    Default Ugly duckling vs. Swan

Ok..I've been wondering for a while now..about what you were like or viewed as before you were a dancer. I mean..I was super homely/ugly as a teen..then in my mid to late twenty's..I don't know I blossomed I guess..I mean there's always room for improvement but..things could look worse . Did anyone here go from..bleck to bombshell. You know the girls in high school that were voted best looking and such. Are any of you here? Are most of us the ugly ducklings turned swan. I think I covered the general looks in the poll. I think this has been done on show's like Jenny Jone's...Thought it would be fun.

I was an ok looking kid, a little chubby. But my transformation took place in high school. I thinned out. Grew breast. My face totally changed, I got cheek bones. From 7th grade to 10th grade you wouldn't recognize me as the same person. I wasn't voted best looking but I was prom queen. Being one of the few blacks in predominately white school, I think that says something. I'm surprised at what I grew into.

I was very plain in grammar school but from high school on through college people are always saying things to me like I'm "so pretty" or whatever. But I never mind haha

Cheerleader untill i got thrown out with the Cheerleader captain (my gf) because we goofed around too much during practice. Dated guys out of my school, older with hot cars. Best gf was prom queen. Very popular with alot of the people in school. Hung out with the people everyone wanted to get to know. LOVED school. Then dropped out. Lol.

Thought i was very very beautiful, because that is what i was told by all my friends.

    Hmmm, reality bites.

I always thought I was rather plain in my younger years. I still don't think I'm all that hot. I do know I'm not and never have been an ugly duckling, but I also know my flaws very well. I was not the prom queen - I was not the type to fall into the 'in' clique. I was also too damn brainy to ever be voted prom queen. LOL

I think I was always good looking...but I always had this really unique style of dress and different ways of doing my hair. I always did draw a lot of attention to myself... it doesn't surprise people when I tell them that I am majoring in theatre. But I guess the older I got the more conscious I was about my looks and I realized that I could get away with things just because I was pretty. Whoever said you can't get by with good looks alone was WRONG!!! j/k th:

Although I've probably always been conventially attractive, it was somewhat hidden for years under funky, pink hair, tons of piercings, and clothing that was
not flattering. It wasn't until I started dancing that I began to transform into a girly-girl/woman. Hair, nails, toned, and tanned, and such. I think I like the transformation, although many who knew me back in high school don't recognize me anymore. Call it a "freak to chic" transformation

As a youngun I was pretty plain, nerdy, an honor student, and extremely shy. Not until high school did anyone ever consider me pretty.

I wasn't much to speak of. Well, maybe there was more of me to speak of! I was chubby in school, until the summer before my junior year. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism that summer, and put on medication. I got off my lazy butt, and started moving. Even though I've never gotten over my fat girl complex, I sure as hell felt better about myself from that summer on!!!

I was pretty average in school I guess. I still think I am on the average side in my day to day life. I don't wear much makeup and am dress fairly simple most of the time.

I was an ugly duckling when I was younger, I went through this stage when I was in middle school, I shudder looking at the pictures from back then. I was awkward and I wore clothes that just looked bad on me and I always wore my hair in a ponytail and I had glasses and braces. Same in high school. Then about senior year is when guys started paying attention.

Hmmm, both plain jane and prom queen. Somedays I think, god, I'll just stay home. Other days I think mmm, looking good.

Just realized I didn't answer the question. Noticed men staring at me from age 12 because I was already getting bootylicous. As for the rest of me it would change from year to year, like I had more than one ugly duckling stage. I would look plain one year, pretty the next and back to plain again. Kinda strange. I don't think I'm all that great, but I do know how to present myself and have a very nice personality.

I was always the shortest and skinniest kid in my class at school, and the last to be picked for any team during gym class. If anyone ever needed a convenenient target for abuse, I was available, and since I rapidly got to hate gym class and all related activities, lol, there wasn't much to be feared from me in my own defense. I would do my best to shrug it off and go home to my books and drawings.

Then the summer I was 16 I grew six inches--that helped, but I was still very thin and still hated all sports (other than skiing) and 'manly' forms of competition. I will never forget the feeling I experienced one day during gym class, when I finally realized that they would scream at me no matter whether I tried or not, and just relaxed. This led them all to have paroxysms of rage at my refusal to even chase the stupid fucking ball, but I was free at last.

It wasn't until I was in my mid-twenties that I really got into shape and started feeling like I looked good, in spite of getting a lot of attention in college.

