Default How do you get paid? What's the industry like in your area?

In my area, the almost all of clubs are booked by agencies. The dancers move weekly from club to club on a circuit. They are paid for a certain amount of shows per week. These dancers rarely do private dances and therefore don't really have to interact with any customers when they are off the stage. Tipping isn't a big thing here either.

Now, from reading this forum for a while, it seems like in most places, dancers earn their income from only lapdances and tips. I was wondering, are there any other places with paid stages? I'm asking because the industry here seems to be slowly moving towards lapdancing and hussling and away from paid stages.

Not that it's a bad or something, but the industry here seems to be evolving. Clubs are adding vip dancers and installing booths for private dances. There have been clubs here already that don't use circuit dancers and instead have their own dancers, but they are in the minority.

Where is this? I thought all clubs in the states had gone to lap/table/private dancing as the main source of dancer income! Even with those in the midwest that book dancers, don't they still make most of their money from tips/dances? All those I've heard about only pay like $400/week, or less, and I cannot imagine dancing all week just for that!

    Hey Bridgette,

Sleepy and I are in Vancouver, BC. Western Canada is probably the only place left that still has a "circuit". It's probably similar to what features do in the US, you work a different club every week, do full shows (18 min sets, full costumes, supply your own music) and are paid by the club to perform. It is wholly agency booked and you pay commission out of your earnings. There are a few clubs who also have girls working the floor, but they don't go on stage.
Having said that, the latest trend is to book a VIP/main stage spot, where the dancer only gets 1 or 2 shows per night, and makes the rest of their money working the floor. This way the club gets more variety in dancers, for less money, but by allowing the girl to work the floor she can still make a decent income.
From an economic standpoint, this makes a lot of sense for the clubs which are struggling these days. When you consider entertainment costs of say $100-$200 an hour before even factoring in staff wages, building operating expenses, etc., you have to sell a lot of drinks just to break even. I'm sure eventually we will see the industry here move to a system more like the US, I just really hope in happens after I've left the business - I still really like gettting paid to perform, rather than having to pay for the privilege of hustling dances.

i doubt you'd find any clyb here in new york that pays anyone to work i guess in the big cities where there are alot of people it would be very hard for you to find clubs thats pay your best bet is to go to the small cities and i doubt you'd find anything decent thats pays...

In the States the vast majority of dancers are independent business owners (or contractors). The dancer usually pays the club for the priveldge of doing business under their roof. After paying fees and tipping staff members, the remainder of income from lap dances and stage tips is the dancer's to keep.

There are a few remote clubs and many in the smaller cities in the midwest will pay their dancers a base of anywhere from $300-$450 for a 6 night booking. These clubs usually earn their salaries back by paying commission on lap dances sold ie; $15 of every $20 lap dance is paid to the dancer at the end of her shift. So if a dancer does only 10 lap dances per night on average (which is very low) the club has earned back the $300 that they have paid the dancer to be there in the first place.

My preference is to have a flat rate per shift worked ie; $10 house fee for days, $20 for early evening, and $40 for nights. Then I know exactly how much my out of pocket expenses are going to be and can plan accordingly. There is usually an additional expense to use the VIP and/or Champange lounge. The standard I have found is about $50 for each half hour of use. The normal charge to the customer is $150 and with the dancer keeping $100 for herself. Of course this also runs the full range depending on the club with the VIP costing the customer as little as $50 up to $500 for an hour of use.

I live in Oregon and here the house fees are very low, with the most upscale clubs charging only $20 for their most expensive shifts. Most clubs have no or refundable house fees. There is very little VIP lounge use here so most VIP areas are used for individual lap dances that are anywhere for $10-20 per song. The dancer keeps the total lap dance charge and she also keeps all of her tips from stage and table side dances.

I hope you have found this info useful. Take care

    XOXO Paris

Sydney has a club circuit. The dancers get paid $30 for a 15-20 minute show plus tips if there are any. They used to get booked for 10 shows a night working a minimum of 3 4 hour shifts a week but this year from what I can make out the number of shows per night has dropped to between 3 and 7.

There are clubs in Wisconsin that pay the dancers $200 or $300 a week to dance, but the majority of your money is made off of tips, drink commissions, and private dances. In order for you to get your base pay of $200 or $300 a week, you have to work long hours:usually Monday through Saturday, 4 pm to 2 am or 5 pm to 2 am. If you miss a day because you are sick or if you are late without a good excuse, you do not get your base pay. Usually the clubs that offer base pay are in Bumfuck Egypt and do not have the greatest earnings potential. They have to pay the dancers because it is the only way to draw new girls in-otherwise they have the same dancers dancing every week. There are a few clubs that offer base pay that have decent earnings potential, but for the most part, these clubs pay the girls because there is not enough business to make it worthwhile for girls to work there.

There are NO clubs in the U.S. that pay girls just to be stage dancers. If you are a feature, however, you may find some clubs still that will pay you to do your "act" about twice a night, but the number of these clubs is dwindling fast, and these clubs generally aren't the best.
But in order to qualify for a feature act these days in the U.S. you either have to be a porn star, appeared in numerous well known adult magazines, or have extra large breasts...I'm talking WELL above DDD to even be considered as a big boob feature nowadays.

There are clubs though, that are only stage dancing clubs. Most of these the girls only dance in bikinins and don't get fully nude. There aren't a lot of these clubs, and the club doesn't pay the girls to work there (or if they do it's an insignificant amount), so the dancers make their money off whatever the guys happen to tip them while they are on stage. I talked to a girl who worked at one of these places once, and she said the money wasn't the best...about 200 tops...and this was during the 90's when money was easier to make stripping.

Yes there are: I used to work at two of them Good Guys and Camelot, both in Washington, DC. At Camelot they pay you $30 a shift, plus tips. No tipout or house fee, though you're considered an employee which means you're at their mercy for scheduling. No lapdances or VIP's either.

The DC/Baltimore area is surprisingly sucky for dancing. Hustler Baltimore showed potential, but they can't seem to attract or retain dancers because their management is borderline psychotic. I mean, if you claim to be the best club in the area, wouldn't you have dancers banging the door down to work there?

I think Scores in Baltimore might show some potential since they'll be close to downtown and the business travelers and stadiums.

Aside from that, most clubs aren't all that great. The Gold Club seems nice, but I keep hearing that it only gets busy on weekends.

Most other clubs in the whole state aren't even worth mentioning.

$30 a shift? Does that even come out to being minimum wage? LOL! I guess it might depending on how long the shift was.
But I still don't think that there are any clubs in the U.S. that pay enough in shift pay for someone to live on. Most shift pays that do exist in the U.S. are pitifully low, and the dancers still have to rely on selling table dances. It's just not like how it is in some clubs in Canada, where the stage dancers make pretty good salaries, and don't do table dances at all.

At my club, the dancers get a paycheck. You do stage every rotation (depends on how many dancers are working) and then pay house, tip-out, etc.
