off and has them tattooed on. Two perfectly symmetrical thin black arches that look totally ridiculous. I can see highlighting them, a bit of permanent eyeliner or lipcolor, but totally drawn eyebrows just look stupid. Like a clown.
I have known girls who had lips colored, and they looked great. I've thought of doing it myself, as my natural lip color is an extremely pale pink, almost white. I like to wear lipgloss, but I always have to get the tinted kind so my lips don't fade away!
A friend at work has her lips done and they look wonderful. I'm actually considering it myself now that I've seen such good results.

I'm curious..what would possess you to even want to know about this type of permanent makeup? I dont think it's necessary. I mean look at it like this. Most makeup applications are trendy, so why risk getting something like your eyebrows "painted" just to have them look a hot mess next season. I think you should just learn good makeup techniques and applications.Originally Posted by Rican_Asian_Ma link=board=5;threadid=5462;start=msg58760#msg58760 date=1072349879

For eyebrows and eyeliner, I would agree except in the case of very good, subtle work. A girl I know with very light brows had some taupe added to bring them out and it looks natural. I wouldn't have known if she hadn't told me. All the tattooed eyeliner I've seen looks too thick to me.
The lips I've seen basically sharpened the natural line with pretty much the natural lip colour. It gave a nice natural but stronger look. It wasn't really "makeup-y".

Oh...I'm just curious. One of my older cousins just had them done and I think they look great. Except the fact that she decided on a color way darker than her natural color. They do look rather fake though. She shaved her eyebrows off and they completely stand out.
This seems to be a big craze right now. I keep seeing the woman i had a consult with on TV, she has her upper and lower lids done, lips lined and eyebrows done. She looks very pretty. She is a Plastic Surgeon, but i remmember picking some info. on permanent makeup and the reading was very informative.
It says to always no matter what, go with the lightest colour. that way you can go darker with your own makeup if you wish at certain times. I read it's a question some gf's have when seeing a new guy and want to wake up next to him with that fresh look. Makes sense, i just don't think i would like the eyebrow thing. The Plastic Surgeons lips look great and her eyes, they are a peachy light, natural kinda look, but her eyebrows look silly to me.

Great response, Bridgette! I couldn't agree more. When I went through my little waitressing phase a few years ago, I worked with a girl (well, after the operation was complete, was a girl.. lol), and she had shaved her eyebrows completely off, and went for a time trying to just pencil them in. She finally gave up and got them tattooed on, and they looked completely silly. I'm all up for the lipliner and eyeliner, but anything else, I wouldn't recommend.Originally Posted by Bridgette link=board=5;threadid=5462;start=msg58763#msg58763 date=1072350933
If I wasn't such a wuss about needles, I would get lipliner and eyeliner done, just to save a bit of time.. lol

I was just about to say something similar. I have thought about the lip thing, but I am such a wuss! How bad does it hurt? Can you get/take something for pain ahead of time? I wanna know! I'd hate to get in the chair and get halfway done only to realize I can't take it!Originally Posted by Rhiannon link=board=5;threadid=5462;start=msg58935#msg58935 date=1072438490
Cinnamonkisses summed it up for me. Make-up trends change so rapidly that you may look hot this season, but be totally out of style the next. No-longer-trendy eyeshadows can be thrown away; tattooes cannot.
Just consider for a moment what you wore back in highschool... and how you would look wearing that same style today. Dunno about the rest of you but perpetual raccoon eyes (ala' early 90's) would make me shudder.
He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you. ~ Friedrich Nietzsche

I've met maybe 3 people in my life with tatooed eyebrows...and every time it's been like when you are talking to someone..but your eyes wander off and ends in their cleavage? it's been like that but with the eyebrows! i just can't stop staring. I can't decide if it looks good or bad..just filling them in a little might be good tho! but the total shave off...seems drastic.
Both my hairdresser & my former boss have their eyelids & lips done & it looks totally natural. I also used to work with an aesthitican (sp) who specialized in perm makeup. I was actually thinking of getting my eyes done, just very subtle, thin lines of charcoal. If I do it, I will post pics. My lips are naturally a pink color so I wouldn't need/want that. It is the current trend right now, apparently.
I know that most all aesthiticians (why can't I spell that word?!) numb you up pretty good before you get it done. I also know that you have to go back at least 1 more time, sometimes 2-3 more times, about a month later to get them touched up & some aesthaticians charge per setting as opposed to one fee that includes touchups. It costs a couple hundred $ per area, I think out here it's about $300 for eyelids.
In my opinion, from what I have seen out here, it is not bad if done in moderation. The eyebrow thing mentioned above seems a bit much though. Plus, it supposedly only lasts 2-5 years since the areas are so sensitive & the applications are so small.

I've been thinking of having my lips done. I have a little scar, more like a loss of color on the cupids bow, on my upper lip and my lower lip seems a lot larger than the top one. I would think it hurts like hell though?? Eyeliner would be nice too if it looked natural.

I don't think I would ever have this done. Like Lilith and Cinnamonkisses said, trends come and go. I also think it would be freaky to wake up with no make up on, yet have make up on, especially to some guy who definitely would not understand. A lot of times I like to have no makeup on too, especially during the day.
And what if the artist made a mistake? It's on your face! You could research and find the best artist ever, and people still make mistakes. Scary!
The only thing I can see that I would like would be a tatooed beauty mark, like Marilyn Monroe or Cindy Crawford, but I would still never get that.

I would do lips, maybe, but all the eyebrows I have seen have been scary! Plus the trends in eyebrows change just as with any makeup- remember Brooke Shields in the 80's?
Honestly, I don't wear enough makeup for the costs of tattooing to be covered by the lack of buying makeup.. so I don't think I'd do it.

Yes, I have my eyes (upper/lower liner done) and I recently got lipliner done as well. (the color blends with my normal lip color so you can't really notice it-I got it to even out my lip line).
I love the results and have gotten several compliments. I've referred 4 girls that I work with to my tech so far... lol
Any specific questions, I'd be more than willing to answer![]()
Just remember ladies, it's a ONE DAY training course to get licensed in permanent makeup. That's right, your face, permanently marked, after one day of training. Facial tat's are considered by the bod mod world to be the most hardcore tat you can get, shouldn't the person doing it be someone with a bit more of a clue? Yes, experience is nice, but someone had to suffer.
I dunno, if I thought I could trust um, I'd have medium brown, very thin eyeliner done. I've got all sorts of problems with one eye, so I can't do eyeliner myself. That's where the permanent makeup is cool, for older gals who still wanna gussy themselves up, but can't see well enough to do the precise stuff.

The suggestion I got (from the woman I mentioned with the nice natural work) was to ask plastic and reconstructive surgeons for a referral. With anything like this, I'd want to see work and hear experiences. In many places, you don't even need that one day course to do tattoo work!

OOh definitely check out your tech! This is your face you're talking about. If you were in upstate NY I'd refer you as I love my tech-she is very skilled and specializing specifically in beauty (no hair, nails, etc) I have her do all my work-whether it be perm makeup or eyelash tinting/perming. She even sent me Godiva chocolates in the mail for Xmas as a "thank you for your business" I thought that was extremely sweet
If you find someone who you can trust-I'm sure you'll love the results..
