Are you on the Pill? If not, that should help.

Just some kind advice, and you can indeed feel free to try it for yourself to proove the results, if you switch to a vegetarian, vegan, or raw food diet your menstral cycles will be very light, easy, and no cramps or PMS. What a period is is a parasympathetic flush, the body uses it as an avenue to flush toxins out of the body. The less toxins you put into your body, the less toxins that will come out durnig the menstral cycle, and the less toxins that will get re-circulated into the bloodstream, so less discomfort. My girlfriend who has been doing raw-foods for year used to have bloating, cramps, pms, and now NOTHING but a fast, easy, painless, menstral cycle. It's amazing how the body works when we treat in properly.

Have you tried the Instead cup and 600-800 mg of ibuprofen?
This is what I use when on periods... not tried it since starting dancing, but I've used the Instead cup for about 6 years and love it! Here I thought I was the only one that knew about it... No one I know personally uses it! lol

Amaranth tea will also lighten up your period and lessen cramps and bloating...

instead... awesome. they are soft plastic cup that goes inside and colects blood instead of absorbing it. i like it because its cleaner and dosnt absorb everything like tampons do, i hate being compleatly dry. you can also wear them longer then tampons. heres the site: http://www.softcup.com/ i buy them at cvs pharmacy or myjier (sp?). i am a vegitarian but i have never had problems with anything. you might want to go to the doctor to see about the extreme pain and blood flow. That could be an indicator of bigger problems. if they say its nothing get used to it, get a second opinion. a friend of mine almost lost her uterus because of a similar problem.. but i dont want to scare you it might just be your body, everybodys diffrent.

I can work on my period just fine. I use tampons and just cut and tuck the string, then I make sure to change it often. Keep a little pair of scissors on your locker for that purpose. An aspirin or midol will take care of the cramps.

Oh yeah, and wear your black thong that day, just in case.

I wear two thongs, areally decorative one and regular black underneath. I use tampons, and cut the string. The little portable ones from tampax make getting to the bathroom with one easier, as our locker room does not have a bathroom in it, we use same as customers. I also have heavy periods, and have to change tampons frequently, but for my heaviest days I do just skip work. Better safe then sorry.

We have a huge discussion on the instead cup from months ago. You should use the search for that if your interested in that. They look awfully big though! :o

I get a prescribed medicine from my doctor which works WONNNNNNDERS for cramps. Its called Anaprox, but as I am not a doc, I am not telling anyone to just go ahead and get it. Talk to your doctor first.
My friend took one without it being prescribed, and she had an allergic reaction. LOL It doesnt sound funny, but it was a light case and her eyes were swollen and I was all worried, and shes laughing saying, "This always happens to me"

Man I would give just about anything to "have a time of the month" haha. There was a thread a while back about dealing with Endometriosis. I get a period like once every 4-5, if that.

Oh well...back on subject. Let's see...drinking Chamomile tea is good for cramping. You should try exercising too. I know that may seem kinda hard...but It will really make a difference. Also yoga and stretching are really good options as well.

    Hope that helps.

Anaprox is the same drug as Aleve, which you can get in any drug store without a prescription.
I have tried Aleve before and it wasnt as strong as Anaprox. I even got the generic Anaprox, which is Naproxen Sodium and it really did not d othe job. (But again people are different) The NS didnt tame the cramps at all.... I had to take two and I hate to do that. But maybe aleve will work for others...hopefully, as prescription drugs are expensive if you dont have insurance.

As with any of the NSAID family drugs, do be careful of stomach issues with longterm use of these medications. Years ago I took Anaprox for period pain, and ended up with a bleeding ulcer. Take them with food and watch for side effects. You should also avoid Ibuprofin and Asprin while on these meds, Tylenol is ok though.

They're about the same shape and size as a small diaphragm. They work great though!
Also, i prefer Aleve over ibuprofen, it seems to last longer.

Not meant to scare, just some pointers Three things are key, take with food, don't lie down for 30 mins after taking, and don't take OTC painkillers other than tylenol during treatment. When I had problems, I was doing all of the above - not eating much because I always felt nauseous when I had my period, laying down because of the cramping, and taking asprin for period-induced headaches.
I am taking a similar anti-inflammatory now for a chronic shoulder problem, and I just pay close attention to my body. When I find that I am getting an upset stomach whenever I eat a meal, I know I need to take a break from the meds - it's difficult though because they help so much, I hate when I have to stop taking them.
