    Default 1940's feature

I'm working on a feature act and I'm looking for big band music but not the old standards, something more modern. I've seen alot of techno remixes of songs but nothing in the big band area. Any suggestions?

Hit by a Brick by the Atomic Fireballs. It's more of a swingy song that came out in 1998 or 1999. Fantastic stripper beat with the horns and stuff, good lyrics and good changes. I have the cd and still pull it out once in a while with a long dress and feathers. It always gets the crowd going. Don't have any idea if it can be found for download, but I could send you an mp3 of it if you pm me.

----Added: I just did a search and they have 4 CDs on Amazon.com. The song I'm talking about is on their "Torch This Place" CD, which happens to be the only one of theirs that's in stock just now.

If you do the search for that cd on amazon, they'll give you some other suggestions that other people bought with that cd, or similar styles. Those would probably be worth checking out too. I noticed a cd from the Cherry Poppin Daddies (a New Orleans swing band I used to LOVE to see a few years ago) was one of the suggestions - has a ton of great buyer reviews. I didn't see any clips to listen to for that one, but alot of CDs do have clips available on amazon. If you download music, get the suggestions from amazon and see if you can find some of it for download.

Brian Seltzer (of Stray Cats fame) Orchestra, who did the "Jump Jive 'n' Wail" & "Getting in the Mood" covers.

I know you said you were looking for big band music BUT I know a really slow sexy song--Diana Krall's "Peel Me a Grape" would be great for a 40's lounge type of show. Very suggestive and sensual--could be GREAT on stage!!!!

Don't you mean Count Basie? Because that's a completely different band that's Big Band music.
