I'm year of the ox. Specifically under the element of water. I have a lot of water influence, I guess, being that Scorpio is also a water sign. An atrologist friend suggested that's the reason for my preferring drier climates: balance. lol![]()

Never explain yourself to anyone, because the person who likes you doesn't need it and the person that dislikes you won't believe it.

Egad, I'm a rat!
Aww, shucks. The Eastern rat is revered for its quick wits and its ability to accrue and hold on to items of value; rats are considered a symbol of good luck and wealth in both China and Japan.
Possessed of excellent taste, this Sign flaunts its style at every turn. Its natural charm and sharp, funny demeanor make it an appealing friend for almost anyone.
The Rat likes to know who is on its side and will treat its most loyal friends with an extra measure of protection and generosity.
Behind that sweet smile, though, Rats are keen and unapologetic promoters of their own agendas. This Sign is motivated by its own interests, which often include money; greed can become a problem if the Rat isn't careful to keep its priorities straight.Well some of that seems like me. Ever notice they write these things where the description could include pretty much anybody. Precisely why I've never been big on horoscopes.Although they are often hoarders, Rats can be very generous to those in their "pack," namely friends and family members who have proven their loyalty. Others might perceive them as quick-tempered and sharp-tongued, but never boorish. Verbal jousting is a great pleasure for the Rat, a Sign that everyone around will quickly learn either to love or to hate.

My problem with Chinese astrology is that categorizing people by the year they were born is just too easy to refute. I spent twelve years hanging out daily with a bunch of people who were all born the same year as I was, and they were, as any such random group would be, wildly different from one another.

This is how I see it.
If you want a more accurate picture of yourself in re: to astrology.... get your natal chart done and read. You'll be amazed at how accurate and insightful (plus full of detail) one of them are!
Horoscopes based purely on Sun (Star) Signs will never always be totally accurate same with Chinese Astrology.
I see both of them more as guides to help me understand myself better. If I truely want to know me: I get my natal chart read.
On that note: I'm a Horse.
Most of what is written about the Horse is me. Mix that with how I have alot of Scorpio energy... oh dear! :

GWLD- i was thinking the same thing.... i know some ppl say that the chinese astrology is more acurate than our version (sunsigns) but i'm not too sure bcos like you mentioned i know many ppl born in the same year as myself and we are nothing a like. Its not really a personal reading.
AUSSIEVEE- what is a natal chart?
Seraya.
A natal chart is a "picture" (chart/diagram) of the sky and constellations at the minute of your birth. Unlike newspaper horoscopes, which claim to be able to accurately announce the same thing for millions of Libras (or any other sign) worldwide, a natal chart is nearly as unique as a fingerprint. Only someone born within the same latitude and longitude, as well as within four minutes of your own birth time, will have the same chart (an astrological twin, if you will).
As an aside, chinese astrology is exactly as complicated as western astrology but neither are easy to track down the details of on the net. The above link was just for kicks and giggles.

ya know for years and years I thought I was a rat because I was born in 72 but I'm actually a pig because my b-day is jan 9 and the chinese year is different than the western year. Specifically, I'm a metal pig. Chinese horoscopes assign different elements to the signs for example, metal, wood and a couple more I don't remember what. I'll see if I can find the site I learned my element on it was actually really cool and quite fun.
Sooooouuuuu-iiiiiiiieeeeeee!!!!!
Here's to you piggies!
I think this was it:
