Default Another Tanning Question (red marks)

I have been getting red marks on my chest that I think are from tanning that look like little scars or acne. It is really unattractive. I have been covering that area with a towel for about half the time of my tanning session, but they are still there. I'm actually a little parnoid they are little tumors or something. Any idea what these may be and if I should be worried?

    Anais-
I am not a doctor, but I had a similar experience with only one red mark that appeared on my cheek next to my eye.

I am a fair skinned person, but when I tan I burn, then get a tan, and can maintain it easily enough. But if I stop tanning it goes away quickly. THAT was when I discovered the red blotch next to my eye.

I went to the dermatologist, he gave me a cream to try to fade it out! It worked a little but not completely. I ended up having it zapped off with the lazer a month or two later. NOw it is gone.

Dont know what yours is, but keep an eye on it and if it bothers you maybe you can have them zapped!

If I had over tanned in a week (like 5 times in a week, bad idea)then I would get a red rash on my chest. It was just over exposure on a sensitive area. I would take some benadryl in pill form and then it would be gone. My chest is so sensitive I can't even lay on my stomache in the bed. Maybe it's just a rash from the over exposure. OR Maybe you got some kind of funk from the person before you. :o You never really know how clean your bed is before hopping into it. I like to clean mine before and after when I tan. Let's just hope it's not that!

Sometimes birth control pills or pregnancy can cause you to get red marks from tanning. In my old tanning place it said so right on the warning labels in every room. Are you on the pill?

Do you think they're broken capillaries? When a capillary bursts, it appears as though you took a red ballpoint pen and just poked a dot on your skin. I had a broken capillary once and it went away on its own like in a year or so. One day it was just gone.

Well, I had to go to the doctor for my (trashed) knees and showed him the red marks. At first he was very puzzled and kept pressing on them. he said it didn't look like anything viral from the tanning bed. Then he asked if I drink alcohol. Yes. A lot? Umm, kind of. How many drinks a day? 5 or 6 (perhaps an underestimate).

He said they are probably angiomas from excessive alcohol. Wow that kind of scared me. But not as much as thinking they might be cancerous. My plan for cutting down drinking is to drink a tall glass of water between each beer. I was just at home last night and I only had 3 beers. (And 3 glasses of water.)

Mariah bring up a good point.

A few months ago I was taking some medication and it says it makes you more sensitive to sunlight. I think even St Johns Wort, which is not prescribed, mentiones the same thing. So watch out, if you are taking any meds, read the info as some make you more sensitive to any kind of light.
    Hope its nothing serious girly...