I get way more attention now than I ever have, but I don't really care about it, the only one I want it from is the girl I love.

What I still really find amusing is the guys who try to tell me I am 'unmanly' for disdaining all televised team sports, as they fill their pot bellies with more beer and potato chips.

I was not ugly, but definately too small, skinny, and not big enough for some of my features (ie, nose). I had a lot of friends but the guys always dated my girlfriends that put out and I was one of the guys...got better after 16....or maybe its because I got a car, who knows....I look better and better every year, going on 27...by 30 I will be a supermodel, hehehe....

I was really gawky and skinny and geeky looking, and soooo shy. I found some pictures of me from high school the other night, and I looked like I was trying to hide. Confidence can do wonders for one's appearance, or for others' perceptions of one's appearance.

    I don't think I'm great-looking now, but I clean up well.

I was skinny with frizzy wavy hair, braces and acne at the begining of high school. By the end of high school I had filled out a little (still kinda skinny), lost the braces, learned how to do my hair, acne almost all the way gone, and at prom the schools polls were told and I got sweetest smile. Now I have day's where I feel plain, and other days where I feel like a goddess.

I was always very tall (too tall if you ask me), skinny and tomboyish as a child/teen. By freshman year I filled out and was considered good looking but I didn't hit beautiful swan phase till I was 18 (in my opinion).

It's quite weird, when I was in high school (about 3 yrs ago) In the beginning of my HS career, I was ignored by guys and turned down (bad memories of the Sadie Hawkins dance! Turned down by 3 guys!), thus making me feel like an ugly duckling, though looking back I don't think I was exactly homely. Then I transformed a bit, not exactly goth or anything with a label, but just known as the "weird girl," like a Marquis de Sade or something, a woman from Mars. Looking back, I know that I could have easily "conquered" that period of my life if I had only known then what I know now. But that's just life, I guess

I was sort of awkward until 8th grade when I moved to San Francisco. At that point I was constantly told "Oh! You are so beautiful" and it eventually made me self-consious and I turned myself into a little freaky girl: Louise Brooks bob, pale skin, red lips, lots of vintage clothes. My mom had been pressuring me to model up to that point and to this day she seems to resent that I shattered her living vicariously through me.

Now I just feel like a chameleon... I can take center stage or I can hide in public depending on whether I want to work it or not.

I went through phases. I was plain up until 9th grade. I think I became more attractive then. In 10th grade I went through a punk phase. I had clown red hair and black hair. I started chiilling out in 11th grade and was pretty plain( my hair was still growing out from being died black, it was an akward red color with blonde roots). By 12th grade I had my blonde hair again. I think each year I look better than the year before. My face loses more baby fat and cheek and jaw bones get more defined.

In grammar school until around 8th grade, I wasn't much to look at in my opinion. However, my mother thought I ws a doll. In 8th grade, I went through some changes. I got my hair permed and cut and wore lipstick and boy did I start getting attention. From 12 on I've always been given sooo much attention and have been told how good looking I am. Around 15-16, not only were the black guys looking but the white guys and hispanic guys, including some hot lesbians. I always say I was the ugly ducking turned princess swan.

I was "the girl who would be pretty if she lost weight." lol I had a pretty face and nice long hair, but I was about 20 pounds overweight until I was 21. Then I started working out and eating healthier. Now that I'm not chubby anymore, guys who wouldn't give me the time of day before are suddenly interested in me. Go figure.

I was always very plain looking, and very studious. I have a sister who has a much prettier face, and the family used to joke that "she got the looks while I got the books". Physically I was always very tom-boyish, but at the same time I suffered from chronic health problems which kept me very skinny. Then at age 13, the doctors decided to surgically remove my tonsils, which turned out to be the source of all of my health problems. Within 3-4 months after that surgery, I gained about 30 pounds to get back to a normal healthy weight, I grew about 5 inches taller, I grew much stronger as I was finally able to get out and do things physically (like walking 10 miles a day, playing tennis for hours at a time), and at the same time my boobs ballooned from an A cup to a D cup. When I returned to school that fall, virtually none of my classmates recognized me.

Bad teeth, nightmare skin, tiny, shy, and the guys my age would only pay attention to insult me or shove me out of the way.
Now I make money off of my looks, and can't look at a guy unless money is falling out of his pocket or I want something for the night. Revenge is cold but sweet.
